Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

  • For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
  • Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
  • Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
  • We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

  1. Shanks v Mihawk
  2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
  3. Zoro > Luffy
  4. Zoro v Sanji
  5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
  6. Mihawk's rank within the story
  7. Law having CoC currently.
  8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

Let's talk about the juicy stuff, yes I want to hear your opinion on this @Rd8901 also you @Best Generation this one is too good

So Vergo was just playing with Sanji. Proof?

Here you see Vergo seemingly going to attack with his left leg

Problem is he attacks with his right leg (foot). Like I didn't notice this at first but here you can see the angling of the stationary leg, the hanging robe where there is supposed to be a right leg lol, just look at the shape of the foot which shows the inside of the foot facing up. This stance only makes sense by it being the right leg. You can clearly see this is the right leg (ankle) clashing lol

This means Vergo SWITCHED LEGS ON PURPOSE LOL

Sanji is using his strongest part of the leg for defence. Consider Sanji also would've used armament haki for defence, while Vergo is using his ankle. Guess who breaks

But next panel we see him doing this fancy but still unorthodox leg swipe but with the left leg. Means he switched legs yet again :giggle::giggle::whistle:

Meaning Vergo was never ever serious. He was actually legit toying with Sanji This was all troll from Vergo, and this is hella fun to watch.

I dont know whats more fun, the leg switching ankle kick or the leg switching leg swipe (the leg swipe shows flowing haki in the kick btw, actual ryou which I highlighted)

This is why I say only internal haki makes sense, otherwise Vergo's physical strength is far superior to BM who clashed with Sanji in WCI, while Vergo broke his leg with his ankle doing a leg switch looking seemingly bored doing it lol

Yet you think Vergo is irrelevant lol what a mistake

You have read it wrong. Vergo never switches legs. He only uses his left leg in that exchange. You see what you want to see, that's all.

If you don't believe me, show this to some of your friends and ask their opinion on the panels.

And finally, how did Vergo die to Law if he is Yonko level? A stronger Law can't do shit to Kaido and BM.

Being that you have such a hard time spatially visualising it, here is my friend showing you how the kick was performed

This is how he kicks but with an angle to the stationary left leg

like this

Still my girl is very flexible enough to do this with a straight posture. She is actually a cheerleader that has competed professionally

and Law didn’t do shambles on Vergo either. He never did so what gives? Should he give up more decades of his life? He already lost life in Dressrosa keeping up the room, yet Vergo required an island sized slash. Man your Law is dying if he keeps doing mega room shit over and over again. He will die prematurely thanks to Vergo lol, that’s why he doesn’t use it on BM and Crydo. Law is a dead man lol

the thing is, i don't think the marine+warlods vs WB was an equal fight. I think it was a vastly one sided fight that even with unexcepted backup the WB pirates got competely slaughtered. Like you don't want an equal fight you want to fight 10k troops vs 5k troops. So yes WB was powerful enough the WG wanted to amass the biggest possible army to gurantee victory. Which they achieved. They had more or less 0 revelent casulties on there side. If it was an actual even fight it would make sense narratively for the WB prites to take down an admiral or two. But they failed to even take out a single admiral. But in the process they lose there most powerful piece and fail to capture ace back. It took another emperor of the sea to cause the marines to not want to fight. And yes i could see wb+shanks equalt to the WG forces or to bring doubt in compete victory. But given this information i'm not sure if the admirals are that much below the yonko at all.

also narratively it makes sense the WG are scared of two yonko's working together because they're pretty certain they could defeat a single yonko which they proved. But 2 at the same time well...

Being that you have such a hard time spatially visualising it, here is my friend showing you how the kick was performed
I have no problem visualising it because I can see his right leg planted on the floor.
Secondly, Sanji makes no comments about it. Narrator doesn't make any comments.
Third, Sanji was able to make Vergo bleed with one kick. But Yonko level characters would brush that attack off as seen by recent events in the manga.

So what you are saying is that Law is capable of slicing Kaido and BM if he is willing to sacrifice his life?
Law was able to slice Vergo into 2 halves in one hit, but Law couldn't do that to Joker who should be 10x weaker than Vergo according to you. Law clearly hates Joker more than Vergo, so why is this?

Also, does it state in the manga that Law used a bigger room for Vergo and damaged his life force? From what I remember, he only used that in Dressrossa to fool Joker and Trebol. The size of room doesn't affect his power.

You seem to have obvious spatial problems, that's why I asked a friend to show it to you lmao.

You cant stand like that with the left leg raised like thaty. The leg on the ground is tilting to his left side yet you say he is using his left leg. its physically impossible dude

This is what you're suggesting he does lmao

Sanji's face says as much btw and he was saying he was gonna lose.

But Yonko level characters would brush that attack off as seen by recent events in the manga
Why are you hung up on this? DJ is internal damage, Vergo was bleeding from internal fire channeled to his head, not the AP of DJ. Sanji could not do meaningful damage to Vergo. We have yet to see DJ being tanked by real opponents (DD used barrier haki). BM or Kaido would take internal damage from DJ

Applying real world logic cool. Then show me someone in real life using using three sword's to fight, with the third sword in their mouth. Or someone who fights with their leg on fire.

BM or Kaido would take internal damage from DJ
No they wouldn't. Read the manga. Sanji already kicked BM with DJ and Oda said that BM took no damage from it in an SBS.
Forget about Yonko's, Joker took no damage from DJ while Vergo did. Haki is part of their strength! The same haki cut through by Law lol. Joker thought Vergo had strong enough haki to stop Law but he was wrong ofc as seen by Vergo being sliced up to bits.

You seem to have obvious spatial problems
Says the guy who seems to be the only one continuing with this farce with no support. Has one panel with misconceptions as your facts.

If Vergo was strong as you say he was, Luffy would have noticed it. He has the ability to see how strong someone is (example Inurashi in Zou).

Finally, let's say Vergo is Yonko level to u. Then everyone else is miles ahead of Vergo and they need a new title that's above Yonko level haha!

So you're the one with spatial issues, believing this matches Vergos stance.

If you believe this you are a joke

I'm not saying Vergo is as durable as BM, but if she took the same enraged DJ to the face she'd take damage. Less than Vergo but it didnt even hurt Vergo much to begin with

Doffy used barrier haki while Vergo chose to tank it raw. Doffy didnt want to

If Vergo was strong as you say he was, Luffy would have noticed it. He has the ability to see how strong someone is (example Inurashi in Zou).
They were talking about Doffy in the same chapter, the focus wasn't Vergo

Sanji noticed it though

Just how badly did Sanji consider King's strength when he ignored him during their entire clash

thats the difference

Point is there are other numerous examples, like Tashigi mentioning it

Caesar and DD highlighting his haki, Law was definitely afraid of Vergo and considered him a huge threat that arc. You willfully ignore that

Law is gonna die because he had to mass expend life span on his slash against Vergo. Or do you know Law lost life in Dressrosa, so he imagine how much lifespan he lost against Vergo. Man it sucks knowing Law will die because of Vergo

difference between a pussboi and a real warrior

If you believe this you are a joke
Yes this is exactly what Vergo is doing. Thanks for finding a pic to prove my point.
Whether I am a joke or not, I don't need you to be the one to judge me, thanks.

Doffy used barrier haki while Vergo chose to tank it raw. Doffy didnt want to
Used armament like any strong character. Sanji was more enraged at Joker because his crew was in danger.

Law was definitely afraid of Vergo and considered him a huge threat that arc. You willfully ignore that
No I won't. I remember Law's heart being held hostage by Vergo. Needing cheap tricks to win against Law. After getting his heart back, Law OHKO Vergo lol! Who is ignoring who?
Law is gonna die because he had to mass expend life span on his slash against Vergo.
Not stated in the manga! His room didn't cover the entire island btw.
difference between a pussboi and a real warrior
Pussboi is still alive after slicing "real warrior" into little chunks casually! Law is well above your so called 'Yonko' level.

P.s I just read the chapter again. I will come back with screenshots later and talk through the fight frame by frame. Give me some time, busy right now

Wow, that's one of the worst discussions I have seen on this forum

Vergo is standing on his right leg, you are looking at his butt (there's a zipper on the front)

Here's the same scene in the anime:

Ok here goes nothing: @Critical mindset

As you can see, starting from the right hand panel, they are both exchanging kicks, but Sanji sends him flying.
Vergo used armament to block Sanji but still got blown away. Unlike Joker.
You can see Vergo's right leg on the ground. Also like Fox666 pointed out, you can see Vergo's butt.
Sanji gets a fracture, he push away the leg.
The left leg Sanji deflected away comes back to take his head off. Sanji dodges and Vergo attacks with his right this time (can see his front upper body).
Also, @Fox666 pointed out the anime as well. Thanks for that btw!

I like Vergo, wish we saw more from him or from other VAs like Momonga or Onigumo, because Maynard was straight trash, he shouldve been a Rear Admiral.
But I dont believe Vergo was anywhere near Yonko level not even YC level. He would lose to Cracker and Jack.

But I clearly ignore Critical, I think this argument is old, stupid, and repetitive. Seriously, you are guys are arguing about kicks. Cmon, has this thread really gone down to discussing how a cheerleader kicks

The marines might have considered fighting if black beard crew wasn’t there but I doubt it tbh
Just garp and sengoku were containing those pirates
If they seriously came down to fight the WB pirates it’d have been even more one sided

the Blackbeard pirates fleed away from just akainu even with Blackbeard having the gura gura no mi

This entire Vergo shit is hilarious
Law is much stronger than him
Doffy was much stronger than that law , granted law was crazy exhausted running away from him and the admiral then had gotten shot and all

also sanji was faster than vergo , he could land hits on him but couldn’t hit harder
Sanji used a one leg doable Jambe but he didn’t use 2 legs or go all out with hells memories
It was a brief start
Sanji recognized vergo as tough and poweful but to say he knew he was gonna lose is a stretch we’ve seen how many of these fights turn out

is hells memories sanji ever gonna return ?

It wasnt equal at all, the Marines planned it well, they were in home territory, had overwhelming elite force, made the pirates betray each other, had Ace held hostage, and finally by the luck of draw WB was ill. Also they called the Warlords

But it shows how much the Marines fear one single Yonko crew to have to amass all the strength to combat one Yonko.

Then comes Shanks and puts and end to the whole war, the Marines, Warlords, and BB Pirates didnt want to fight the Red Haired Pirates. That obviously shows much threat a single Yonko crew poses. But no people still think Akainu > Shanks LOL.

The BBP ran away from Akainu because they knew they would take heavy casualties even though they would eventually win and defeat Akainu, but it would be a huge disavantage and decided to run instead.

I seriously believe 4 Yonko crews > WG/MF HQ/3 Admirals + Warlords

I mean yeah the 4 yonkou crews are more poweful than the marines and WG in totality
But the crews are not United they’re in opposition and in a stalemate
The marines are more poweful than one crew but with shanks intervention just because they had a chance to win or even a possibility doesn’t mean they should have taken it , the marines nor Blackbeard crew had much to gain by engaging in such a costly battle

people always forget that sengoku and garp actually didn’t step in to fight against WB crew and those 2 were able to contain BB and his entire crew , if they got involved it would have gotten very ugly fast for WB pirates even with their impel down reinforcements

Garp & Sengoku are old just like WB. Their Prime Eras has passed. They are old guards not suited for the position. As was WB.

Yonkou are individual Great Priates with opposing ideologies & interest.

Only Kaidou & BM have some sort of relationship that is mendable to form an alliance.

Which they did....reading the context of one piece world....Because the WG abolished Warlord System & something bad happened at the Revire. So 2 of the Yonkou’s under their given circumstances have teamed up.

WG kinda owned WBP with the whole Frozen lake, Melted Lake, Wall raise & Pacifista bombardment.

Most of all WB imo was a bad strategist & commander. Oz JR folly played its course but could have helped much more, Squardo betryal, WB health leaving him not leading as he should have....

instead of relying or gambling on Luffy who have them moral as an ant kept on getting further than the big shots...lol

He’s not a bad strategist , he just had limited options and again his crew was significantly outnatched

Everyone has their own viewpoint of how they see the characters. I know Critical has been going over this for a while, but nobody really discussed back with how he interpreted the panels wrong.
Most only kept saying "Vergo isn't Yonko level. U are an idiot" etc

I went over the points:
1. His right foot was planted on the ground
2. Sanji broke through his Armament haki, the same Sanji couldn't do that to Joker
3. Vergo only used his right leg on the last panel.

I didn't see anybody pointing that out, so I took the liberty at doing that. Sorry if that was cheerleader kicks to you.

Don't bother too much. People, myself included, used to answer his points on this same topic. He's brought up the same Vergo vs Sanji nonsense time and time again with the exact same points for years now. He won't budge from there, no matter what you tell him, and he'll just throw insults at you for not agreeing on Vergo's posture.

At least, he's entertaining for a short while when he brings up new stuff like "Vergo is more durable than Big Mom" or "Vergo has stronger armament haki than Kaido".

Franky, I'm not sure where your delusions begin and end, but the "guy" who called insulted you ALSO had his comment deleted. Please don't scream injustice if you aren't fully aware of what is happening or has happened.

I'm going to either edit your posts or delete them going forward if you keep trolling this topic. There's no argument to be made against the fact that he is indeed using his left leg, both the manga and anime show this.

Simply refer the page 16-17 of chapter 681 or episode 607 in the anime.
