I don't think Jump is light with comedies.

If Agravity had bad sales like Zipman levels it probably would have been axed by now, and Mitama would be axed earlier if it had bad placements. Moriking was probably in the same situation as Mitama and they probably expected it would sell with those ranks, but now it has bad ranks. Zipman, Guardian, Time Paradox, Bone Collection all had bad sales and bad TOC, while those comedies had something that kept them alive and it's not their genre.
Dude, even though Agravity sells more than Mitama, jump never gave him a color page.
Not to mention that Agravity boys never made it to the Top 5. It's kind of obvious that jump doesn't want to invest in it, but keeps it anyway. Perhaps because of its popularity on the internet, but if you don't want to invest more in it then why keep it? Wouldn't it be better to transfer as it doesn't cancel?
I think they take it easy with comedies, I'm sure that with Moriking, magu chan, shakunetsu Roboko and Kokosei it will be the same thing

So who cares if Jump doesn't want to invest in it, why would they axe it when it did better than other series? The comedies have done better than the other series that were axed so obviously Jump would let the comedies live longer. It's not because they are comedies that is letting them live long, its that people liked them better than the other series.

Would you have let Zipman last longer than Agravity when both of them had low TOC but Agravity sold much better?
Would you have let Guardian live longer than Mitama even though they both had bad sales but Mitama had better positions?
Would you have let Bone Collection and Time Paradox to live longer than Moriking, when Moriking had better positions than both of them?

It's quite obvious why Jump let them live.

I wonder if Bone would be doing better in the ToC than Moriking the past few issues, had it continued. They both had a similar trajectory of starting really high up for a bit then dropping to the bottom, Bone just did it faster.

Agravity Boys is a weird case tho, i don't really know what's going on behind the scenes but sometimes i do imagine if the author did something because the complete lack of color page and rotation in the rankings despite the decent sales and online popularity it's really bizarre, in any other magazine AB would have at least a cp for a volume release but in Jump seems like they purposedly don't want to give anything for the series, SJ do have a terrible approach towards color page distribution but AB case it's something else.

Nah, it was just a fluke, Moriking was (and still) leagues above in quality, BC would be stuck in the bottom.

I would have canceled Moriking along with time paradox and bone collection.
even with better positions Moriking sold less than time paradox.

Agravity boys, I would have given him a CP because he sold 12K, and would give him better positions. Who knows, maybe sales would improve.

And I wouldn't have started magu chan or Kokousei, I would have put 2 spokon to try to find a replacement for haikyuu or a plot to replace Act age.

Seems like you just have something against comedy, simple.

Putting 2 spokons would probably result in nothing more than both being axed, sports on Jump is just too 8 or 80, Kokosei is already a survivor and most candidate for the back of the magazine, so you would be doing 2 bad decisions already

Yeah Agravity is kinda weird. Idk I still find it weird that it sold pretty well comparing it to some other newbies, yet it was at the back of the magazine this entire time. Like usually things at the back end of the magazine are the series that will likely sell badly and get axed next but Agravity sold surprisingly well for a series that everyone expected to die early on. Like I would say that Agravity got a twitter page as promotion, but Moriking, UU and Mashle also have twitter pages and they got CP's (though UU and Mashle deserve it way more obviously).

Really feels like the people who buy the volumes don't vote for the series.

I mean it was basically confirmed they were getting axed before we got sales so it was too late for them, especially Time Paradox which isn't a comedy and couldn't just keep going because it had a story which was heading towards an ending already. Plus there sales aren't even that apart, it's like 4.7k vs 4.3k right? Moriking was getting great positions and Time Paradox was bottom locked. Once again obvious.

I would too, but idk why you keep bring up CP's. We were talking about Jump being lenient with comedies not Agravity getting a color page. Idk how that helps your case.

Also you make it sound like all the comedies are similar but they aren't. Ik you don't like all the comedy manga in Jump right now, but we can see that a lot of users have different opinions on the comedy mangas here so I don't really see a problem with them having a lot of different comedies that suit peoples different tastes.

When you have 8 comedies, it's very complicated not to have problems with them. And we already have Roboko to stay in the back of the magazine so why have Kokousei?

Even though they are 8 and 80, everyone is still spokon in the magazine. give the people what they want.

Still, Moriking is a manga that sold only 4K and in that year that a jump lost kimetsu, TPN, Haikyuu, Yuuna and Act age, it is not good to skip keeping something like Moriking that sells less than Agravity.

magu chan, Roboko and Moriking are similar and if you took at least 2 of them and put something more diverse I would accept the others without problems.

Roboco isn't really a series for the back of the magazine when it has 15 pages per chapter, Kokosei has 11 pages per chapter, it's from a popular gag author that had his last series in the back before and it's really funny, why would Jump not serialize Ryou when he is a popular author? i wouldn't be any surprise if do sell better than all the later comedies, Isobe average volume sales were over 20k/30k, not really hard for Ryou to beat current gag sales.

Doing things just for the sake of doing don't really leads to anything, this is why no sport series published during the World Cup or Olympics ever gets popular, because is just like a "obligation" to do, i prefer them to really found a good sport series at their pace, like said, sport series on Jump are too 8 or 80, let people be more hungry for sport series and when they have something good or at least with potential, release.

Why would they cancel Moriking when they don't need too right now? They can cancel it next time when it is doing worse than another series and they want to bring new series, not when there is nothing to axe it for, that would be bad and pointless move.

If those 3 are similar then I guess everyone loves Moriking and Roboco since a lot of people like Magu Chan right? Nah they don't, because they have different execution, characters, and comedy. Not everyone who likes Moriking will like Roboco and Magu, and not everyone who likes Roboco will like Magu and Moriking. Just because they have a similar premise doesn't mean they are similar manga.

Ok. Cancel roboko then, since Kokousei will sell so much, there is no reason to keep Roboko.
about the number of pages it is easy to decrease, Yuuki tabata does it in Black clover and you don’t necessarily need sports, but bring more diverse things like act age, you don’t need to put several comedies at once.

They are similar, they can be different in some ways but there are many similarities between them.
And honestly it was a mistake to start 3 similar manga in a short period of time.

What are the similarities between them? The only similarity I see are the setups for the characters: Moriking, Magu-Chan, and Roboco are kinda similar I guess but the way they act are different. Their personalities are nothing alike and you make it sound like these series are copies of each other. You are basically saying all series were characters start off being the weakest and want to grow to become stronger are the same.

That's basically what Moriking, Magu-Chan, and Roboco have: A similar set up, but different type of comedy.

Moriking, Magu chan and Roboko are very similar. "A child who receives a strange being" is a concept that already exists in the magazine and in many places and in the jump currently has three of them. And everyone is based on comedy.
Apart from that Moriking sold less than 5K, and now that the jump doesn't have 5 of its most important manga, there is no way to keep Moriking.

That's literally what I said... I said they had the same setup by their execution of comedy is different. That's the only similarity.

I also said before that there is no need to axe Moriking right now until they need to bring a new batch. So when something is doing badly, and Jump wants to axe a series they will do it when they bring a new batch, not for no reason.

This is going in circles I think, since I already said what I said above before and you just brought it up again, so maybe we should stop here since I don't want to fill the whole page with this discussion.

lol you're not making any sense Stivie, it's not even the same style of jokes/comedy, and readers are who decide this and so far Roboco is doing fine, Jump doesn't have just 1 spot for comedies in the magazine.

But there is also no room left for eight comedies.
Not even in Gintama's time, there were so many.

I know well that it is the public who decides who stays and who leaves but that does not change the current situation of the jump. The magazine lost 5 veterans and you can't count on a bunch of comedies that risk selling less than 5K.

I mean, here, it's a ToC from 2010:

One Piece (Cover, Lead Color)
Naruto
Bleach
Nurarihyon
Toriko
Kuroko pecial chapter (Color)
Bakuman
Reborn
Sket Dance
Beelzebub
Gintama(Color)
Lock On!
Kochi
Yotsuya
My Idol by Kawashita (Oneshot Color)
Hokenshitsu
Inumaru
Kuroko
Psyren
Medaka
Hunter
Rilienthal
Jaguar

We had Sket, Gintama, Beelzebub (which, specially at that point, I consider as much or even more of a comedy as Mashle), Inumaru, Rilienthall, Jaguar and Kochikame. 7 series. There are differences, sure, mainly in that many of those series were extremely established already (kochikame requires no words, and Gintama/Jaguar were huge deals). And Rilienthal would be canceled, but, well, I guess some of the ones we have right now will be as well.

And I agree it's kinda frustrating to have had so many batches with gag/comedy series, because they came too close to each other. And, subjectively, I don't think many of the ones we have are actually good. But, in short, Jump does have space for that many comedies, it's not absurd.

at least those comedies that you showed had personality and were different from each other.

The comedies that we have today don't even have that, I can honestly say that the quality has dropped a lot in what we have today in the jump.
