Also, those with D have also brought about some sort of an age. Roger started the Great Age of Piracy, and Blackbeard ended Whitebeard's era. It's also arguable that Luffy brought about another age of piracy, along with Whitebeard, with the crazy things he's done. Kinda supports pirates trying to join the crew, albeit a fake one, on Sabaody. Hell, Ace also brought about the end of Whitebeard's era when he went after Blackbeard, who beat him and handed him over to the Marines in order to become a shichibukai.

I will just leave my thought here, which can be a connection between the "D=Devil" theory and the Joyboy theory. Here are my observations:

1) his wifes' name was Dewi Sara and he had four daughters: Dewi Jayaamijaya, Pramesti Dewi, Dewi Pramuni and Dewi Sasanti. It may indicate, that all Joy Boys' descendants share the same name: Dewi. "D." Since "Joy Boy" is also not spelled identically as original "Jayabaya", we can assume: DEWI ~= DEVIL.

2) as M3J stated, D. brings some sort of an age:

For anyone who knows the Joyboy theory: King Jayabaya and Javanese people believed in a cyclical history of alternating prosperity epochs, followed an era of suffering, to cycle back to an era of prosperity.

Conclusion: the Will of D. is the Will of Joyboy and his descendants to continue his mission to restore the social justice, order, and harmony in the world.

Possible. Will of D seems to be controlled by fate though, and perhaps Roger was the biggest instrument in developing Luffy into the Chosen One. I don't think it's really a cyclical history of alternating prosperity epochs, though, but who knows.

Question though is, was Roger ever the Chosen One or considered to be the Chosen One? Or did Fate give him a disease and lead him to inspire a new generation of pirates, which in turn allowed Shanks himself to inspire Luffy, with the addition of Ace and Sabo? One of the reasons why Luffy is so determined not to lose anyone and to become stronger is because he lost Sabo, whom he met through Ace, who was Roger's spawn.

Well, I guess being that fate seems to be predetermined, if one personifies fate and say... refers to it as the One Piece god, I guess you could say fate planned Roger's path in life and the end conclusion.

Especially when Garp describes Roger as surviving as long as he did despite being reckless due to luck. "Luck" could be fate making sure Roger, Luffy, and other important people survive, and fate could have let Roger die from sickness to light a fire under his ass to get to Raftel and mold Shanks, who in turn would have an effect on Luffy.

More importantly though, I just wanna see Luffy be the savior that the OP world needs, and Roger was looking for.

Savior the OP world needs.... with ever changing events, we often forget thats a critical aspect of the series.
That alone puts Luffy ahead of Teach.

I had an idea about the D. I had originally thought of D as a person, but I’ve since had a different view. I think D is the initial of the name of the country of the Ancients, and the “will of D” is more like an inherited will, something passed down, like a desire to continue the fight against “the enemy”. Which of course is the World Government. Like “We May be gone, but we pass down our “fight” to our ancestors.” Which brings me to the other part. I think those that have the D in their name are the members of the ancestral families from the Ancient Kingdom, and the D is an identifier for those “in the know”. Half asleep so I apologize for not being more thorough in my theory.

Further on that: He whole “Gods Enemy” thing. I’m almost positive that Im, the hidden king, is the “God” they were referring to, and is almost definitely immortal, or at least had the perpetual youth surgery. And has been around since the void century. I have a feeling the “five stars” old dudes have as well, either that or they had Bonney around to keep them the same age. Which makes me think Bonney is also super duper old.
Also just had an idea...Theory time!:
Im is short for “Immortal”

I think he was probably a noble from the ancient civilization that bailed out for some reason (wanted power? Cast out? Pulling a Melkor from Tolkien silently working against his people to take power?) and created a Coalition of countries (Empowered by some ‘D’ technology like cannons and whatnot) to attack ‘D’ and since they were similar to the Federation (Star Trek) they didn’t want to become dictators of the world and sort of bowed out instead of smashing out pretty much every other country in the world. But had a genius idea. Usually it’s said “history is written by the victors”, but they found a way to make sure that didn’t happen this time. They created a substance that was almost indestructible, and taught the Kozuki family how to mold it. They carved the true history into these blocks, but didn’t stop there, they also added any information they thought would be useful to those that would fight against Im and his coalition, and information on where they could find weapons to use in that fight. Since Im would have been able to read it in their own language and script they encoded it in such a complicated and convoluted way that it only be decoded by them or their decendants (and of course the Kozuki). Whether they factored in those that could hear “the voice of all things” or that there would be people that could decode the language on their own, I don’t know. And lastly the Nobility (true to the phrase ‘noblesse oblige’) left their country in secret and implanted themselves in countries all over the world and intentionally left their names and lineage behind, with only the middle initial D left to identify themselves and made sure that all of their ancestors knew to pass on that initial, but not their history since it would DEFINITELY make them a target. Wether the “will of D” is some kind of genetic memory or just a trait of their people to fight against injustice and slavery, I haven’t a clue, but I think that’s what the will refers to.

let me know whacha think!

Main difference is that I think D is a group of people, if not a family or clan. I think Will of D is a trait or inherited spirit, or both. Ace never met Roger but he's a lot like Roger, and in turn, both he and Shanks influenced who Luffy became, along with Garp. So far though, it does seem like the Will of D is about wanting to be free and not fearing death.

So a group of people unconnected to the ancient kingdom?

Yea, i think D being a nation is a great possibility, connecting what Clover said too... the great nation's name.... before he was shot... its like even naming the nation is dangerous, so D being a nation is definitely possible.

Also, Im being an immortal is almost certain, and perhaps connects to Toki somehow... And Toki's purpose would be in Oden's journal so i guess we will know some more very soon.

Now that you mention it, I think the reason they shot him before he could say the name of the country is because if it was something like “Durmstrang” (Harry Potter :p) people would make the connection between D being gods enemies, or whatever is known about the will of D and everything could potentially fall into place. If that’s the case, (it’s fairly obvious that the five stars are completely aware of the void century) then they wouldn’t be able to let any of the marines that heard it live and they would have to kill anyone that potentially could have heard the conversation, which would be anyone in range or possibly ALL of the marines since it was likely on a marine frequency, which can apparently be tapped. I mean they killed an entire island on the possibility that someone on the island had the information from the scholars, so it’s not far fetched...

I think they're completely connected to the Ancient Kingdom, and it's possible that the citizens were wiped out or something because they stood in the way of the kings creating their own kingdom or something.

Oh! I see! You are saying that the will of D is referring to a family, not a country, but that family is FROM the ancient country, right?

no, just that the D could be a clan, family, or citizens of the Ancient Kingdom whereas non-Ds were not.

May be my misunderstanding but I don’t see the difference. Are you saying that the Ds are (possibly of course) the ONLY survivors of the ancient kingdom? (Ancestors anyway)

l think what happened to the Uchiha could be what happened here, with only a handful of D surviving. If they were/are families though, then that'd make all Ds relatives of some sort.
