Laxus and Ezra could be ten times stronger than Jellal and Gear would have been just as difficult for them because of his hax.

They would have beat Gears b4 they would've been affected by it. Gears only scale to other seeds and they weren't impressive stat wise either.

Which wouldnt be hard given their feats. Doom and Wolven had even stronger hax magic tho that didn't take prep time to activate. Stat wise, they all seem relative to each and all the seeds except Aldo's showed they had pretty weak stats.

The difference is Gears hax made it where his opponent couldn’t do anything that doesn’t seem to be the case for the other two but I’ll go back and double check

This is staus quo that never changes.Because Author decided like that.
In reality another situation. Natsu is much more stronger than anyone in the guild. Laxus was stronger than Jellal before and now he is also stronger because of getting power up. But later we will see they are equal again. Why? Because of rivalry on paper. All Mashima like
