I think Demon Slayer will keep the lead, but almost at the end he will be overtaken by Jujutsu Kaisen. It's hard to imagine and believe that DS with just one volume can maintain that top spot when Jujutsu will continue to release more volumes. Unless in the Kimetsu Stage that will be in summer they announce the second season for October.

Kimetsu would most likely do 30M-40M this year. It's already 11M with December only with zero signs of slowing down.
JJK boost would need to have extremely strong legs to beat that.

Oricon rankings are becoming Boring as hell because of Kimetsu no Mania... why so many people? Even a masterpiece like death note or Hokuto no Ken, dragon ball, one piece sold so much... For me it should be a 500k-1M seller manga. There are much better series around
Anyway I hope UxU selling will be better... the author is a genius. I hope to see some backlog of Mashle, Agravity boys and Yozakura family
It not about what is better or who taste is better, it how a series can touch so many demographic. Most work considered masterpiece also very niche, you average readers don't care about deep philosophy questions, complex morality, power system and world building, most people read things for enjoyment first and foremost. OP literally too long for most casual readers, Hokuto no Ken is old and many of it element outdated, Dragon ball is more of a boys thing while KnY have access to the female readers pool too.

Well, I honestly see it unlikely, taking into account that Kimetsu has more volumes to recover than Jujutsu.

Bokura no Ketsumei #1
That’s the most generic cookie cutter manga art I think I’ve ever seen. That’s akin to those American “how to draw manga” art books you always see in bookstores here.

Boku-tachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai #20
Well, that’s not blatantly aimed at foot fetishists or anything.

Oh, I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought the Our Blood Oath cover was plain as shit.

I like Asumi’s cover though. Sensei will probably get her own cover showing off her...assets. Or play up the ice skating side. XD

That being said the more I think about WNL’s final chapter, the more unsatisfied I feel.

I do wonder if Kakazu might switch to Square for their next project, might fit them more.

Didn't notice it until now, but JJK's translator changed in the last chapter (from Stefan Koza to John Werry). Wishing best luck to the new one since I suppose Jujutsu must be one of the hardest WSJ series to translate. I'm also a little sad for Stefan, he made weekly videos analyzing the chapters and even cosplayed as Nanami

Since there was so many hits ending this year, which of the mangaka does everyone think will return with another hit, and who'll return with a flop? My guess

Furudate -------------------- flop if he does another sports series, hit if he tries something different
Koyoharu Gotouge --------- will definitely at least have a semi-hit (if they don't retire early on the massive amount of money they have now)
Kaui and Posuka Demizu --- I think they can get another hit
Miura ----------------------- probably flop, Yuuna was never the biggest and dropped popularity a lot in the latter half, so I don't think a return will work out
Usazaki ---------------------- I think she'll have another hit, but it'll maybe take a couple tries with different authors first
Fujimoto -------------------- obviously will be sticking with Jump+ for the foreseeable future
Tsutsui ---------------------- I can see Tsutsui getting a second hit, but only if it's distinctly different and doesn't just feel like WNL but X

Of the things to catch up on: I prefer old WSJ and am actually quite looking forward to the next few competitive rounds of serialisations where the slew of middling 2020 series will have to prove themselves against each other and only the best will make it to the end of the year - there's too many series that need to be cut that in most other years would have been cancelled already. It's fine to have a fair few series with growth that don't do anything special from the beginning, but we definitely need a few more hits in the next year or so. It's been a great year to be a newcomer in the magazine but that's likely to change in 2021.

Another thing: Complaining about veteran series taking up the space in the Oricon rather than celebrating the success they're all having and bringing to the magazine just seems like a not-so-roundabout way of complaining about your own favourite not getting that same treatment. If another series you wish was doing that good in its place and dominating, would you be of the same opinion? Always baffled me to see people complain about the success of a series currently in its peak just because it's taking the spotlight away from others. Your favourite just needs to perform better, simple as that. And even if it doesn't that fine because sales doesn't necessarily mean quality.

Also, with regards to Demon Slayer in particular - watching it break records and continue outperforming in everything it does is fun. It's a cultural phenomenon and we're watching that unfold in realtime, so make the most of the moment and all the many positives its providing in an otherwise shitty year.

I can see Furudate and Gotouge returning with hits if they so choose - they both have dedicated fanbases who will be awaiting what they come out with next (if anything at all). Kaui and Posuka Demizu I also see doing well, and Usazaki I hope she does; both are already active with oneshots so they'll be back to give at another go at least. Fujimoto is only going to get more popular with the anime and Part 2 coming, not concerned about his career at all. The only two I'm not so confident about are Mirua and Tsutsui, mainly because neither of their series felt that big in comparison to there rest of the magazine.

I actually agree with you. I had a prediction about the peak of Kimetsu and in every turn my boundaries of what's possible and what's impossible for the series have been shattered. Now, even though I want to know how other series are performing I'm enjoying to see it climbing and it even makes me more hopeful to see how far will Jujutsu go. Seeing a series break through the 1M barrier is always exciting, and yes, I would have been amazingly happy if Psyren was serialized today and was enjoying an anime adaptation by Mappa to recieve half the growth of JJK, even though I know it's no more than a fantasy. Any manga that has Posuka's art, I'm in on it and she and Kaiu Shirai are a great dou. I didn't read Act-Age but I will follow Usazaki's next work and I hope she will find an even bigger success

It'll probably get announced in Feb, not summer...or at least I hope lol.
