Theory scramble after egg-head:
Races missing:
- Pirates are an actual race, they have a certain trait like everyone else, and it's probably their spirit/intimidation: pirates hunt loot, but they don't hurt bystanders. I think they're also terrible liars
- Bucaneers have the strong bodies and 3 bodies/souls into one, Kuma has 2 siblings, they were triplets, and the other 2 can be seen escaping in his flashback : one of them is probably Lucci, the other is a toss up between Blackbeard/Moria.
- The laughing face after saying a certain set of words is a curse by some sort of plant that merges with people - Something like the World Tree/virus that infected it: currently Bugg has the roots because that was Captain Johns treasure. Cross Guild might be the location of fake "Laugh Tale"
- Actual dragons/oni descendants
- Snakes/Flying fish - They eat people and take over their bodies
- Vampires - related to germa/figarlands

Coby will be set straight when he learns of Luffy's true dream.

We the audience will learn it either during Luffy fight with Shanks or when Coby confronts him. Whichever one comes last.

Hey there!
The weird chapter structure has been bothering me for a while, and I've been trying to convey the idea that Oda split the narrative and each segment is moving at a different pace, showing different angles of history, but history repeats itself, so the differences are small. Perhaps this last part is still confusing, but it's less important than figuring out what Oda is doing with all these different artstyles, fonts, shadings.

I assumed that if this was to be a thing, Oda would've left us some hints on how to interpret it, as he often does, and went looking for it at the start of the final saga. From my point of view, transition chapters are often the most rich in overarching narrative.

Please pay attention to the left side of the panel: Tsuki is seemingly illustrating Wano's configuration in different time periods, but he's also illustrating the whole of the narrative and the timelines we should be mindful about:

# 1 - All White - it's his own line, and he's completely white - panels that are all white are to be interpreted according to his words: 800 years ago.
# 2 - White Background/Grey character - Law is already showing us what it looks like - panels with whitebackground and grey characters are some sort of middle ground.
# 3 - Greyish Background/White character - Present timeline, the one we've been following.

Summary:
1. All White Panel- Action taking place 800 years ago
2. Grey character/White background - action taking place in the past but not explicit
3. Grey background and white character - action taking place in the present.
__________________

I uploaded the whole page because it includes examples:
# 1 - Notice how Robin+Law enter the hole and Tsuki mentions: that is 800 years in the past. It's colored white, so it's a message within a message.
# 2 - Present Law and Robin, with the more familiar artwork, are in white, and the background is greyish.

I could make some assumptions here, but let's move on to other examples so I can properly substantiate my message.

_________________

I'll use this example because it's quite clear: Chapter 1080, Hachinosu.

We open the chapter with an all white panel, and this is what Hachinosu looks like:

Less windows and eye scars smissing. It's a building, it doesn't change like that in the same sequence. There's also the Coby poster, different from the Coby we know.

These are just some examples, the key thing is that you can try it out for yourself and see the difference between these 3 types of panels. I'm just providing some possible context .

I hope this was helpful.

Ok, last try.

Forget what I wrote about the colors and time period.

Example n1
Let's take one chapter, different actions:

Same chapter, but further down.
Do these two artstyles look similar to you?
__________________________________________________________________________

Example n2
Different chapters, same action/scene: here's Stussy in 3 different chapters. Does Stussy look consistent?

Are these differences really not obvious?

I'm also starting to share a few of those concerns.
If I'm the only one who notices a clear difference, I guess I'm the madman (The Stussy ones are not the best picks I could've made, but it's pretty annoying to go around fishing the best discrepancies)

Oh well, I'll keep rambling away until someone actually notices that chapters have on average 17 pages but the number of panels increased and they're structured in certain blocks.

Paneling is very cluttered ever since the timeskip because the story is way too big now and Oda needs to cover more story with a single chapter, otherwise the manga will never end. This different inconsistent shading you are talking about is primarily from the fan scans you are reading, which really have a bad case of overly dark looking shading which aren't actually there in the original drawings.. If you look at the official release, the color grading is pretty consistent.

Dude, I'm honestly getting tired of these back and forths. I tried to share something useful, people don't find it credible, fine, it is what it is.

The paneling is meant to be a puzzle that connects several storylines into a final mural by the end of the arc/saga, it's been like that since Wano at least.
This isn't a matter of opinion, it's something anyone can do for themselves if they're willing to waste a bit of time. Wano also had some of the major flashbacks of the series, and you have at least two distinct Gol D Rogers and Odens.

Could I have put more effort into explaining the sequencing and stuff? probably, but it'll eventually become obvious, so w/e.
The panel stuff you mentioned is true, he's picking up speed.

Well it could be since it was mention by Cobra that they lost track of what happened to Nefertary Lily 🤯
Makes sense to me, especialy when considering that she apparantly has deeper knowledge about the D. name.
She also appeared to be much stronger than your average Drum Island resident.

I’ve decided to note down some of what I perceived to be hidden messages/narratives during the Vegapunk speech, to see if anything sticks, or if it was all just delusion. I see no harm in posting them in a crazy theories section, as someone might find them curious. I’m way more confident in some than I am in others, but wrote all that I could remember.

Chapter 1117 - Mo-

  • - This one was hard to notice, but felt like one of the most deliberate ones: there’s a treasure 200 meters below sea level, guarded by actual Sea Beasts (a race that seems different than the classic Neptunians) that protect it. How do you get there? You can find ships that dive, but they’re expensive (this doesn’t seem related to coating), and we’re reminded of Noland’s descendant from Jaya, perhaps because he was the boss of those “Salvage King” Monkeys . The treasure might be One Piece, as it’s mentioned in the scene by the SWORD marine girl. The treasure itself has two possibilities, but I’ll ignore that part.

(personal comment #1: I think we’ll be baited with other treasures/relics we’ll need to find soon enough, so I’ll just keep this as reference)
(personal comment #2: This checks out with other hints from a different source/chapter/volume, so I guess at the very least we can ascertain a potential place for the final treasure)

  • - Pirates are fueled by ambition, so the more ambitious they are, the stronger they are as well. This isn’t exactly something new, as it seems to connect with CoC Haki, but there’s some sort of berserk/possession state that blinds them, and their eyes become black/shaded. (I had also mentioned this before, that’s why I thought it’s a racial trait or something, but that’s probably a dumb take as many characters have done it for short periods of time on occasion). Still, this berserk state seems like a split-personality type of thing, but also a source of strength, like the Hakuba example.
  • - Roger and Whitebeard might be alive. It’s not very clear if it’s through this “split personality” thing, or any other means really. It seems Gin and Don Krieg are either their “vessels” or just serve to illustrate that Roger and Whitebeard are alive. They seem to have a goal (that had already been foreshadowed by Shanks), and that seems to be literally defeating “The Time”/”Father Time” (I already found this reference elsewhere, so time is/will be an actual power that the protagonists need to defeat eventually.

(Personal comment #3 I think it is Ju Peter, but there are other candidates)

What Roger left behind:
  • - Seems like at least one more child. I first thought this was one of the least likely hints, but later in the chapter we’re shown a different angle that implies this narrative again, so I’ll stick with it. Judging by the sequence, X-DRAKE is the character implied to be the child, but he could just be an equivalent, as the key aspect is the X he carries. It could also be that he beat someone in the final island he reached, and that unlocked an escape path or something along those lines.
  • - Smoker ends the sequence that leads me to believe Roger had another child, and he’s carrying a huge square box behind him, with an X mark. I connected this with X-Drake, because the box was too small to be a poneglyph, but too big for me to just assume it’s no big deal. (I’ll keep an eye on this one)
  • - Nasjuro has a bit of Nika in him, eliciting the same cartoonish eye pops that Nika does with his cartoonish style. Obviously, you could say that it’s just because Nika was close by, but this happens after everyone mentions that his presence felt weird.

Who’s a D?
This segment is hard to pilot, but it has a reveal no matter how you look at it, but there’s probably an intended message and the rest is bait: here’s my current interpretation.

  • - Vegapunk is cursing those who have the letter D. in their name!
  • Who actually has it and who’s a fake? (I’m confident there’s a twist to be spotted here, but not confident in my interpretation)
  • - There are two Luffys (I believe this one will become clear soon enough): one is a D, the other isn’t
  • - Dragon is probably not.
  • - Law is replaced by Bepo in that panel, so it gets hard to figure out what the author is saying. Either we find out that Bepo is a D, or Law is likely not to be a D.
  • - Surprisingly, the one I’m more confident about is this: Mars is a D, and he’s Kaido/Momo

Seriously, dude, I just don't know how to read you. You obviously can and do read manga thoroughly, but as soon as you talk speculations, it's like chatgpt-2 spamming nonsense blocks of text. Right here you're referencing panels not present in your post. Mars is Kaido/Momo? What the hell is that about?

Maybe it's just me or something is lost in translation, I dunno. Can you maybe present one of your stronger topics individually in a more succinct way?

Dude, I made a whole point about these being personal interpretations, not full fleshed out theories or anything. I understand we don't all read the manga in the same manner, looking for the same details, or even have to acknowledge said details as real. I also understand this is convoluted when laid out without context, but I've come to realize the best way to draw attention to something that's a bit abstract/metaphorical is by being right, so I have to risk looking ridiculous if I want to prove a point. If I'm wrong about all this stuff, people already think I'm having some feverish spree of shitposting, so it's a risk worth taking. And sure, I'll always try to clarify what I mean when asked, but I can't summarize all this shit in the initial post.

Some of these require quite a bit of visual aid, with markings and stuff, and I can't create seem to an album to upload my media. If you don't mind, I'll be a bit more extensive on the "why you can interpret a chapter in more than one way", because establishing the principle makes everything easier. I'll then explain the reasoning behind some of those interpretations later today

This is a manga, not a textbook, it's way more visual than it is verbal, but that doesn't mean you're always looking at the right thing, and Oda is a guy who's been writing a treasure hunt for more than 20 years. If you had to guess, what does a "treasure hunt" type of guy love the most? Maps and Puzzles, but he's also a damn good artist and seems like a cultured guy, seeing that he's made a tremendously popular story that syncretizes dozens of different myths and legends, locations, historical references, all that stuff, and he's been doing it for 20+ years, so there are layers to it. It's an immersive read, both in terms of chapters, but also external source material, word play, etc.

In order to remove my own personal biases (or at least as well as I can) we'll start with an example from the story: Oda gives us plenty of roadmaps and material to make the story more engaging, and I mentioned a few, so here's a good example:

I'll make it as short as possible, so let's take it from here: this cover page is not just Jinbei reading the newspaper, Oda making every part of it show us the purpose of a certain type of illustration. The nuance here is that all the attention is given to the alliance between Luffy and Law, but the background crowd is pointing at something in disbelief --> They're not just calling out Jinbei on the matter, they're calling us out as readers. When you have a character pointing at something, you need to be mindful of it, because you should follow his/their directions. On to the next one.

As you can see, the background characters were giving us a hint, and Jinbei was paying attention to the wrong article. If you connect Jinbei's actions and the cover page text, you'll see that the more important piece of news was the attack by the Sea Beasts, right? Wrong, it's another diversion, because beneath that article is one about some mystery ruins, and us readers know that mystery ruins/cities/islands are what we really wanna know about. This part is important: just like the background crowd were guiding us with the actions and perspective, so is jinbei, and we take his perspective. He's reading the wrong article, but giving us the right window/road to figure out what we needed.

In conclusion, and using only 2 cover pages to illustrate my point, there are plenty of hidden mechanisms that Oda uses to spread the breadcrumbs, but it requires a bit of flexibility in terms of thought process, and attention to detail. This is from chapter 761, so I can assure you that the amount of layers has only increased since then, but we need to put this to the test to see if it means anything or not.

Curiously enough, the chapter starts on the following note:
We had animals going crazy in Dressrosa, and we start this chapter in particular with animals going nuts. I think it doesn't take a lot of mental gymnastics to assume that having Sea Beasts would be complicated, but animals fit well enough. I'll cut this a bit shorter and go straight to the important stuff.

Please scroll down to the other margin, we'll take it from there and then the last part is just my own conclusion on the matter.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
So, this was all the convey the idea that Oda has more up his sleeve than just right to left, downwards and suddenly Luffy punched a bad guy.
If everything else felt convoluted, at least the Jinbei story should give some food for thought when it comes to the logic behind certain interpretations.
I'll mention this last panel since we started this road anyways: Doflamingo talks about a crucial treasure, and that's when we have to pay attention to what's happening: their body language makes no sense, they're looking at us. It's not at us, but at the part of Trebol's body, when they should be fighting to the death, so we're being told something about that treasure of Mary Geoise.

Is it Trebol? No, it's a metaphor: it's a dismembered someone, or a power shared between a certain number of people, that's when your own biases come into play. Law comments that it doesn't add up, and that's certainly true, but you can interpret it as perhaps Sun God Nika missing from the pantheon that currently rules the world, or the missing "one piece" of the puzzle. That's up to you, I'm just emphasizing how we got here.

Ok, final considerations on the bottom.

Ok, a few considerations when it comes to dialogue: like I mentioned, you'll usually find coherence by agreeing with the direction of the characters in the dialogue: Doflamingo is upwards facing down, so you read top->bottom, while Law is facing upwards, so bottom-top.
It can get messy at times, while some other times it's pretty straightforward. You'll forgive me for not having the patience to summarize everything, but you can try it out at your own leisure and see if it works for you. If you reach roadblocks, look at the surroundings/characters, there's usually a pointer.
Let's move on to the more interpretative side of things.
#2

#1 - There was another path to get to a point where you could start applying what the cover pages told us, but I don't have that much time right now and as you can imagine, this is quite laborious to explain. So, let's take the start of the flashback, where things get a little hazy, as the starting point for us to follow the path of the mystery ruins we were told about. Remember that the most important rules are to be coherent with the angle you're facing the action dictates that, and we need to pay attention to the background and the characters, to make sure we're on track. Since we've taken the POV of a character, we now read bottom -> top, unless a character is telling us other wise, the left->right or right to left depends on the same rules. We just need to follow the sense of movement. It sounds hard but you get used to it quite fast.

START HERE
________________________________________________________________________
Final stuff:
So, you asked if you were missing something in translation, and this comment was an honest attempt at showing that, at the very least, we have a couple of curveballs hidden in the narrative. Keep in mind that I understand if you find all of this bullshit, it is what it is, but I pretty much only followed instructions given by Oda in a cover page, and it's a very weird coincidence that we had the beast segment start off the chapter right after reading the cover page. The rest of it already required a bit of open-mindedness, but the cover story lesson and the irony of the beast rampage seem solid enough to at least give this a thought.

I also hope this was enough to at least earn some sympathy when it comes to the cryptic comments I make. Take a look at the size of this comment and I didn't even properly guide you through the inside narrative on the chapter. I didn't even explain my interpretation on the vegapunk stuff... I just wanted to prove the author hides a lot of information in seemingly unimportant stuff, so I might be wrong on every single point I listed, but they didn't come out of nowhere.

Aight, take a look at this stuff, gather some thoughts, and if all of this sounds made up, I understand, we all do our own thing. There's no point in me elaborating on the Vegapunk points if I can't even get this message through, so please give me some feedback before I start writing another essay for no purpose at all.

Cheers.

P.S - It's chapter 761 if you want to clarify anything.

i've probably asked this, but is the letter on fishmen island a letter from Joyboy to the mermaid princess, or is it the other way around? if its the other way around, the mermaid princess apologizing to Joyboy adds up a lot more dont you think?
all the 3 so called nakamas are apologizing to Joyboy... anyways, lets see... not much of a theory

Joyboy was apologizing to Poseidon for breaking his promise of returning to Fish-man Island and fulfilling Noah's purpose

Maybe Imu wants Vivi because he assumes she’s linked to an Ancient Weapon like Shirahoshi.

yea, had a very old theory that Vivi is Uranus, cos just after her big speech in the kingdom's center to stop fighting, it started raining... Now we know Hina and Smoker's communication suggests the dance powder was used, but Smoker denied that we he was asked..

anyways, to your point, i think Imu wanting Vivi wouldn't be because she's linked ot the weapon though. He did show hearts for Vivi while pierced shirahoshi's picture. its possible there is a link, but that wouldn't be the reason for him to want Vivi

It’s weird, because Imu didn’t know about Vivi having the Will of D., and didn’t have a picture of Cobra, even though Cobra is also part of the Nefertari family.
