The mech says green only weapons can target others. I assume weapons are roles, and that would mean only townies can swap? Assuming allegiances can be flipped, then revealing a "mafia" is the same as self-destruction? Wondering also if the scum have different private rules with regards to swapping or if they can't at all..

Yes, weapons are roles / allegiances.
Reading the mechanic I don't get the impression they are more rules hidden, so I'm 99%.
Also rules do state that only greens can swap.

This is very confusing:
If A swaps with B
and C swaps with A

in the same night.
Who has what role?

Would host do a coin toss to figure out the order of execution?
Because depending on who goes first, it can lead to different results.

And imagine a more complicated scenario.

Trying to access if swaping is reliable enough as a source of information, for now I'm thinking it would be still better than nothing, since this complicated cases should be less frequent.

Say det investigate a person...being a higher priority than swapping....lot of players will get a pass or persecuted on results that aren't worth a damn in certain instances....lol like i said I'm just going to play regular...because this mechanic leaves sanity roles with their head up their asses xD

Okay so unless I'm too sleepy and tired, this mechanic looks sooo abusable. Like, we could ruin the game right now on N1. I'm sure if Hardy was here he'd have already made a plan that essentially flips the table.

Like, if we all make pairs of 2 that must swap their roles, everyone will swap, the "new" townies now know who should be a "new" mafia, and mafia loses.

Of course this means the unlucky townies would lose the game for this, however this sounds amazing for mafia because they will then become town and win LMAO.

I see Brandish calling it a "sacrifice", when the only ones sacrificing their win are townies that swap. Mafias swap into green victory, townies swap into something like 25%/75% red loss/green victory.
Ofc there's limitations like some uncooperative people(gnut) refusing to swap at all circumstances, but would at worst delay the game conclusion.

Though this is lame AF, and would waste our game of the month, so maybe the best bet is not abusing the mechanic and only having few people do the swap.
Which unfortunately renders a lot of the advantage moot, but I guess it can be fun shuffles for first few nights? The role-list is a work in progress, and we are tasked to complete it.

No problem there gnut. Just take the Det result of the guy the Det targetted and apply it to the guy who the target swapped with.

And if a Det swaps, can't they then openly D2 say "ok I was Det, to the guy I swapped with, X was guilty/innocent, so continue off from there!"? Without saying who they swapped with.

Though if 2 people must target each other there's like no way for this to happen accidentally and would need to be arranged openly at day to begin with.. Meh.

No, I wrote you above.

What you mention is only true if too many people die before we find out who they swapped with, so people should play more open with info like that this game.
Ideally we'd only have like 3-4 deaths that we are unclear who they swapped with, but that number can be smaller if people openly discuss who they will swap with, so we can anticipate it even in this case, so ideally we only won't know like 1-2 people's swap targets, if any.

Takes 2 to tango in this case greg, I don't see why both would lie if one is a town and one a mafia, or if both are town. And only 1 lying won't hold up or matter since there's a 2nd guy to challenge the lie. Swaps aren't accidental after all.

Because most here are too hardcore, they need to juggle several extra mechanics along with MG intricacies and role rules to even feel enjoyment. Like raising the basketball hoop higher because it's too low.
