100% normal for washed up NFL quarterbacks like Colin Kaepernick to receive overwhelming publicity and attention. In exchange for pushing weird agendas relating to racism?

100% normal for the public to be spammed by weird journalistic pieces about "white privilege".

100% normal for weird things like cultural appropriation to be pushed.

...

You know there are people who do not think these things are "normal" at all.

If you can believe that.

If cultural appropriation were real.

Most of us might be racist for trying to appropriate asian culture by watching anime or reading manga.

Somehow people don't think anything odd about that.

You said the internet was "filled" with black people that think all whites are racists. That's hyperbole. Because there's no way in HELL you've spoken to every single black person with social media or a streaming platform.

As for me saying I've never heard any other black person say that ever, that's true. I'm not saying none have said that. I'm saying I personally haven't experienced it.

Because I haven't, lmao. Anecdotal, sure. But true all the same.

ofc. but then again you talked like all blacks never had this thought in consideration which is false. You sound like someone who talks in the behave of all black people. I just wanted to point out there are bad apples.
'Fraid not. I never typed the word "all". I try to be careful with my wording to avoid situations like this.I said I haven't heard any say that.

I wasn't talking about the whole and all blacks which is clear. "Filled" means there are many cases, It doesn't mean every black do that.

This is something I've never heard any other black person say, ever. EVER. We don't even say all policemen are racist.

AFAIK the american north of that era was primarily composed of cities. Being further north translates to a colder climate. The south being nearer to the equator produced warmer conditions better suited to growing crops. Which is part of what led to the south being pro slavery. The biggest issue of the civil war wasn't slavery but taxes. (I could be wrong on some of that BTW.)
There were geographical reasons as well as climate reasons. Cash crops like tobacco and cotton did not grow heartily in the North. Like I mentioned before, the Fall Line in the North was more advantageous for coastal cities. That and sparser farmland let to them not needing manual labor to the degree that plantations did.

But again, none of this matters if slavery wasn't legal in the first place. And all sorts of people from all different walks of life took advantage of this practice.

The "biggest" issue was slavery because of it's economic importance as well as state's rights issues. If the biggest reason wasn't slavery, then the Southern states wouldn't have cared about Lincoln being elected and wouldn't have seceded in the first place. One of the most frustrating things people can do when talking about the Civil War is to act like enslavement of black people was somehow immaterial to the conflict.

You have to be careful when you say things like this if you truly want productive conversations, because it doesn't look like you're really asking questions in good faith when you pepper insults and motivations in at the get go. Why does Kaepernick's intentions have to be motivated by anything other than a wish for reformed racial relations?

100% normal for the public to be spammed by weird journalistic pieces about "white privilege".
How often does this happen for you to claim they're spammed by it? And why would that matter to anyone that accepts that it exists?

100% normal for weird things like cultural appropriation to be pushed.
What's weird about cultural appropriation?

You know there are people who do not think these things are "normal" at all.
I'm well aware. But not all of them are unwilling to hear the alternative, or are closed off to the idea of introspection. And THOSE are the ones that need to hear about cultural appropriation and white privilege. Because until someone shows they're not willing to learn, there's no reason to assume they aren't.

If cultural appropriation were real.

Most of us might be racist for trying to appropriate asian culture by watching anime or reading manga.

That's... not cultural appropriation.

Cultural appropriation would be if I were to wear a kimono around and folded it right over left instead of left over right. Some Japanese would think "Well, ninjabot is a weeb. He just wants to look like a samurai, it's weird but he's not hurting anyone. Let him look like a fool in public if he wants."

Others will say "He folded it right over left! You only fold right over left if you're going to a funeral! This gaijin should at least do his research if he's gonna wear the kimono! Insensitive asshole! What he thinks is a fashion statement holds cultural significance to us! How does he think we feel seeing him like that!?"

Both of these people are right, by the way.

What about any of these things is weird? Privilege exists whether you want to accept it or not. Cultural appropriation does as well... not that all of it is automatically bad.

People think a lot of things, that doesn't make them right or wrong

Yep. Didn't say all. I see where the confusion is though. I didn't specify that the "we" was only referring to the black people I've been around. Pedantic or not, I'm still right, lmfao

Cultural appropriation says white people liking rap music is racist. An example of whites trying to steal the culture of blacks and other minority races.

If white people enjoying hip hop is racist.

Then non asians enjoying anime and manga should also be racist via cultural appropriation.

(?)

To clarify, cultural appropriation is only a problem when you're taking something valued by another culture and diminishing it's importance. Like wearing an native american feather head dress as a halloween costume.

I see! but google defines it as adoption of an element of a culture, There is no stealing cultures about it.

I think i would be proud if someone adopted something from my culture. Not calling it racism or theft.

I mean if you mock other cultures then yeah it's racism lol. However, i still don't know how watching anime could be racist to asians.

Plain and simple....when you have to be classed as a race....black white purple green...thats racists.....

For example.... @Raven
I know plenty of Egyptians....they don't consider themselves black....but you are indeed people of color.

On top of that from the same continent.....how the fuck does that work?

Im quite bright skinned cause of my biracial parentage....how does one decide.

By the fact if I can't look at a woman/man and see just a woman/man without color....to me imho opinion racist.

Stop being another zombie to this cycle of upbringing.

NOT ALL BLACKS BELIEVE ALL WHITES ARE RACIST!!!!
Other wise I wouldn't exist

Good to see you again too, lol. I stopped coming around because once Naruto and Bleach was over with I didn't have anything to talk about in the manga sphere because I hadn't gotten into any others. Just stopped by here outta boredom one day and found people acting like Trump isn't racist so I had to make myself heard lol.

I actually agree on that, I find classifying humans with colors is extremely racist, but Is there a way to talk about racism issues without classifying people with colours? Without a doubt you guys (Americans) suffer huge racism problems and it echoes in the rest of the world. It’s sad honestly.

Well there are all colours in Egypt, But they don’t see themselves as black or white nation. And that’s an amazing thing. Like you see both white and black people are fighting over Ancient Egypt like it belong to them when it does not. It belong to the Egyptians alone, People with mixed colors in both ancient snd modern times.

You look like amazing, You belong to the amazing people xD

Same. And I'm a black man living in the south. This is something I've never heard any other black person say, ever. EVER. We don't even say all policemen are racist. The only people that I ever hear making this assertion is conservative youtubers claiming to understand what people on the left believe. Which is dangerous because that's where a lot of people get their ideas about the other side from.
I've seen Black people and people of color say white people are racist, but they also know there are white people who are allies as well. I think it's conservatives who like to make shit up or exaggerate just to victimize themselves/white people when the truth is, white people get criticized because of the shit they do, like the KKK, Proud Boys, and etc. It's ironic because they'll demand all Muslims apologize for the acts of very few or lump Black people or BLM protesters in as rioters or thugs.

You have to be careful when you say things like this if you truly want productive conversations, because it doesn't look like you're really asking questions in good faith when you pepper insults and motivations in at the get go. He doesn't want productive conversations though, he's usually just trolling or trying to get a reaction.

You really need to stop reading conservative bullshit. I've never heard of any Black person or person of color say white people liking rap was racist or cultural appropriation or whatever. What they're mad about is how white people get away with things like dreadlocks or went from making fun of thick lips to paying for thick lips while Black people have been disciplined or told they're not allowed to have dreadlocks in school, at work, or etc.

Good to see you again too, lol. I stopped coming around because once Naruto and Bleach was over with I didn't have anything to talk about in the manga sphere because I hadn't gotten into any others. Not just the Bollywood celebrities but also sportspersons and other influential people. Too bad though, outsiders siding with the farmers won't do anything but rattle the jingoistic, hyper-nationalistic people (and there seems to be a lot of those in number) which seems to be happening right now. The Indian media is peddling that the Biden administration is supportive of the farm laws and some outlets are actually peddling that the Biden administration "hails" the reforms. Dunno if that is actually true but it seems like a case of media managing how the farm laws look to the average person to me. And again, even if Biden administration was against it, it probably wouldn't mean that the farm reforms would be repealed.

Indian media is so full of shit, I'm not surprised that some Indians are brainwashed as result.

I think it's only a "problem" in specific circumstances. In any other case it's literally...culture. It's how it develops.

Lol, those were the good old days. I remember sitting at work fuming because I couldn't get home fast enough to reply in the Naruto arena threads because someone somewhere said something bad about Sasuke (or any Uchiha for that matter). I wanna be that excited about manga again. Refreshing mangahelpers over and over in hopes of the spoilers for this weeks newest chapter being up?

Sigh. I've never even gotten into OP either. I keep wanting to but it's just... TOO MUCH. Lol.

Careful, you're sounding like a conservative. It's not your place to tell someone else what they're allowed to be offended by. I will agree more often than not it isn't a big deal, but in the scenarios I mentioned (when things of significant cultural importance are made light of), that's when it's bad.
