How much involvement does Shueisha have in it? Was there supposed to be a WSJ manga too? Have they ever had a succesful original multimedia project outside V-jump?

Either way Level 5 is in a bad place right now and the game looks more scaled back and cheaper with every trailer released (they are still focusing on a mobile version too) . The big multimedia project worked out for them with Inazuma Eleven and Yokai Watch in the beginning, but they managed to run them into the ground, and have been trying to force these hits into existence ever since then. I'm afraid their attitude is going to bankrupt them if they stay on this course.

Sorry if a little off topic.
Poor level 5. Inazuma is such an masterpiece, the latest anime season was so great and a good rebound from the terrible galaxy. but yeh.. many already lost fate when galaxy was released.

it's was introduced as L5 x WSJ team up, so I assume they're pretty involve & they specifically listed WSJ and not Shueisha, which basically confirm a manga as one of the media

I don't think they had other multimedia projects
DQ Dai ran in Jump and was a success but that wasn't a collab with Square and there was Obata's Blue Dragon manga that flopped & I don't think Mistwalker were involved either

outside of WSJ and V Jump, there was Mist Gears Blast on Plus which was a multimedia projects, the manga didn't do so well and I don't know about the game

shame about what's happening to Level5, Dark Cloud 2, DQ8 and 9, Yokai Watch, Ni no Kuni, Inazuma, Layton, LBX are some of my favorites franchises

Sakamoto Days' LCP and CP look promising. I have the feeling it could maybe take "CSM" spot in the magazine...

My guess/hope for Sakamoto Days is that it'll maybe be like Ass Class, where it's episodic serious stories happening amidst a regular slice of life setting which chains it all together.

The MC is actually quite a lot like Korosensei come to think of it (if it's like the oneshot). I guess it's having an influence after all?

Gbased on the oneshot and the color spread it definitely looks like it’ll be more in the Gintama realm, of mixing together comedy and serious plot. Doesn’t at all look or feel like a gag manga

Guess it’s fair to say that it will be an action comedy series with both one shot chapters and arcs here and there, with an overarching plot touched upon at times.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to reading it tomorrow

Where are you watching comedy? And so much comedy that debuted this year that you are seeing comedy in everything.

I saw the one shot 2 times and saw nothing comedy.

In addition, it already has agravity and corp and douphin to be the new gintama, no need for sakamoto to have that same function.

Well the issue cover calls it a "comedy action" so I think it's fair to say it's a comedy lol.

To be fair, every single series currently in WSJ has moments of comedy. They all rely on humour at some point. Sakamoto might not end up being a gag manga in the same vein as Me & Roboco or Agravity Boys or Moriking but it's sure to have moments of levity to balance out its violence.

It'll be nice if its a comedy action.
I can't picture something with that character design taking itself seriously.

well, what attracted the most attention in one shot was more violence than comedy.
If it is more of a comedy it will be very disappointing.

isn't it enough to have mashle, cop and dolphin and yozakura?
If it is another action comedy, it will be canceled quickly. Corp and doulphin are suffering because of this.

The core of the one shot was the gap between this retired old man living his life as a super market worker and the ultra-violent situation that happens later, it's innerhelntly comedic

I'm pretty sure the violence is at least in part supposed to be funny too, I mean, it's an old dude working at a supermarket curbstomping guys, that's funny no matter how graphic it is. I don't think you'll find yourself disappointed.

I actually had my best laughs in recent times when binging Dr. Stone.

Nope. I want more.

We have enough battle manga with super serious arcs going on. One Piece, MHA, JJK, CSM, I'm assuming BC.
What's one more lighthearted battle comedy?

Cop and Dolphin is not doing well because it didn't do enough to gain readers attention. That simple. It's got nothing to do with numbers of other manga in the same genre.
If that were the case, we would not have JJK exploding when Kimetsu is already eating up the market for a battle series or with MHA already established. Or we wouldn't have CSM consistently keep growing with each volume despite all of the above being from the same magazine.

If it's interesting enough to get the reader's attention, it'll do well.

Even Ayakashi go for a more serious arc now
