FDK Natsu ≈ FP Gajeel (Hiro Mashima statement) > LFD Natsu ≈ ISD Gajeel > BSS Mira > Base Natsu ≈ Base Gajeel.
BSS Mira will have an extreme hard time to tag ISD Gajeel with his shadow intangibility along with the major power increase from base to dual forms presents.

Going from prior knowledge in the original series, DF > Algeria > ISD > Sitri > BSS. There's been no indication in the 100YQ that BSS is stronger than the dual forms. Gajeel giving Natsu a high-diff fight is a greater feat than stalemating Skullion.
Lol.

Skullion > LFD Natsu

If FDK Natsu > FP Gajeel then DF Natsu >>>>>> any form of Gajeel.

Yes, that is how exerting strength works. I weigh 180lbs. Anyone that can move 180lbs can tackle me if I'm stationary and relaxed. If I throw a back kick, I am effectively generating over 800lbs of force. This force will move a 250lbs heavybag if I connect with it.

Many reasons. One, because Acnologia can just eat their magic attacks. You need to have an attack involving physical objects for him to not just eat it. Two, because not everyone is strong enough to do it. It basically takes Jellal and Erza going all out to generate enough force to do it. Three, and this is probably the main reason, because it wouldn't actually accomplish much. Remember, Erza's attack didnt actually do any damage to Acnologia. Her swords broke upon his scales. If not for the boat incurring motion sickness, Acnologia would have just gotten back up. They'd just exhaust themselves wasting their strength.

You tell me. Do you believe that Acnologia was exerting the same amount of strength he exerted when he shredded Igneel? And do you believe that Erza can shred Igneel? If the answer to either of these is no, then Erza simply didn't overpower Acnologia at full strength.
err, only person who can move 180lbs must also weigh 180 lbs or more. to move something heavier than your self, you need friction to hold your self. in other words you can brenchpress more than your weight, resistance is being provided by the bench. but you cant push or pull something that weighs more than you, provided friction is constant for both.

only reason erza attack didnt do anything to him was because she isnt a ds. aconologia wasnt gonna tank that attack if it was ds (medium damage, i guess).

i cant say that. because scenario was different. technically air wouldnt provide any friction, so if we are talking purely physics, unless aconolgia had time to produce enough momentum, only then, he would over power erza attack. it hard for me to imagine a flying bird, resisting anything, without flapping alot.

but somehow, lets say magic can be used to maintain one position. where would aconolgia exactly exert. the attack didnt originate from the same place where erza stood. he basically will get hit in the back and crash to ground, while exerting forward. mindless aconologia will have same reaction speed as normal one. so i dont see anything else possible here.

unless you are saying aconolgia attack hits erza attack.
well you already know my thought there.
stronger attacks wins. a weaker mage cant overpower stronger mage top tier attack. so unless aconologia isnt really trying, he will easily over power erza attack
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

He does it with a wing attack. Sting does it to Mard Geer too. Like I said, no matter how much power you have, you can always be knocked over, always, as long as they have the strength to move your weight. Only time that doesn't happen is when you use your power to resist it.
Now not everyone has the level of strength needed to move a big dragon like Acno, fodder like Orga or whatever don't for example. But Erza? Yes. Jellal? Yes. Christina? Yes. Makarov? Yes. So while sinking him is an impressive feat of physical power, it is in the end just a Jellal tier feat, or even a Christina/Makarov tier feat.

So you actually think Christina would knock over Ikusatsunagi lol? No, it would break into pieces upon collision without Ikusa even noticing.
i can barely make out anything with the winged attack. i dont see anytime sting sent mard flying either.

i really dont think weight and magic work like that in fairy tail
--- Double Post Merged, ---

Never said that, Gildarts was fighting a losing battle against August. Gildarts did better 2v1 against August than Jellal did 4v1. Gildarts's and Jellal's feats against August just meant that August > Gildarts > Jellal.

That battle was mostly off-screened. The finale was shown with August stomping them.

August > Irene, no debate there.

Cap. Gildarts stated God Serena in his prime would've been a strong opponent/challenger for Gildarts, meaning they was on the same level. God Serena at full power most likely would've been mid-diff to high-diff by Gildarts.
i dont understand anything you are saying
1) August and irene are equal. mentioned couple of times in the manga.
2) gildarts and serena arent. gildarts only wondered how strong he would be if alive.
i cant believe you are giving more weight to point 2 than to 1, even though point 1 is mentioned couple of times by different people and portrayed as such as well
all we know, august low diffed jellal + cs
and his equal got wrecked by erza +wendy
which logically follows that erza>>jellal

erza rot acnologia feat is feat of strength
while jellal aconologia one is feat of speed and i guess defensive magic. and his aconologia was also weaker.

I can understand him backing down the first time because I believe Laxus said it would be bad for both of them (mostly because Laxus doesn’t want to become enemies with a friend of the guild)
Laxus is talking about starting a fight in the middle of his town. Which will undoubtedly lead to issues, property damage, civilians endangered, guilds rep with neighbors. It was a Commander’s move, not a soldiers. Another point towards the Laxus being GM argument. Jellal means he can’t win.

What's there to see? Natsu hits him with wing attack, Hades goes flying. As for Sting. Just youtube Sting, Rogue and Natsu vs Mard Geer, it's quicker than flicking through the manga pages. Sting sends Mard flying through walls. It's in the manga too. Not that you need to rely on either if these, this shit is rife throughout the manga. Even the likes of Lucy can send Jacob flying with a casual kick.

It does, and the manga reflects this constantly. Natsu doesn't punch Sting further than he punches Mard Geer, does he? No, actually I'm pretty sure he punches Mard further lol. How? If power just passively makes you harder to move, how is it Mard flies further than Sting? The answer is obvious, it doesn't passively make you harder to move, you have to actively make it do so. Without doing so only your weight matters.
So to answer your earlier question on Acno being as hard to move as Elfman. Yes, he is. If Jellal hit Elfman with the attack he hit Acno with, do you think Elfman would have flown further? No. He just would've taken more damage because he is less durable.

Base Natsu damaged Skullion. LFD power boost >> base level. LFD Natsu would've manhandled Skullion. They'd both be able to cancel out their intangibilities (Ash V Lightning), but LFD has much more destructive power.
Evidence: Reread Natsu Vs Max, Gajeel Vs Rogue, LFD & ISD Vs Tempester & Torafuzar before Torafuzar plunged them underwater.

Stop the cap. Multi-Flame DF Natsu > Ignia DF Natsu > Giant Gajeel > Regular DF Natsu ≈ Regular DF Gajeel > FDK Natsu ≈ FP Gajeel > LFD Natsu ≈ ISD Gajeel > Base Natsu ≈ Base Gajeel.

Are you implying that Erza > Gildarts then?
Here's August stating he was the strongest amongst the Spriggan 12.

Gildarts fought August at decently with Cana's help. Gildarts was getting low-diff prior. Gildarts is the strongest member in FT aside from Natsu in the Alvarez Arc.
Irene was toying with Erza prior to revealing her past. Wendy Belserion was beating Erza low-diff. Irene's affection got in the way and result in Irene's 'suicide attempt.' Erza and Wendy were fighting a losing battle.
August handily beating Gildarts > Irene Vs Erza & Wendy.

Like Brandish said to Makarov, you are mistaken : he is the strongest "individual one", same as Eileen. They are portraye on equal terms as unrivaled Wizards in the World.

But you can see Eileen at mid-level Spriggan, like Erza is in Fairy Tail.

Damaging someone isn't the baseline to be stronger....considering he only damaged him with Wendy's help. Lightning doesn't have intangibility and lightning doesn't cancel an Ash logia type.

has much more destructive power.
Doesn't matter since BSS has way more fire power than Skullion yet he was still able to dodge a lot of her attacks.

Evidence: Reread Natsu Vs Max, Gajeel Vs Rogue, LFD & ISD Vs Tempester & Torafuzar before Torafuzar plunged them underwater.
How's any of this evidence.

Giant Gajeel isn't a form considering he'll never use it again lol. And neither is the first one. Multi-flame isn't a thing.....that's just his DF. Natsu's DF let's him beat characters like Aldoron and FH Zeref. If you think that's relative to Gajeel then watch your "cap" whatever tf that means.

Gajeel is legit fodder to Natsu.

Well I agree for all statements on Skullion's subject. Nothing else to say.

For the another one, yes "Giant Gajeel" must be removed (not a form like Ramen said) and "Full Powered" Gajeel as well. "Multi Flames" is an enhance version of Current Dragon Force since he ate Ignia's Flame. He could use it and mix it with his other Dragon's Flames to a new move. As residual still remains like Igneel's power in Arbaless after his use, Natsu should continue to use it, but perhaps at a less degree (only assumption). So we can tell that it is his current Dragon Force. Gajeel can't willing Dragon Force. Below that, FDK Natsu is still stronger than Gajeel. If you disagree, Natsu has still average on stamina and durability.

So, like Ramen said, Gajeel is legit fodder to Natsu (Dragon Force). Without this climax power, Natsu is still above but with high diff. I still see Gajeel's threshold to Natsu's LFD, which is still a very high level.

Multi -flame he's probably referring to the statement where it's Atlas Flame, Igneel, and Ignia's flames but Natsu said it was his fire.

Also yea, Gajeel can't willingly use DF.

Yes I understood this. But this power is not a Mode, more a "Ougi" as it was a lethal one shot. Same as his FDK punch used on FH Zeref. It's not a constant strength but a climax emotional strength.

Perhaps it was a one shot move like Igneel's original strength and then Natsu remained to use a residual strength of it by his own. But it's still a Natsu's enhance level up. For me, his ultimate strength is still "Dragon Force".

Difference is that Natsu has done that multiple times. He's shown that sort of strength multiple times and it is considered a form of his. Gajeel is not the same.

August is the strongest member of the Spriggan 12. Irene is the second strongest member of the Spriggan 12. The portrayal was obvious, and the magic power statements of August and Irene, they're in the same league in power.
August > Irene because August low-diffed Jellal + CS and Gildarts + Cana in different battles. Irene impressed Acnologia, but she underperformed against Erza and Wendy. Substitute Erza and Wendy from Gildarts and Cana against August, they ain't doing anything to August. Gildarts is a level above Erza through portrayal and feats.
Natsu and Gajeel were stated by to be equal and rival-like characters by Hiro Mashima himself.

In the 100YQ, the power tiers goes like this:
  1. DF Natsu
  2. Gildarts
  3. FDK Natsu/RL Laxus/Dual Swords Erza/Jellal/FP Gajeel
  4. Belserion Erza/Base Laxus/LFD Natsu/ISD Gajeel
  5. BSS Mira
  6. DeS Gray/Strong Armor Erza
  7. Snake Lucy
  8. Irene Form Wendy/Base Natsu/Base Gajeel/Elfman/Casual Armor Erza
  9. Mixed Star Dress Lucy
  10. Base Gray
Damaging someone isn't the baseline to be stronger....considering he only damaged him with Wendy's help. Lightning doesn't have intangibility and lightning doesn't cancel an Ash logia type.
Wendy canceled out Skullion's intangibility, she never damaged him. Natsu did, he rushed in, and punch him, leaving visible damage, something Gray couldn't do.
Natsu in LFD can do what Base Laxus can do, stated in Tenrou. Laxus can turn into lightning, LFD has Laxus's power, abilities, elemental properties.
Base Skullion > Base Natsu with shown feats, but Base Natsu ain't a pushover like Gray was. DF Wendy and Base Natsu outperformed Devil Slayer Gray in their Skullion battles. Natsu damaged him, Gray did not.
Doesn't matter since BSS has way more fire power than Skullion yet he was still able to dodge a lot of her attacks.
End result between Skullion and Mirajane was a tie, she was able to damage him afterwards. LFD > BSS in destructive power and feats.

Just like Flames of Emotions PoF Natsu and Seven Dragons Natsu against Zeref and Acnologia respectively. One time power-ups are still rankable in power. Natsu used Atlas Flame, Igneel, and Ignia's flame boosted in his Dragon Force form against Aldoron, it wasn't base DF, stop the cap. Gajeel gave Natsu a high-diff fight, Ion see where the "fodder" thing came from, when Natsu wanted a rematch against him and saw him a serious battle/challenge to the point where they was both low on magic power at the finale in their battle.
Along with Hiro stating Natsu and Gajeel are rivals and equals in power, stop the "fodder" cap. Remove your bias against Gajeel and read the feats, Gajeel and Natsu are near equals in the 100YQ.

Here is Natsu getting pumped up to face the top tiers in BoFT2:

Here is Natsu stating he was serious against Natsu:

Here is the aftermath of Natsu Vs Gajeel II, both of them low on magic:

Just in case you're still denying Natsu didn't use his full power against Gajeel, here's Natsu saying and doing things when he's serious:

He used FDK when he's serious (ignore the Wraith's past panel).
Stop the cap with Gajeel being "fodder" to Natsu.

Multi-Flame DF Natsu widens the gap (that form is Dragon God level), any prior forms (FDK, LFD, Base) displays they're near equals.
Multi-Flame DF Natsu would also make Jellal, Laxus, Erza, Mira, Gray, even Gildarts fodder along with Gajeel.

What is this MultiFlame DF Natsu. Natsu has no form like this. He used a move called Purgatory Fire against Aldoron which were his flames. There isn't something called MultiFlame DF. DF is DF that's all. Otherwise might well as a form for FDK DF

  7. Snake Lucy
  8. Irene Form Wendy/Base Natsu/Base Gajeel/Elfman/Casual Armor Erza
  9. Mixed Star Dress Lucy
  10. Base Gray
Erza only used the dual sword once on RL Laxus to cut his chest after that she was using a regular sword and even before using the Dual swords she still cut Laxus arm. Did you read the fight? RL Laxus and Belserion Erza is on the same level. With Laxus having a slight edge on Stamina.

It was one punch. It was irrelevant as they didn't have a formal battle. Trying to argue that Base Natsu > DeS Gray because one-punch did more damage is silly considering the circumstances. Also, that punch did no real damage as Skullion laughed at it.

Laxus doesn't have intangibility like a logia either and even if he did, Natsu has never shown to use it or lightning magic in general.

End result between Skullion and Mirajane was a tie, she was able to damage him afterwards. LFD > BSS in destructive power and feats.
What feats? LFD's best feats come before the first time-skip. It was a tie but Skullion > LFD Natsu anyways so it does not matter.

To display the power increase from base form to dual forms. It's massive.
But I don't see the relevance. Skullion would smash Base Natsu anyways.

Just like Flames of Emotions PoF Natsu and Seven Dragons Natsu against Zeref and Acnologia respectively. One time power-ups are still rankable in power. Ok first of all, no, one-time power-ups are not quantifiable. Second of all, Natsu did not use any of their powers as he admits that it's his own power.

So please show me where any of those dragons boosted him? It makes no sense as to how they could anyways. Dude, Natsu went on to fight 4 more fights and Gajeel couldn't even stand and Natsu used a low-tier power-up. In what world is that equal?

Where is all this, "Natsu is itching for a rematch" stuff coming from? Yes, anyone with a basic level of reading comprehension can clearly see that he refers to them in base power. Read the feats? Ok, let's list them:

Natsu:
  1. Beats Gajeel up to the point where Gajeel couldn't stand and Levy had to step in.
  2. Went on to fight Wraith and Makarov
  3. Tanked attack after attack from GS Aldoron even when Natsu had a near death experience.
  4. Matched his power when he was slightly weakened.
  5. Used his own power (as I've shown above) to literally blow up Aldoron.
Gajeel:
  1. Struggled against Metro.
  2. Was turned giant by Brandish and didn't do any real damage against Aldoron.
  3. Was killed 3 minutes in.
That's your definition of equal?
Multi-Flame DF Natsu widens the gap (that form is Dragon God level), any prior forms (FDK, LFD, Base) displays they're near equals.
Multi-Flame DF Natsu would also make Jellal, Laxus, Erza, Mira, Gray, even Gildarts fodder along with Gajeel.
This is you trying to play words-roulette as there is no such thing as "Multi-flame DF." Here's how you lose any credibility with your rankings, FDK is not FP Natsu yet you put FDK Natsu and FP Gajeel as equals. FP Natsu is Natsu using his DF to beat people like FH Zeref and Aldoron levels and Gajeel can't contend with that. You also haven't argued against the fact that Gajeel can't use his full power and potential on his own but Natsu can.

Gajeel is nowhere near Natsu, get over it.

err, only person who can move 180lbs must also weigh 180 lbs or more. to move something heavier than your self, you need friction to hold your self. in other words you can brenchpress more than your weight, resistance is being provided by the bench. but you cant push or pull something that weighs more than you, provided friction is constant for both.

only reason erza attack didnt do anything to him was because she isnt a ds. aconologia wasnt gonna tank that attack if it was ds (medium damage, i guess).

i cant say that. because scenario was different. technically air wouldnt provide any friction, so if we are talking purely physics, unless aconolgia had time to produce enough momentum, only then, he would over power erza attack. it hard for me to imagine a flying bird, resisting anything, without flapping alot.

but somehow, lets say magic can be used to maintain one position. where would aconolgia exactly exert. the attack didnt originate from the same place where erza stood. he basically will get hit in the back and crash to ground, while exerting forward. mindless aconologia will have same reaction speed as normal one. so i dont see anything else possible here.

unless you are saying aconolgia attack hits erza attack.
well you already know my thought there.
stronger attacks wins. a weaker mage cant overpower stronger mage top tier attack. so unless aconologia isnt really trying, he will easily over power erza attack
This simply isn't true. Objects with smaller masses can move things with larger mass, and it happens all the time. Just get 2 coins of difference masses. Put both of them on your desk, and flick the smaller one at the larger one with your finger. See what happens. Better yet, get someone who is smaller than you to push you with all their strength, and see if you can stand still while being completely relaxed.

Friction has absolutely nothing to do with how much someone can bench, and what you're talking about isn't even friction. Bench press is designed to isolate your arms and chest. You are pushing up against gravity with your arms. You can actually lift far more by standing up and engaging your legs and core. That's why you can deadlift more than you bench. You can bench and deadlift more than your body weight. It is also far easier to push or pull an object along the ground than it is to lift it. Friction is negligible compared to gravity for pretty much any object weighing over a pound.

When you strike an object, both you and the object experience the same amount of force. And generally speaking, you both move. With good form, you can leverage the force you receive back into the ground. That's what most fighters do. If you hang a 250 pound heavybag on a rope and strike it, chances are it will move if you are north of 150lbs. Here's Joe Rogan slamming a standard 250lbs heavybag. He's never weighed more than 205, and is probably in much better shape in the video than he is now.

Anyways, Acnologia wasn't braced against anything because he was flying. Now, yes....You can argue argue that the lift generated by his flight carries with it a certain amount of force, and Erza overcame that force. In fact, I would argue that Acnologia in a charge generates enough speed to offset any amount of leverage he can get from the ground. But again, Acnologia wasn't in the middle of an attack at that moment. He was just mindlessly flying around. Unless you're arguing that Acnologia at the moment Erza's attack smacked him was exerting as much force as when he shredded Igneel, then Erza simply wasn't overpowering Acnologia at full strength.

Erza's attack wouldn't have been able to scratch Acnologia even if it had been enchanted with dragon slaying magic. Remember, Acnologia is still resistant to magic, including that of Dragon Slaying Magic. We've even seen Acnologia shrug off dragon slaying magic on the level of Igneel's roar without receiving a scratch. So even if Erza's attack was as strong as Igneel's roar, which I doubt, it would still be shrugged off by Acno.
Sure, the swords might be able to deliver enough force upon to push Acnologia to the ground. That's not really more impressive than Christina airship or Jellal pushing against Acnologia. Again, you don't have to be stronger than Acnologia to move him. You just have to be able to move an object of Acnologia's mass. We've actually seen that dragons on Acnologia's level can have varying masses, and this obviously affects how easy it is for people to move them. When Erza spams her swords against a larger dragon, like Mercphobia, it barely does anything. This time, she not only has a dragon slaying enchantment, but the collective help of everyone else on team Natsu.
This is only taken to the extremes with Aldoron, where Laxus and Erza exhausted all their power fighting on Aldoron's back, and their attacks don't even register to Aldoron's sheer mass. Aldoron actually had less MP than Acnologia because his seeds were getting destroyed. Anyways, this time in particular, Laxus vaporized most of Erza's sword with red lightning. Stands to reason if Acnologia was actually facing off against Erza's sword spam and charged in with an attack, he would simply shatter Erza's swords much like he did to Igneel's body.

Imagine if Acnologia fully committed to a charging Erza with the intent to shred her body like he did with Igneel. If you think Erza's sword spam can stop him in his tracks and knock him down, then that would make Erza flat out stronger than Acnologia and the god dragons. If not, then that means Erza isn't overpowering regular Acnologia's max strength. This means even if ROT Acnologia's max strength is stronger than regular Acnologia's max strength, the difference is irrelevant. The only way pushing ROT Acno is significantly more impressive than pushing regular Acnologia is if Acnologia is using the ROT's magic to exert a level of strength beyond what he is normally capable of. You would have to be arguing that Acnologia was exerting as much strength flying around as he was when he ripped Igneel apart, and that Erza's attack is stronger than ripping Igneel apart.

Erza only used the dual sword once on RL Laxus to cut his chest after that she was using a regular sword and even before using the Dual swords she still cut Laxus arm. Did you read the fight? RL Laxus and Belserion Erza is on the same level.
Well, I saw the same but apparently Laxus is as strong as her in his Base : but in the Manga, when Laxus saw her using "Belserion", he himself said that "if she is serious, small attacks won't work". His smalls attacks are analogy to his classic mode. That's mean Belserion is above his Base without even fight. Laxus is himself aware of it. Even without Dual Elemental Blades (one strike used), she matched his RL which seemed to be a great enhancement to his Lightning Magic. They are equals. For me, Jellal is around his Base so, in the list I should replace Belserion Erza and Jellal.

What is this MultiFlame DF Natsu. Natsu has no form like this. He used a move called Purgatory Fire against Aldoron which were his flames. There isn't something called MultiFlame DF. DF is DF that's all. Otherwise might well as a form for FDK DF
There isn't anything of the sort. This is just him/her making up stuff.

Those rankings contradict each other and are easily debunkable anyways.

What is this MultiFlame DF Natsu. Natsu has no form like this. He used a move called Purgatory Fire against Aldoron which were his flames. There isn't something called MultiFlame DF. DF is DF that's all. Otherwise might well as a form for FDK DF
The form was collective boost of fire from multiple fire dragons whose flames Natsu previously consumed combined and applied onto his dragon force to oneshot Aldoron. It wasn't like his DF vs Mard Geer or Zeref, it was Dragon God level variant. There's no official name on the form. The name varies.
She exhausted out her enchanted full power and she had no other techniques regardless:

Laxus's statement about Erza's techniques concurs that Erza was using Belserion, Natsu and Gray's power anyway
It was one punch. It was irrelevant as they didn't have a formal battle. Trying to argue that Base Natsu > DeS Gray because one-punch did more damage is silly considering the circumstances. Also, that punch did no real damage as Skullion laughed at it.
Gray never inflicted any damage on Skullion, yet Natsu did. Skullion shrugged away Gray's Zeroth Sword then ashed him away in one spell. Skullion was shown with no visible damage against Gray. He was shown later damaged by Base Natsu and BBS Mira in other battles.
There's no "circumstances":

No damage in Gray's battle. Skullion basically called Gray a "clown" trying to fight him.

Base Natsu damaged him after DF Wendy canceled out Skullion's intangibility, then Skullion remained on the defensive, he made no progress trying to beat them since.
Laxus doesn't have intangibility like a logia either and even if he did, Natsu has never shown to use it or lightning magic in general.
He turned into lightning multiple times fighting Hades, Jura, and Tempester. LFD Natsu can use Laxus's lightning element and properties the way the user could similar as to when Gajeel used Rogue's shadow abilites in ISD.
What feats? LFD's best feats come before the first time-skip. It was a tie but Skullion > LFD Natsu anyways so it does not matter.
LFD ragdolled Etherious Tempester whereas Natsu's base was in a stalemate against Base Tempester.
Replace Base Natsu's punch on Skullion with an LFD Natsu attack and there lies a significant difference.
You're only overrating Skullion because he stomped Gray.
But I don't see the relevance. Skullion would smash Base Natsu anyways.
No indication of that whatsoever. Base Skullion > Base Natsu, yes, but it's not a low-diff scenario.

From my previous picture, Natsu wanted to fight Mira, Jellal, Laxus (rematch), and Gajeel (rematch).
The second Gajeel stood up again, Levy showed up. Natsu regained his MP/base power when recovered as a thought projection. He was fresh fighting Makarov and Wraith + he encountered Wendy prior to facing Aldoron.
Everyone had trouble against Metro including Mira and Gray. Gajeel and the rest of FT were still weakened after the white mage's control was released. Evidence: Laxus and Erza were still out of power when Gears appeared. Gajeel was severely handicapped against Aldoron.
Mashima's statement about Natsu and Gajeel being equal was during the exposition/transition from the Aldoron Arc.
