Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Pretty much double what the closest second (Kingdom) does.
Heh, not quite.
You are forgetting a certain spy manga that is currently selling a bit more than Kingdom and that has yet to reach its peak.
Doesn't change your point though.

What? No, it isn't. It's close, but Kingdom got 598k in two weeks last volume and Spy got 574k, according to Oricon. And Kingdom has huge backlogs, so it might be higher with this recent one, which we will get the numbers... Anytime now? (or we did get it and I didn't notice?)

NGL, completely forgot SxF existed. But I'm fairly certain Kingdom is still ahead on a monthly basis. 12 months might be a different story overall, I guess.

We'll have an exact picture on the monthly comparison this month, but I think Kingdom will still be ahead (Its sales are generally very frontloaded). But on a yearly basis, yeah. The highest number we've ever seen for a Kingdom volume is 863,994 for vol. 53 during the 2019 oricon year. Two weeks ago, vol. 4 of SxF was at 859,556 and vol. 3 at 953,719. Both came out during the 2020 oricon year.

One Piece is ending in 5 years or so, it’s sales will never drop to the point of cancellation, it’s gonna sell 7+ mil this year with only 3 volumes and being this old, even if it drops to only 4 mil yearly by 2025 that will still be > 85% of the Magazine

Even 5k sales per volume, another 15 years in, would not warrant a cancellation.
One piece won't be cancelled. Ever.

(Unless of course, Oda commits a major crime by Japanese standards).

So maybe I'm misunderstanding Oda but wouldn't his new schedule make 1000 chapters this year impossible? I think there's one break left for the magazine in 2020 which gives us 12 issues left. If he never needed to take a break after 2 chapters and was always able to do it in 3 he would just barely squeeze it in but since he mentioned 2 chapters then a break I assume we'll have at least one of those come up in the next 12 weeks which would make it impossible.

It’s possible that he just meant he wants it to be done before the year is out. Maybe not released.

Yozakura back in the top 5 this issue has me curious, do you think it's carved out a stable enough niche to be safe by now?

I've been looking through its ToC placements and it mostly hangs around low-middle, with occasional jumps up high and occasional drops to the bottom 3 (which seem to happen in about equal amounts).

I think that's about the same as Spring Weapon did, Yozakura does slightly better overall I think but the magazine's lineup is pretty different now with less series ranked each issue (and Yozakura sells much better).

Unless it do a 180 out of nowhere and sales drop, the series will keep growing fine, specially with the current momentum created from the last arc, the series it's in a good spot now, volume 5 has a good chance of reaching 30k or more, vol 4 will much probably be 25k+ when Shoseki release August data, so i think the series is pretty safe for now.

TOC

A real shame the Magu-chan is still bottom 3, but at least it hasn't hit rock bottom yet, so I suppose there may still be a tiny bit of hope remaining. Big winner this issue is Yozakura for sure. I'm glad to see it higher in the TOC than usual since this has been a good arc for the most part.

I think Oda is talking about time-wise, not issue wise. As long as he does 3 chapters into break regularly, that one's achievable.

SxF has better hold and sells long term thanks to the fact that it is still growing, so it will be bigger on yearly.

Although something that must be said is that kingdom has been the top-selling series in digital for 5 years now, and seinen series in general tend to have a better digital split, so Kingdom does have that going outside of the oricon chart. And this is all while having its digital delayed one month, too. That streak will most likely be broken this year though.

Monthly Shoseki Estimations - August of 2020

1. Haikyuu!! #44
3. Jujutsu Kaisen #12
6. Chainsaw Man #8
7. Dragon Ball Super #13
40. World's End Harem #12
44. We Never Learn #18
80. Mashle #2
203. Mission: Yozakura Family #4
374. 'Tis Time for "Torture" Princess #3

Talking about Yozakura monthly sales:

Mission: Yozakura Family #1: 14.253
Mission: Yozakura Family #2: 15.160
Mission: Yozakura Family #3: 20,566
Mission: Yozakura Family #4: 22,826

Monthly Shoseki numbers for Yozakura are quite off, according to the weekly data Yozakura #4 sold "21,048" in 13 days but in the full month sold only "1,778" more copies? weird lol but it's growing and its what matters :^_^
