Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

1. Shanks v Mihawk
2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
3. Zoro > Luffy
4. Zoro v Sanji
5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
6. Mihawk's rank within the story
7. Law having CoC currently.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

And just like that, Kaido hype has been raise again as he just easily cut off Kiku's arm and stated Scabbards despite all of them combine weren't doing enough damage to really harm him or at least not on Oden's level. If Kaido is truly going to solo them all in just his Full Zoan, then imagine what we can see in his Hybrid Form, Awakening, and Full Power with Haki included on all. Few shouldn't be quick to judge Yonkos tanking damage thinking it means they are 'weak', but instead they are very hard tankers just like Big Mom who we saw last chapter virtually fine with no injuries after Strawhats surprise her with their attacks, but still isn't faze from situation by the slightest.

It truly will take a lot of effort to take down an Yonko and we beginning to see more of the hype why Yonkos were tough to get by as the more they show more of their power as the fight goes on.

I consider that fight to be Low diff, maybe even lower end of mid diff.

Kaido would only be a high diff fight for Prime Garp in my opinion.

And Kata would be a neg diff fight for Kaido.

So I’m not the only person who think Kata shouldn’t be a top tier.

In my opinion, to be a top tier you have to be able to fight even Prime Whitebeard and last for at least a little bit. Maybe even do a little bit of damage, not get instantly wrecked. You need to be able to delay him.

Literally only 3 people can fight Prime Whitbeard on equal terms.

Ok, let me rephrase, could hold their own briefly against Kaido or BM and do some damage and last for a little bit.

(Most Yonkotards seem to consider Kaido and BM equal to Prime WB anyway but I digress)

Oops I meant Sengoku depending on how high you have him. We know nothing of Rox so I will not mention him and sure, maybe Prime Rayleigh.

We probably will get at most, a chapter's worth of flashback if the sword's important? But if Ryuuma has anything to do with the Void Century or something with the Straw Hats' journey, then he'll definitely get a flashback.

I think the whole conversation started with when we were talking about how big the difference between Kata and Kaido was.

Anyway the point is that if Kaido is a top tier, Kata isn’t.

Kaidou and Katakuri can be top tier, but not on an equal standing. Katakuri isn't considered an Emperor-level, so of course he's inferior to Kaidou.

Without haki, these fodders are definitely screwed. THough I wonder if CoA can withstand lightning.

One Piece is a series that you can't really apply a numerical measurement when it comes to feats, and even then, you have to take their standing in the world into account because, as @Moegara said, it can be inconsistent.

Agree. I think discussion about power level in One Piece is pointless since the battles themselves don't always show that stronger = winner. Look at the battles in Arabasta.

The problem is that people always try direct comparison, like is character x stronger than character y, then they go through their feats shown and eventually it becomes subjective.

What one has to do is, rather than trying Top 10 tierlists, is mass comparison via more rough tiers.

Characters that are hyped by fans (total = 9):

• Gaban
• Beckman
• Mihawk
• Imu
• 5 Gorosei

Then you have other commanders, Shichibukai Supernovas, Scabbards, etc which is uncertain. IMHO Katakuri is among the strongest, but there's competition.

I wouldn't necessarily bet on the gorosei being that strong. I'd also make the point that even among the 21 people you mention being definitely stronger than katakuri there are people whom katakuri would give a run for their money. The sweet commanders, the 3 calamities, marco-jozu-vista... these are threats that require admirals to deal with. During the great war marco and jozu went toe to toe and held their own against admirals. Marco strikes me as stronger than katakuri as well but marco is still probably above most VAs at least (there's 2 others who were considered for admiral position though they are presumably weaker enough than issho and ryugokyo to justify them not getting the spots).

I'd love to see kaido using that sword though it's extremely unlikely he will change his big ass club for one. If I had to bet, the sword is there due to number's shenanigans.

Why is Weevil definitely stronger? Fleet admirals? Scabbards? Supernovas?
