Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

1. Shanks v Mihawk
2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
3. Zoro > Luffy
4. Zoro v Sanji
5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
6. Mihawk's rank within the story
7. Law having CoC currently.
8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

I rank the VAs pretty high, but I mean the MF HQ VAs not Smoker or Maynard, they are junior VAs and are weaker than the veteran VAs. As we've seen how Vergo > Smoker and how weak Maynard was.
The VAs could tie with the Flying 6 or Oven/Daifuku/ maybe Perospero. I wish Oda showed more of the VAs in a more competent role in the NW.
At the beginning of the Timeskip I saw G2 Luffy and Zolo above the veteran VAs with difficulty and Sanji right below as we saw how he fared versus Vergo. Now Sanji is above the veteran VAs.

Jozu is not YC3 he is YC2. People think he is weaker than Doffy because DD was able to trap him with the strings but I dont think thats the case. I see Jozu as being the strongest YC2. Oda shouldve shown more of him Post TS.

Also Post TS Lucci should be around veteran VA level or higher.

Dudes like Maynard then somewhat strong dudes like smoker then we have potential monsters like Gion(Moumosagi) and Chaton(tokikake) who were admiral candidates

So i remembered reading about how the giant Squad were VAs but that is confusing. I doubt MF Luffy was VA level even at his finest at that time. So how did Gear 3 Luffy Pre TS defeat a "VA" Giant, yet quickly lose to VA Momonga? Luffy was maybe Rear Admiral level at that point. So I have my doubts that that one Marine Giant Luffy one shotted was at VA level.

I dont think Maynard shouldve been a VA but rather a RA. Oda could have shown us an actual battle between Post TS Luffy and a VA.

I think タフ (tafu) means tough in the sense of being mentally tough, masculine, etc.

Your not. All giants are listed under Vice Admirals on Wikia Page.

Thanks for the info. Just fact check it, as I came back. Only 2 Giants are listed as VA so far.

I don't think anyone in this picture is necessarily a Vice Admiral, it also includes Kandre, who hasn't said to be one either, and Daigin who is a Commodore.

John Giant, Lacroix and Lons are Vice Admirals (from right to left), as well as Cancer (front, left).

Tbf it was quite obvious that every rooftop fighter was stronger than Hawkins
Both law and Zoro kinda handled him comfortably

So I'm going to be that guy. I don't think Hawkins lost because he was weaker than Killer.

As we've seen plenty in this arc, the Supernova can easily take one another out with one shot if they get a good hit it. Killer himself was victim of this.

Aside from screwing around too long despite having an significant advantage, he left his fighting to his cards. After he got his arm chopped off, he was clearly still in the game, so to speak and ready to continue fighting. Same after his Strawman got cut down. But instead of relying on himself, he turned to his fortune again rather than, you know, fight for himself.

There's no telling how things would go if Hawkins tried for himself or, hell, drew a card he actually wanted, IMO.

Oh for sure. Hawkins' physical game is definitely poor compared to Killer's. But it's fine because Hawkins is more like Law and uses his fruit to offset that issue. When he's good on dolls, he can basically afford to take any hits he'd like, similar to how Kaido fights basically.

Hawkins had the means, he just didn't have the guts to gamble on himself or push forward. He's too cautious and got too confident in his numbers/precognition. It's the concept Bege spoke of back in WCI. Seeing the future ain't special, since everyone has the potential to change their future.

Or basically what Killer said at the start of the fight. Fortune favors the bold.
