Seems like 2020 was also a crazy year for manga sales outside of Japan.


Naruto's French publisher revealed how well the manga sold in 2020 :
-Total sales of 1,193,950 units (vs 667,650 in 2019. +78.8% YoY)
-Volume 1 sold 127,850 units (vs 59,050 in 2019. +116.5% YoY)

And it's likely that this is not exclusive to Naruto. Other manga such as One Piece, My Hero Academia, The Promised Neverland and more (non-WSJ manga such as Fairy Tail, Attack on Titan, Berserk, etc.) probably had a huge growth in 2020. Thanks to the lockdown and people wanting to read more I'm guessing.

Edit: Volume 1 was the best selling manga volume of 2020 in France

Worth noting that it only costs 3€ vs 7€ on average for most manga

Since there's usually a consensus every couple months on what everyone's views are on the currently running series, and we're about to get a new round of serialisations, it might be worth doing it again now that we're in 2021. I found an up-to-date tier list someone had made of all the current series (plus a few that just ended in the past few weeks). Instead of listing out as normal, how would you rank them on the tier list?

Mine is definitely more bottom heavy than I would have thought but for me anything C tier or above is at least something I typically enjoy week-to-week. If Burn the Witch were included I'd put it in S Tier just after One Piece.

Wasn't really a fan of the recent line-up, and it shows. But a few series I dislike ended and this batch will have the return of a few authors I really like, so 2021 is already shaping up to be more aligned with my tastes.

Not to go into too much detail but:
SS and S- Favorites
A- Consistently enjoy, even if not always perfect
B- Mostly positive but occasional negative leanings, still like to read
C- Neutral/no strong feelings, still enjoy but often aren't highlights
D- Not a fan of but don't really hate
E- Actively dislike

Overall pretty excited for this next batch, glad to see Matsui and especially Shinohara back, as well as some genre diversity from the other newbies. That coupled with axing some newbies I won't really miss has me looking forward to what the lineup is going to look like this year.

D: More often than not disliking the developments of the series. Heavily considering dropping.

Honestly I enjoy the lineup for the most part. Moriking just went downhill as it went, and OBO is kinda fun to read at times so those are still fine lol. I'm excited for the new 4 series.
