but if the reason Build King is not being well received is the readers think the art is outdated then I don't see how it can recover

and that's not even the only mountain it need to climb, there's also the fight against narrative and the word of mouth that's starting to form around it
"it's flopping" "jump readers don't like it" "it's not interesting" "the next samurai 8"

and all of this is happening during a new serialization round where if Jump readers don't like it they can just wait another week for something different to be
inside the mag

the first season dvd sales underperformed didn't they? they probably greenlit the second season before seeing the sales and now it's not a priority

So glad to see Sakamoto Days flexing there at the top 5 for a 2nd straight week.
The opposite is Build King and I don't think it'll improve until the start of the exam arc. If it ever improves at all.
Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin is pretty much confirmed to be in its final arc.

Definetely the best possible ad right now.

I'm hoping for TPN: Brotherhood too, but I don't see it happen in the near 10 years or so, if it ever happens.

Main thoughts on the TOC:

• Not too much shakeup from last week, most of the veterans at the usual top spots.
• It's a shame JJK is absent since other than Mission: Yozakura Family everything is ranked this week and gives a pretty clear picture (though it would probably be 2nd-3rd place anyways)
• Sakamoto Days still in the top 55 and getting a colour page next week? There is justice in the world.
• Meanwhile Build King moved up one spot to 13th...
• I believe this is the first time Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin has come in dead last. Not surprised either, unless the sales for volume 2 are through the roof I think it ending next serialisation round is a given at this point.

On the topic of The Promised Neverland's anime - it was unlikely it was ever going to get a full adaptation since it airs on a Noitamina timeslot which is typically for 11 (or 12) episode series that are more niche. There aren't many multiple season/cour shows that air there and if they do they're quite rare.

In fact, according to a Reddit user, the real title chosen by Akutami is actually "Sophism", a term used to indicate a senseless statement or objection, apparently valid but actually based on basic logical errors.

In fact it makes sense, I couldn't understand what "Hard and White" had to do with the events of the chapter [/ SPOILER]

Speaking about translators. Nobody fixed that mistake in first chapter of Elusive Samurai.

It was last in Issue #46.

While we are on the topic of translation, the most recent English MHA volume had such a weird translation error to the point where the official translator had to lock his Twitter account because of it. Im still baffled by it myself.

Ah, I remember now. That was the weird issue where three bottom dwellers at the time (We Never Learn, Magu-chan, Agravity Boys) all had colour pages so the rest of the TOC looked quite strange as a result. Agreed on its lack of promotion not being a good sign. At least Magu-chan had some colour pages recently while Roboco has its twitter, this new promo video, and a colour page last week.

Looks like the Roboco promo video is going viral, already 130k views in ~4 hours.

Certainly not looking good for Build King if it's at the bottom again. Phantom Seer still is in a weird position down there too.

It's good to see Sakamoto Days staying up high and getting a colour page too, it's been a fun series so far and it's nice to have a new series actually placing up with the long runners for a change instead of only being above other new series.

I would take that Reddit post with 0 grain of sand.

The JPN title is 堅白, which is literally Hard and White, and not the phrase the reddit post says. Although given Gege’s past use of truncated version of four-character idioms with Chinese origin it’s easy to get 堅白異同 chapter title. If you look up the phrase 堅白同異 in a Jpn dictionary, you will get the same “Hard and White” story that this Reddit post alleges to be the “mistranslation”: when you see a rock you can only tell that it’s white, not that it’s hard. When you feel a rock, you can only tell that it’s hard, not that it’s white. But neither hard and white is the rock. It’s part of dialectic analysis in Gong-sun Longzi, which has been dubbed as sophism.

Hard and White is not a mistranslation or a mistake. It’s a literal translation of choice.

If Build King stays down there, it's possible we may see it cancelled next round (unless HSF sells terribly and there's only two new series).

When was the last time a veteran got cancelled at under 30 chapters? I think Illegal Rare ended on ch 29 so I'm thinking that, though the last instant cancellation was maybe Hachi slightly before it.

Cop and Dolphin is easily the next thing getting axed. Disappointing sales from a veteran and not showing any signs of growth, so far. Called this weeks ago.

Sakamoto Days V1 is going to be intriguing to watch. Getting a CP so early is usually a classic sign of decent popularity tho there are those that go against this, Moriking being an example. That being said, it's almost guaranteed to be a hit at this point.

Another Mashle CP. Truly, the next king of WSJ. Should be getting a cover for the anniversary in a couple of weeks.

Build King being low is kinda irrelevant at this point until V1 comes out. But given it's low position and no CPs thus far, I can only assume it'll do bad.

That Roboco ad is fantastic.
