I enjoyed all 4 of the new series. If I had to pick one, I guess I would go with WW to survive.

Also it's cool that Witch Watch has the most views on its PV for the batch, already passed 200k views. Only Phantom Seer, Burn the Witch and WW now have passed 200k views on their PV.

I think this a good indicator that interest for the series exists (or at least for Shinohara as an author), but, to play Devil's Advocate, let me point out that a lot of people are mentioning in the comments that they thought it was an announcement for Burn The Witch. So that could have increased the view count.

Elusive Samurai has also been having good performance on youtube. The PV is past 100k and so are both vomics.

I'll probably go with the Ball Parade, because it's currently the only sport manga in the magazine and imo it have a lot of potential for different developments.

I tell c. Witch Watch is generic and Elusive Samurai has plenty of issues it needs to iron out rather quickly. Ball Parade is fine but of course we have to see some other characters before judging. My outlook is i tell c is going to be at least average weekly while these others will have highs and lows for sure. But obviously too early to tell

Kowloon Ball Parade. Jump what need the most right now is a spokon, and while I haven't felt it, Kowloon chapter 1 has been good for a lot of people.

since big part of the chapter was "characters speak like an airhead" jokes

do you guys think that a lot of the jokes is lost in translation/lost in the cultural difference

I root for I tell C and Nine Dragons. Although I consider that Elsive Samurai and Witch Watch are more likely to survive.

Don’t take it from me. But I’ve seen Elusive Samurai have the best reception on the JP internet. Similar to how early JJK and Undead got great reception online. Have to wait and see how this plays out obviously, but if I was a betting man I’d say Elusive Samurai has the best chances for survival currently.

Magu author definitely seems inspired by Pokémon especially after referencing it in the manga and author comments lol

I thought he was being a captain, when i think of coach I think of someone like Daigo in major2nd, knowledge of every position etc.

Definitely not unheard of for there to be a player manager in baseball (I.e. Joe Torre for the Mets back in ‘77, and a couple others).

Some interest, but mostly hesitance/waiting for more given the drought in Jump baseball hits. Like some said here, waiting to see the other team members introduced.

Elusive definitely has the upper hand insofar as series go. Looking at the weekly twitter polls, it won on its first chapter by a landslide, getting over 100 nods out of the pool, and got second and third places for the next two chapters. Its word of mouth is also overall the strongest, benefitted by Matsui helming the manga, so it has a lot of things in the bag.

Favorite first chapter of the new serialization round goes to I Tell C, which I was originally anticipating that I wouldn't enjoy too much. I'm really curious to learn more about the main girl. Although I wish the author would've continued doing romcoms, I'll give them props for trying something different. Witch Watch was the second best which had a decent first chapter, but didn't really do anything to majorly win me over. Nine Dragons' Ball Parade (full disclosure, not a sports fan) wasn't as bad I thought it would be, but I still didn't find myself really liking anything about it. The Elusive Prince massively disappointed me, and I actively disliked basically everything about the first chapter.

Now if I had to guess about their survival odds, I'd guess The Elusive Samurai is probably most likely to succeed based off of the popular author and Japan-centric setting/storyline. Witch Watch is probably second safest being from a veteran author, and with Dolphin on its way out, I can see this getting the 4/5 volume treatment even if it struggles to sell well. Nine Dragons' Ball Parade and I Tell C I'm ranking at the same odds since both series aren't written by popular veterans, and it tends to be difficult to break into sports and crime/suspense series.

Phantom Seer is going to be a pretty interesting series to keep track of if it stays in the bottom 3 each week while also selling above some higher placed series, I'm really curious to see if decent sales alone are enough to keep a series going in current Jump long term. I suppose we've already somewhat seen that with Agravity Boys, but it had a bunch of old series ending as padding and Phantom doesn't quite have the same luxury.

I guess it's also possible that it'll find something that works and start rising in the ToC, but Yozakura by comparison managed that by switching genres (and also was getting some higher placements before that to learn from), while Phantom Seer is already a battle shounen and, at least so far, doesn't seem too interested in changing up the formula much.

When was the last time we had a battle shounen last into year 2 before getting axed?

The last few have all either been gag or sports, was it as far back as Magico?

Kowloon is definitely better than most of sports manga serialized and drawings are amazing, but the story still....
About elusive samurai I am a bit disappointed, I don't like it at all. I expected a better manga from Matsui (same for Shimabukuro)

Elusive Samurai does not catch my attention at all. It has some nice parts, but I almost did not read this week's chapter.
I am not a good representation of the public they are aiming it to. I'd prefer the story to be in a fantasy land with fantasy characters, disconnected with JP.

ITC's chapter introduced some nice details about the plot. My biggest complaints are its name and the brother's generic visual, but that's ok.

I found WW cute, the side-effects of magic are a good source of gags ( but that must not be overused). I like the art as well. Actually the art from this batch has been good. ES is pretty nice too.

NDBP was OK. Need to read more of it. I'm not a baseball fan but I'll wait and see how the plot progresses.
