In their last encounter Baam almost got killed 300x in last sstation and Gustang did shit.

A negotiation requires both parties to be equal, for Gustang Baam it clearly is not.

He did not differ from Maschenny, for example.

You see, him dealing with Gustang isn't bad, but Gus isn't the nice guy you're portraying.

So yeah, if Baam has a chance to get away without needing Gustang, he should fuck both FHs.

I never said Gustang is 'nice' - I said he's providing mutually-beneficial assistance to Baam and the ability to CHOOSE, which no one else has done (either) for Baam. Well, you could say FUG provided the former at least, just not the choice part.

Baam doesn't see Gustang as an enemy, in part because of how Gustang portrays himself to Baam.

That doesn't mean he has to wipe Baam's ass. He didn't during the Workshop games. He wants Baam to sink or swim on his own, and if he swims he continues to get Thorn PUs. This has happened no less than twice now. He watches Baam succeed - KNOWING he's supposedly the child of prophecy - and only involves himself if need be. Thorn helped Baam escape Zahard, and Baam had Thorn only due to Gustang. Gustang is now interviening because of Rei.

Gustang has brough Baam only profit, no lasting misfortune. And, he's allowed Baam the agency that you both keep talking about. Baam to fight his own battles (mostly, he can't here), Baam to choose, Baam to gain.

but...he is a Lo Po Bia...sorta their thing you know. no one could have guessed because normally a high ranker anima would have big ass mount they could ride around on. I hope all his tiny friends can come together and form Voltron or something.

Yuri didn't know that - the invite had already gone out via HJ at that point.

And this still doesn't address how she's not 'allowed' to steal Baam, that was never part of the deal. Nor how she'd likely have to fight a LPB in doing so.

And, instead of being an ass about it, Gustang took the time to explain to him why that's not feasible, and would actually HURT the residents, showing a sort of compassion for them actually, bugs that they are. Baam didn't dispute it, because it was sound logic.

Gustang doesn't HAVE to be mean if he can use his words. He's smart enough to know how to motivate Baam without being an arse, and it works.

We don't really know what Baam can or can't do. He has something in his kit with extremely powerful warping capabilities. For some reason he isn't using it.

If and when Baam wants to put on his big-boy pants and entirely restructure and take over FUG he can deal with her then.

I don't know why anyone pretends that she'll go away or not have good reason to keep running into Baam.
