How much involvement does Shueisha have in it? Was there supposed to be a WSJ manga too? Have they ever had a succesful original multimedia project outside V-jump?
Either way Level 5 is in a bad place right now and the game looks more scaled back and cheaper with every trailer released (they are still focusing on a mobile version too) . The big multimedia project worked out for them with Inazuma Eleven and Yokai Watch in the beginning, but they managed to run them into the ground, and have been trying to force these hits into existence ever since then. I'm afraid their attitude is going to bankrupt them if they stay on this course.
Sorry if a little off topic.
it's was introduced as L5 x WSJ team up, so I assume they're pretty involve & they specifically listed WSJ and not Shueisha, which basically confirm a manga as one of the media
I don't think they had other multimedia projects
DQ Dai ran in Jump and was a success but that wasn't a collab with Square and there was Obata's Blue Dragon manga that flopped & I don't think Mistwalker were involved either
outside of WSJ and V Jump, there was Mist Gears Blast on Plus which was a multimedia projects, the manga didn't do so well and I don't know about the game
shame about what's happening to Level5, Dark Cloud 2, DQ8 and 9, Yokai Watch, Ni no Kuni, Inazuma, Layton, LBX are some of my favorites franchises
