Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I will go with two theories, one Jump being pretty trashy and making short volumes with 2 chapters each to make as much money as possible.

Two, it's just a way of internally differentiating this volume and the previously released Burn The Witch One-Shot Tankobon.

Either way, we'll know for sure in 3 more weeks. No rush.
It had a Tankobon release? You learn new things every day.

The Comiq and Byakuya and the various Toriyama mini-series are all technically vol 1 of these series as well and were probably catalogued as such
According to this link. THE COMIQ was catalogued without a number.

To me, it seems like they're just leaving the possibility open for the series to continue. If the manga does well and especially if the movie does well, why not do a volume every year or so (which means more movies/merchandise/etc.)?

Whatever happens, Kubo's in a good position. He's been gone for long enough that even those who weren't Bleach fans want to see him again. The mini-series and movie will be coming out around the same time so it'll have a lot of buzz; if it dies down then it'll have done its job in building up for the return of the Bleach anime which will keep fans talking for another few years. But if come 2021 people are still talking about Burn the Witch I'm sure there'll be a chance it continues in some form. Kubo has way less obligations or expectations to deliver in the same way that so many returning mangaka do (and sometimes fail at). Unless it's absolutely trash (doubt it).

Such a great guy. Dont understand how anyone dislikes him.
Pretty sure no one over here dislikes him. There are just those who dislike his series. Two different things.
Majority over here really appreciates how friendly and wholesome he is as a person especially to other mangaka.

M+ picked up World's End Harem Britannia Lumiére

So... spiders are the new nipples now? Two pages of "OMG OMG SPIDER!!" and you don't see the poor thing even once, they just kind of try to imply it's there. Are spiders hard to draw? Does Japan have a law against depicting arachnids? (Also, what a bunch of cowards.)

The setting is quite different from World's End Harem. But of course using the same goal wouldn't work. (What was the purpose of that first part though, if she didn't end up in a coma or anything? They could've just started with her waking up in the fantasy world and it would've made no difference. Unless it somehow becomes important later.)

"Your arrival is only known by a small number of people"? You mean aside from the literal thousands that were cheering for her on the balcony?

... Huh. The end of chapter 2 made me fear the worst for a moment, but chapter 3 actually saved the series for me (so far). The obvious problems are all addressed, everyone is acting respectfully and the characters are finally showing some personality. Nice drawings, too (a bit generic, but beautiful). There might be hope for this after all, if it can just get past the exposition and find a way to distinquish itself a bit more.

I noticed that Tabata is probably the most active when it comes to welcoming/congratulating other mangaka's lol
Yeah. TBH I expected him to congratulate Horikoshi 2 weeks ago for the anniversary. I am also betting on him congratulating UU author for the award on issue 39 or 40.

Tabata is by far the most sociable author, and the one who has shown the most his love for Shonen Jump.

Haven't read this or the og series yet, but WEH fantasia is surprisingly decent, so I will give this my benefit of doubt.

Haikyuu!! 44 stays ahead of the previous volume with a lead of over 22,000 copies, though with a day more. Jujutsu Kaisen 12 stays ahead of volume 11 with less than 13,000 copies and two days more, this volume is not performing as well as the previous one. Chainsaw Man 8, on the other hand, is performing well, it sold almost 30,000 copies more than the previous volume with two days more. It also has sold in 13 days about as much as Black Clover 25 did in 17 days.

Kimetsu no Yaiba still the same. Volume 21's combined numbers have put it in the top 5 of the top-selling volumes in a year. Meanwhile, Spy x Family is monstruous and volume 2 should hit the million mark with this week's sales. The Promised Neverland 19 manages to stay within the charts for yet another week and an Act-Age volume shows up after people have been buying it before it gets out of stock.

Nice Undead backlog, and that’s two days in a row out of shoseki for Yozakura, hope it comes back but looking less likely. No Agravity boost for 6th rip, not that I was expecting much really.

Those reprints for Undead Unluck seem to be paying off, meanwhile not a single glimpse of Agravity Boys, sending those reprints straight to bookstores was a hasty decision. Though, to be honest I expected Undead Unluck's volumes to chart higher than Mashle 1 when volume 2 got released. Still really good, let's see how they keep up in the following days and how volume 3 fares next month. So many new volumes have been released since the 17th so it's pretty hard for Yozakura to come back, it probably won't chart in the weekly ranking.

Mashle really dropping, vol.1 was at #192 at June 20 (same number of days), this and maybe Yozakura too are probably going out quickly because stock.
It might be a case of stores running out of stock since volume 2 sold in two weeks almost as much as volume 1 did in 5 weeks + the surge of new volumes this week.
