Wow JJK's sales are insane! Will likely reach 1m next week since it's still ranking #1 this week

Btw, are Mashle and UxU supposed to have their 1st anniversary covers in February since WSJ is debuting new series rn?

Also, do we know when will WSJ drop the covers for February volumes?
It's not guaranteed that they'll get anniversary covers, not all new hits get one at that point (I don't think CSM did for example).

It seems fairly likely they will considering the promotion they've had so far, but it's possible we won't see one for the 1st anniversary since they've both already had a cover.

New vomic today is "Make Heroine wo Katasetai" (I want to make the losing heroine win), by Nakayama Michiru and Ashigaki Tei. It was published in GIGA last summer.

Another romcom by a new author. Maybe Jump is gearing up for a big romcom round later this year (since it appears we are not getting any this time). Or maybe they are using Youtube views to decide which one to publish.
Or they could simply be voicing the GIGA one-shots that got color pages. If so, Matsui Rin's Kimetsu look-alike would be next.

I wonder why would they need to wait so long with these reprints.

Also JJK's backlog ranged between 102K-130K which would mean almost all volumes are above 1M and Vol. 1 is above 1.3M

I wonder if JJK will be as successful as MHA in the US?

I have an even better question: Do any of you believe MHA can crack the 100M worldwide ceiling? MHA to me, seems like it would top out at 45-50 volumes. Given the volume to print ratio so far, at best I’m seeing it having 65M worldwide. An impressive number, but not the numbers that would place you in the “eternal legends” tier.

The fact that JJK is having such an absurdly huge boost right after KnY seems almost unbelievable to me. If I'm not mistaken, its per volume sales this week is far bigger than that of the best week of Attack on back in 2013 and it is now on pace to sell at least 2m per volume by years end which is enough to beat One Piece. Really, what is going on with the manga industry in Japan? Did KnY bring many new fans to the medium? Or is it due to COVID 19?

Second state of emergency taking effect? The sales on gaming side went up as well.

Nope. Even if it sells 50M worldwide, which it won't, it'll need 50M in Japan.
Only way it'll reach 50M in Japan is with 50 Vols with 1M ~ prints. For that, it needs to be super consistent in sales which is pretty much impossible. It's sales will decline, like all series.

Assuming it reaches 50M in Japan, it won't come close to 50M worldwide. By the end of it's run, 20-30M is the most that it can do.
60-70M is realistic, I'd say.

If this boost continues, how many copies could Jujutsu reach by the end of the year?

If these are your numbers in a month then no, Id say between 50 and 60 million. The top US list without actual numbers is quite deceiving.

how much DQ new edition volumes sold since the start of the oricon year?

I think I read somewhere they're planning to release 20 volumes or something this year
even with above average sales, i think that's enough for it to end the year among the best selling series, 25 years after the manga ended

If you look at past few years, my hero is consistent in the top US chart, and it has 5 million in circulation as of April 2020. Viz released the first volume in August 5, 2015. So from August 5, 2015 to April, 2020 it reached 5 million

Now let's do some easy average math, that come out to about 1 million circulation per year (obviously the number is not the same, some years it might have higher circulation number....), so round 700k~800k volume sales per year give or take, total to about 4 million sales over 5 years

and estimate of 50k~100k sales if you made the top 25 list give or take

fun fact:
It is selling more than Naruto when it has 23 volumes in the USA

The 5 million is not a US number, it's a Viz number. And given that it was at no point stated to be specific to the US, one could assume that the number includes every country Viz publishes in, aka United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, india.

I would say however that even accounting for that MHA's numbers likely still top Naruto's with ease in the US and they seem to be steadily increasing.

We currently kind of have another big three with One piece, MHA, and JJK. With their sales being way beyond whoever's next (CSM just ended so I don't count it)

On other vomic news, the SAKAMOTO DAYS vomic has passed 1 million views today. It's the most viewed vomic in the channel, and the third most viewed video of the past few months (after a couple of Chainsaw man PVs, one of which will be surpassed within days).

Whether or not vomics are good indication of success is up in the air, since there's not much past data to go on. Youtube PVs have been misleading in that regard: for instance, Guardian of the Witch's outperformed both UndeadUnluck's and Mashle's.
However, the amount of views that the SAKAMOTO vomic has is simply extraordinary, so I'm confident in considering it a sign of the series' good early reception.

For comparison's sake, the second most viewed vomic is from one of Gotoge's old one-shots, with slightly under 700k views. The mean of views (ignoring the video released today) is at around 116k, and Build King's vomic, which debuted a week before SAKAMOTO's, only has 40k views. Robo-ko has 61k, Yozakura 262k, Magu 134k and Ayakashi 404k (I'm looking at the first batch for the first three). Notably, another of Suzuki's one-shots (Corpse District) surpasses all of them with 447k views.
