Shaman King and its perpetually assblasted author says hi
Shaman king had anime, remember. And the manga was only canceled by the author's choice.
He came back to finish the manga later.

No, the author of Shaman King said his manga was canceled.

Although he admit that he was already tired of Shaman King at that time.

did you even read it?

it got axed in the middle of the arc without any conclusion

he tried to fix it in Jump Live or Jump X or whatever it was called, not in WSJ

he's so butthurt about it he took all his work rights and immigrated to Kodansha

But either way the manga had anime and still returned to have a conclusion. And there were even spin offs.

>moving the goal post
you said they don't cancel high seller
they do

now what?
It just shows that the WSJ was not correct in canceling the shaman king.

This only strengthens the affirmation that sales matter.

Shaman King franchise was dying. Just like Toriko's franchise was basically dying, so it got canned. Just like Beelzebub or literally just like any series that runs long enough way past it's prime getting canned.
There was also obvious drama between the mangaka and WSJ, in Shaman King's case.

WSJ canceling dying franchises =/= them canceling a growing new franchise.
How are some of you in this thread for years and still providing such one dimensional arguments?

No, WSJ does not prioritize ranks over sales when surveys are quite literally samples of the market (you know, what surveys always are). The ONLY example we've ever had where that was the case in the past decade was Hinomaru Zumo.
If you keep using super rare one off examples for your narrative, you're literally strengthening the arguments you're countering.

Jesus Fucking Christ.

Looking forward to when we have a regular mod back because this thread has gone especially chaotic and repetitive this past week.

This is the problem when you attach yourself to a new WSJ series that performs poorly in the rankings. You can make all the arguments you want about how it should turn out but the simple fact is unless a series is an established franchise (that isn't in decline) or is nearing its completion there is no guarantee that any manga in WSJ is safe, especially with the revolving door approach it has to new series coming and going every couple of months.

Latching onto a series that admittedly had good sales but performed poorly every week in the TOC for 20 or so weeks and then being shocked when it ends after never rising in the ranks is a recipe for disappointment. It's good practice that if you really enjoy a new series not to place all your bets and hopes on it succeeding until it is actually looking safe because statistically it will probably be a failure. If trends show it placed in a decent spot in the table of contents then that's as good a gauge of its near-future safety that you're going to get.

I know I'm not letting myself have any hopes for Nine Dragons even if I think it is the best of the latest batch because I can already see how the worst case scenario could easily play out.

Hey guys jsyk all of this big news may be an early april fools joke. So I wouldn’t believe anything today or tomorrow until legitimate pics from the magazine come out.

If it is about mha, it all started from official site stating later date

No the new batch coming up and the jump plus game. I wish I could say the same for phantom seer’s cancelation.

Phantom Seer is now another example
In the future if a new series has good-ish sales but low ToC, we can point to PS to prove it isn't safe

The new batch was announced by the same TOC leak that included the confirmation for Phantom Seer's ending (which was posted before April 1st btw), so it's impossible for only one of them to be real
