I can't tell if you're ignorant or if you just like to troll

You try to speak words.

But they never mean what you think.

Why did you say "except immigration" if that's important to you as welL?

You have complained about a casting with someone else though.

You wouldn't want immigrants to be deported at one of the highest rates?
Ah, missed a word in my post.

So? It's still not relevant politically.

Deportations are just a part of the issue. I think it's more important to get visa programs going, severely punish companies that hire illegal immigrants and with that of course deport folk who stay in the country illegally. Along with the very standard punishment of people who do that get permanently banned from the country and along with losing the possibility of getting a visa or a residence.

Or immigrate to places founded by christians.
Everything you love about America comes from the secular culture of the country, not the Christian bullshit we're gradually outgrowing.

Unless you want the laws changed so that you can be stoned to death for working on the sabbath? Or so that you'll know how much you're able to sell your teenage daughter for?

Why not stay in the muslim country and enjoy the muslim life?

Do they not like their own religion?
Muslim immigrants don't move to America to get away from the Muslim lifestyle, they move to America to incorporate the things that make America great along WITH their Muslim lifestyle.

Which again: don't come from Christian theocracy. America thrives in spite of any shitty religion, not because of it.

This is something that should be seen as having caveats. If you bring in a not insane amount of immigrants then over time they'll assimilate. If you bring them by the millions then they will bring the third world with them. There's also the consideration of origin and culture.

There's also the issue of what immigration does to social services. If you have a small amount of immigrants then social services are fine. If you take them in by the millions then you can break them.

I wasn't defending unchecked immigration, I was correcting the claim that America being a Christian nation is what makes it a place desired by Muslims. Literally no one in the world is putting the idea of America being a Christian nation at the top of the list of reasons to move there. Least of all Muslims.

I also abhor the word "assimilate". It's both vague and pointed at the same time. It's point in that it's a way to say "If you're going to live here, you have to live the way we do" which: fuck that. And it's vague in the sense that we can't definitively say what it means to be American, so we don't know what to allow and what to reject when it comes to judging someone as a valid citizen that has assimilated properly.

Also, constitutionally it's your right as an American NOT to assimilate. Case in point: freedom of religion. No matter what the majority religion of America is, no one should have to worship the Christian God.

The full extent of any assimilation should just be "Follow the laws that the rest of us follow and other than that, be your authentic self."

In terms of views, it tends to be. More often than not, people who complain about those and use "woke" or "DEI hire" or racist dog whistles are often conservative and support the party, no matter how much damage it causes them.

What if those people immigrated for a better or safer life? Not fair to kick them out, especially if they've gotten settled down. Weird to sell the American dream and be so anti-immigration, legal or otherwise.

What is third world? When you say immigrants, where are you thinking of? Mexico, Middle East, Asia, or? Are you saying if millions of Europeans immigrate, they'll bring third world with them, even if they're from Switzerland and etc?

But also, it seems like USA doesn't get that many immigrants a year. Just seems like another blaming point for the conservatives to hate on and rally behind.

Social services can find a way to be more efficient, AND if companies and the wealthy paid their fair shares of taxes, then it wouldn't be hard for social services to handle a huge amount of immigrants.

I'll never really understand why for US folk saying third world is such a sensitive issue. We know our countries are shithole countries and we say it while crying far less than US folk.

Hmm, yeah, that makes no sense. There's at least some nutjobs with dreams of conquest though, several EU countries have had lunatics marching and protesting in favor of caliphates and other such unhinged nonsense but I don't think that fits into that specific narrative.

Hmm, I think the law is just short of the bare minimum. Peaceful coexistence in a given place is also the sum total of the things the people there agree to. Throw in a wrench and there's problems... Sure, don't force people to change religions but "when in rome do as the romans do" borders on common courtesy. It's definitely the approach I'd take if for some reason I were to ever leave my shithole third world country.

My nephew was baptized earlier this year in 2024.

Usually, I see 4 or 5 people baptized on a single day.

On the day of my nephew's baptism there were almost 50 people in line to be baptized.

Some say christianity and religion are growing.

Others say religion is on a decline.

It will be interesting to see which is accurate.

I see many "I am a new christian convert, give me advice" threads on reddit.

Well... kind of. But not at the rate that it's shrinking. The growth in the church after all isn't about theological belief, but political leaning. Recently Ex Muslim Atheist Ayan Hersi Ali now identifies as a Christian. Lots of apologists thought this was an awesome win for them... but that's only because they ignore the blogpost she made about why she became a Christian and stopped identifying as an Atheist.

You know why she became a Christian? Because she thinks the only thing that can beat "Wokeness" is Christianity. She identifies as Christian for political means, not because she believes in a god. And tons of people are doing the same thing. So you're not actually recruiting Christians. You're recruiting Christan Nationalists.

Others say religion is on a decline.
The "Nones", or "People who have no religion but don't necessarily idenitfy as Atheist" is the fastest growing group in America, theistically speaking.

It will be interesting to see which is accurate.

I see many "I am a new christian convert, give me advice" threads on reddit.
You know, that's funny. Because I watch theistic debates every week, and theistic interviews of atheists like Alex O'Connor and he's often asked the question by these Christian apologists: "why do you think so many people are leaving the church?" If the people on the phylosphical frontlines acknowledge that they're bleeding attendees, and there's so many of them mentioning it so often, I think I'm justified in taking their word for it, if only because it lines up with what the secular sources are saying as well, so there seems to be a consensus.

For the record, the answer for why the uptick in people leaving the church recently is ironically the same thing that's causing people to return to the church: politics. MAGA is scaring people away from Christianity. When the whole world is telling you it's okay to be your authentic self and religion is telling you you're an abomination deserving of death, or MAGA is claiming you're grooming children, it's easy to want avoid those people by not being in the same places they are: church. Some people look for progressive churches, sure. The majority just drop religiosity because socially they're rewarded for it.

Is it? I don't see it raising a ruckus that much, but on the other hand it's understandable given what is often implied by saying that. People from those countries calling it a third world country is different from people from other countries doing it.

The people getting upset over this are hardly ever the ones from third world countries. It's just randos getting offended for other people.

Is Harris aware that one of the main reasons why people wanted Biden to step down is because of his Zionism and defending Israel's evil actions while doing very little to help Palestinians? Does she remember how Andrew Yang fucked his own political career up playing both sides instead of supporting Palestine? Yeesh.

What? Biden stepped down because pretty much no one thought he was fit to be president and no one thought he'd beat trump. Biden's attitude towards israel was not even mentioned in that discussion.

Who are you talking to? I know it's not me because I never talked about why Biden stepped down, I mentioned why a lot of people on the left wanted him to step down.

And I said that's factually incorrect. Biden's Israel policy was completely irrelevant to him stepping down.
