Eh? I don't think anyone ever implied WSJ does not like Kimetsu's success. Why would they hate it? They get the money from it. Watch them continue to milk this franchise for the next decade. This is the most volumes they've sold in a year, probably ever.

I mean this isn't a brand new practice for major companies. Trying to keep records in place to be able to boast about it.
It makes financial sense in a way because One Piece is still running. I get it. I get why they want to retain these records.

Shueisha is the first one to care about shilling print records, so much so that this PR report even includes how the gaiden has "the highest print for a spinoff of all time", yet you're here claiming they don't actually care about volume 23's first print when it would've been so much easier to just print the necessary amount and satisfy demand yet they chose not to do so.

The irony of watching you say Shueisha doesn't care when "highest first print of all time" has been a part of their marketing strategy for so long, and they still used it AGAIN for the gaiden, is something else.

If it doesn't matter, why bother tanking the volume's first print on purpose just so it doesn't break a "silly record"? It's not about being mad that "X series didn't break Y record", it's about laughing at the attachment that said company has to this record you yourself are calling "silly". You still haven't understood this after pages of arguing.

And calling everything that doesn't reflect your opinion a cult just reflects poorly on both you and your argument, FYI.

We made fun of Shueisha for the information from last year where they said One Piece sold 12M while Kimetsu sold 10M.
And we will make fun of Shueisha and WSJ now because they are playing favoritism and it's funny.

Yeah. Nakano’s a shit E-i-C, what else is new? I’ve always believed they’d never let it touch OP’s record ever since they came out with that BS claim about the sales last year. Even if it was an honest mistake, they never retracted it in the end. Such is the typical way Japanese do about business, I guess. Unless they’re blatantly breaking laws, though.

man, what a missed opportunity by Shueisha not ready at least another 110k by december 4th, but to instead choose to order reprint for it 6 days later (as of now, they might announced a few more, might be earlier but be later).

if they just decided to print another extra 2.785% of the volume they could have the golden opportunity to claim the highest initial manga print of all time , and since the best selling life to date kimetsu volume is more than 4.5M million copies and are still actively selling, that would not be a bad decision at all

eh, probably doesn't matter anyway I guess you could say it woould never sold that amount anyway. even though most of the most of the previous volumes have had crossed that threshold.

The wall might probably be gone by the time #23 are out anyway right, there aren't really anything that is making it is selling anymore right? and there are no more reprints of backlogs right?

a shame that kimetsu dies out already apparently and it missed out getting a good historic PR moment, and would have be safe bussines decisioon.. if the wall was still alive...

Nah. JJK 8 which is the earliest Vol from this year has sold 570k. So, Top 50 itself is debatable.
