Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Anime would be my preference, but honestly yeah I could see a live action Blue Flag doing well for itself.

I noticed that just now. Not sure that it's a good move since J+ talk was allowed here, and the thread activity is low as expected. The service isn't really that popular around here beyond just few series on it's own to warrant a separate thread.
I feel like there's a lot more Jump+ manga that are more popular in the West than one thinks, tbh. Even in this spread, there's probably a bunch of manga fromt here that we read but we don't really talk about here.

Hello everyone! I'm the new guy in town. Been lurking here since a couple of months, some time ago I discovered Mangaplus and it changed my life. So now I would like to join the conversation, and I thought my first post could be the rundown of this week's chapters, ranked by me:

1. Hard-boiled cop and Dolphin: I know this may be an unpopular opinion, but of all the weirdness currently running on Jump, this is my type of weirdness, the one that sometimes wants to be taken seriously. This week it's explained a bit more what is happening on that island (also loving the beach setting btw) and I like the direction the story has taken. I am accepting the fact that this manga may not get to see next year, but I hope with all myself that my little treasure will have a long run.
2. Time paradox ghostwriter: Out of context, I liked the chapter telling Aino's story. I think that the single chapters are very well written, but the overall story is going too fast. Either axe theory or time-loop theory may be correct, or maybe both.
3. One piece: going with a classic here. The One Piece itself is back into discussion and the new take can improve this saga. I hope all the Koizuki drama hasn't been built for months without a proper pay-off, though.
4. UNDEAD UNLUCK: this may be my current favourite "pure battle shonen", mostly because of the originality and the world setting. As for this chapter...without going too much on the details (how much can we spoiler in this thread?), i feel like the lady has accepted her new friends a little too fast. Nice take on the Power of Friendship, though.
5. Moriking: I prefer this when it is utterly stupid, but I liked how it tried to be emotional and to tell something different. A bit worried for the sudden drop on the ratings.
6. Me & Roboco: generally I don't like it (and i think there are already too much gag mangas in Jump), but some jokes have made me laugh, most notably the panel showing the name of the girl.
7. Black Clover: I started this "in medias res" with the Mangaplus offer of chapters 200-240 for free, from some week ago. So I don't know much about the power of the protagonist, but I just hope he's not meant to lose control, it's a very used trope.
8. Magu-chan: God of Destruction: I like it a lot in general, not so much this week. It's at its funniest when the titular character is on the scene, and this week he had only 3-4 pages of screentime. Better luck next week.
9. Haikyuu!!: before you start screaming at me, it's ranked so low just because i haven't read the series, but I was curious about the final chapter. So for me it was just a classic "Where are they now?" epilogue, if I grew with it i would have probably felt a lot more emotional (big fan of Eyeshield 21 btw).
10. Mashle: Another generally good series with an average chapter. I think it doesn't do serious parts as well as it does comedy, and I find a little too focus on Lance at the moment (who would really need some variety in his powers). Let's wait for the protagonist to take the stage once again.
11. Bone collection: enjoyed it when it tried to be funny, a bit less now that it's taken a darker tone. Like others, I feel it's rushing or changing because of axe fear, but unlike others I don't think it's building a finale. It feels like a condensed major arc, but not like a final arc. I am also curious about the girl with glasses and her role.
12. Ayakashi triangle: this is just...not my genre. I can understand how it may become popular and grow its fanbase, but I am not feeling entertained by this story now and I don't know if I'll ever be in the future.

As for the other series...I just havent' catched up with them since I started reading manga with Mangaplus. I will probably get on par with some eventually.

I really liked that one shot. I really hope Miura comes back with a full series soon.

I enjoyed, don't know much how Miura could progress with the plot in long term but i do really like the guy mecha design, looks really cool and the space fight was well done, i would maybe change the girl for a less "Nonko" look and more a Sagiri look with black hair since the guy already has a silver hair, for one side i really want a Yuuna sequel in the future but the other part of me would like to see this getting serialized since mecha/space series is really rare on Shonen Jump and it would be cool seeing Miura having another success.

my rating is 5/10 don't have much panties shots
I think for the beginning would be fine and start to elevate as the chapter goes on.

What sport have we seen the most in WSJ? Baseball?

I'm curious what a list of how often have all the different sports been represented in WSJ would be like. Maybe two lists could be interesting, one for just hits and one including flops (which would take a lot more time and effort I expect).
I decided to check it out personally and there was quite a bit more representation what I was thinking. Just a note, its possible that I could have skipped some series, specially between 1968 to 1971 because I couldnt find much info or even pictures from some series of that time, but its mostly a completed list.

Baseball: 44 (Chichi no Tamashii, Samurai Giants, Astro Kyūdan Play Ball, 1•2 no Ahho!!, Akutare Kyojin, Susume!! Pirates, Yamashita Tarō-kun, Rookies, Mr. Fullswing)
Soccer: 22 (Captain Tsubasa + sequel, Whistle!)
Box: 18 (Ring ni Kakero, Kami-sama wa Southpaw, Rokudenashi Blues)
Racing: 15 (Circuit no Ōkami, Yoroshiku Mechadoc)
Wrestling: 8 (Kinnikuman, The Momotaroh)
Golf: 6 (Hole in One, Rising Impact)
Basketball: 5 (Slam Dunk, Kuroko no Basuke)
Tennis: 4 (Tennis Boy, The Prince of Tennis)
Judo: 4
Rugby: 4
Ping Pong: 4
Sumo: 3 (Hinomaru Sumo)
Kendo: 3
Shogi: 3
Hourse Racing: 2 (Midori no Makibaō)
Kickboxing: 2
Karate: 2
Fishing: 2
Surfing: 2
Swimming: 2
Handball: 2
Go: 1 (Hikaru no Go)
American Football: 1 (Eyeshield 21)
Volleyball: 1 (Haikyū!!)
Bowling: 1
Hand Gliding: 1
Gymnastics: 1
Ice Hockey: 1
Ice Skating: 1
Cheer Team: 1
Tae Kwon Do: 1
Lacrosse: 1
Dancing: 1

There were also some series that were Martial Arts (5) but they didnt specifically said which one. There were also about Piloting (2), Radio Controlling Planes (1), Motocross but that was included in Racing and a Doctor for sportmens (1).

I’m honestly surprised Karate & Kendo haven’t gotten enough traction yat, even though those two could seriously blow up in the international market as well. These 2 martial arts have long been something that people have a passing interest in, but not yet fully invested in learning more about them. A good manga would be a great gateway.

No, only series. It was difficult to found some of the older series, so searching and verifying all one shots, would be way more harder, specially when there are nothing published in the internet in some instances.

And finally my sign is updated!!! It changed a lot, Haikyuu, Yuuna, Neverland and Guardian of the Witch were removed and the 4 new series added, with 3 veterans ending, Dr. Stone, Act-Age and Jujutsu finally entered the first line :p

Edit: The poll thread is updated with the banner too

Thank you Furudate sensei for your hard work, looking forward to your next work

Nirai Kanai: for demon fighting/exorcist type of manga, I don't dislike this, but the pacing is incredibly slow, nothing happened this week, also 3 out of 4 chapters have ended in the middle of a conversation cliffhangers already?
Roboco: this chapter was a mix bag, i liked the in-world driven humor but the reference jokes are kinda tiring, "remember DBZ? remember Act Age? remember Jujutsu Kaisen?? remember Kurosawa?? remember Bakuman??"
Mashle: the divine visionary is Finn's older brother right? surprised by how detailed and well thought out the fights are, i thought they would be resolved in a more gag-ish way
Yozakura: when did Tayio meet the villain the first time? this manga has too many characters
Magu-chan: I really like this, the cast is small (4 characters ) and the world is small (we have only seen the beach and Ruru's house so far) but is getting developed nicely, so I'm excited to see how the mangaka will handle exploring this world
TPGW: don't know what to say that have not been already said, the pacing and development are too fast and the story telling choices are weird

this entire cover is drawn by Demizu right? Tanjiro and Hinata are colored differently from Furudate and Croc's usual style

Panty Shots
Bath scenes w femchars
bewbie grabs
nosebleeds
pervy horndogs
sexual harassment for giggles
Cold-hearted doesn't understand emotions strong femchar
winning the first battle
winning against stronger more experience better opponents incredibly early in the series
surprising rare once in a generation ability activating in the very first chapters against an incredibly strong character/enemy
fear of killing characters
fear of rebirthing characters
fear of bad endings
fear of the antagonist winning
fear of losing the final battle
fear of making characters gay
There is gay island in One piece and Ivankov exist but Oda did handle them pretty well

Question - What, in YOUR opinion (don't attack others), are the dumbest shonen trends/cliches that still exists today in WSJ?
Thousands of Kirito's character design. I think that's a laziest and most overuse design ever.

Is funny how out the 44 baseball series, only 2 managed to get anime (Play Ball and Samurai Giants). Astro Kyudan was going to get anime adaptation in 90s but the project stopped.
