Imu or Blackbeard? Final Villain

I'm going to make my statement here about which one I think is the true final villain. It's Blackbeard.

Why?
- Luffy has The Most Ridiculous Ability
- Blackbeard has The Most Evil Ability

Whatever Imu's abilities are, I don't think they're comparable to either Luffy's "Most Ridiculous Ability" or Blackbeard's "Most Evil Ability".

Imu lacks the knowledge of the Ancient Kingdom. If Imu knew the secrets of the Ancient Kingdom, then he would have been able to recreate a power source for his Ancient Weapon without York.

The true threat of the story is from how the Ancient Kingdom's technology will be used. Anything concerning modern technology won't matter because the Ancient Technology is Superior Technology that nobody understands how to use.

Well... Here's my conclusion about it. The only people in the story who will know how to use the Ancient Kingdom's technology will end up being people like Luffy or Blackbeard because it requires an innate understanding.

Even if Imu was the final villain, he would still be someone who doesn't fully understand the Ancient Kingdom. We already have evidence of that.

If it just turned out to be Imu Vs. Luffy, then that would mean it's not necessary to learn about the Ancient Kingdom's Superior Technology anymore.

But if Blackbeard learned how to use that Superior Technology, then he would suddenly become the greatest force on the planet. Imu has had 800 years to figure out a power source for his weapon, and he still never figured out how to do it. That should tell you all you need to know about him.

Blackbeard's hobby is archaeology. That's a hint that he has great interest in the Ancient Kingdom.

Lots of people think Imu is the Final Villain because he basically enslaved the world for 800 years. This much is true. However, what is painfully obvious about this is that Imu never learned anything in that entire time.

I think the TRUE PROBLEM of the story is actually how far experimentation has gone, and continued experimentation.

I think experiments the Ancient Kingdom did in the Ancient Times were on such a large scale that the entire planet has been affected since the Void Century, and this is what the true moral issue is.

If you look at it like that... then the things that Imu has done are insignificant. He can't affect the world the same way they did because he doesn't share their knowledge. He has a weapon. Yes. But, it also ran out of power and he had no idea how to get more of it.

Imu didn't really experiment at all. So, he's not a real threat in that regard. He's just a generic evil guy. If I'm right, then it's actually people who will continue experiments that this story is revolving around.

On a final note... I think Blackbeard's ultimate goal is to stop experiments. Forever. He may even view the world as a flawed world because it was experimented on so much. He may even view humans as flawed as a result.

Experiments resulted in humankind hyperevolving. After hyperevolving, and seeing what humans do when they are hyperevolved, like enslave each other, Blackbeard may want to "return everything to nothingness." Meaning, anything that has been experimented on or has hyperevolved, he wants to be destroyed so that it can be liberated from the cycle of evolution and restart in a new form somewhere else.

It's even possible that Blackbeard's "strange body" is a product of experimentation, and it may have caused him hardship. So, he may have resented experimentation from birth or something like that (born hyperevolved).

Sanji: Hm. So, he was experimented on like I was by my father against my will. I can't say I feel sorry for him.
Blackbeard: Zehahahaha!!! That's right. My body is the result of experimentation! They crossed my genes with a squid and now I have three hearts!

Lol... Teach is special.

It's pirate manga, heck, if Blackbeard named after the most famous pirate in history won't be the final villain, then who'll be?

BB is definitely gaining importance but to me it looks like imu is meant to be the big bad. Every single plot development in the story has been influenced by the world's history of which imu is a hidden key player. Slavery, lost kingdoms, wars, discrimination... Imu is at the heart of it all.

Why do I have a feeling that reaching the One Piece or finding it would hardly be the end of the story? I got this idea that there will be HUGE battles on the way to and at Laugh Tale concerning the emperors and possibly Dragon. Due to VP's message we know that the One Piece has to do with the ancient weapons so the winner and their allies of this battle will use whatever they gained at Laugh Tale to fight Imu and his forces. In other words, Imu is likely the final big bad. See, as much as the WG do not want anyone reaching the One Piece, that fight is a pirate's fight to be the Pirate King. But the fight against Imu and the WG is a world wide fight concerning nations and countries in which the PK will be the main character. I'm sure the various countries that Luffy helped before will rally behind him and provide royals to fight for his side, think Vivi, King Elizabello II, Fishmen Island, etc as well as allied pirates. Individual countries probably wouldn't care that much who became PK because life goes on, but the WG government scheming to sink you? Now that is one big bad final boogeyman.

The final villain will be a shocking twist.
Revealed in the penultimate chapter!
It's actually one of the StrawHat Pirates!
But not just anyone but the 11th of the crew

For me Blackbeard screams "I have very sad and relatable backstory and unresolved business with WG".

Thus I feel like it's either that they collaborate with Luffy to defeat Imu, and then fight each other, or they fight first and then lost BB takes down Imu in very Gollum-ish way.

But either way, I'm pretty sure both fight are in the same final arc and closely tied to each other, that "final boss" title doesn't have much meaning.

Oh wow the rare ban hammer, wonder what happened. Going to assume spam.

Anyhoo I have a pretty staunch belief Blackbeard is the "final" villain/antagonist/obstacle of the story. His introduction is too perfect and highlights how his whole journey is a dark mirror of Luffy's own, often only getting an advantage *because* of the chaos Luffy causes everywhere he goes.

Imu on the other hand is totally unrelated to Luffy's journey, feels like a later addition to the story to up the stakes. I'm of the opinion Luffy will at some point act as a literal Pirate King (much to his chagrin) in the battle against Imu and the WG. The Emperors will all have to work with Luffy for some reason and afterward, it's going to be a battle royale with Luffy and Blackbeard being the biggest players.

Smash cut to Shanks and Buggy chilling on the beach a few miles away from the battle, sipping mimosas and reminiscing.

In a post that got deleted he swore at the moderators and the site itself cuz his threads weren't getting the engagement he wanted.

I tend to go back and forth on who will be the final antagonist between these two.

But I don't think Imu is unrelated Luffy's journey since he's the head (possibly created) the WG which created the Warlords, the Marines and Cipher Pole organizations that have stood/standing directly in Luffy's way.

I can't find the exact post where someone put it perfectly, but the gist basically was that Imu and the WG represented the past and they need to be taken out before any real change can be enacted. However, once they are taken out, there will need to be the person left to define what this new era would look like, which is where Blackbeard and Luffy come in.

Has to be Blackbeard.

I don't think it's in luffy's character to make such a change intentionally. Though this is probably something that BB would have an interest in. BB is definitely luffy's top rival in regards to reaching OP at least, more so than shanks or buggy. Relevant to this issue is whether finding the OP comes before or after the fight with imu, I think vegapunk's message makes a case that finding OP could come before imu is taken down.

Another issue to me is the inherently flimsy crew BB has build. Not powerwise of course but rather in how united the crew is. The crew is built around each member's shared interest rather than loyalty or even the strength of it's yonko. They are not friends nor would they bother shedding a tear for one another. Heck, it wouldn't be strange in the least if its BB's crew that puts the final nail in his coffin if their shared interests stop being shared.

I thought about this as well but it would be so much like Naruto ending. Oda can do better.
