I forget what the source for this was but I've seen it enough times around to assume there's some truth to it: it's supposed to be in an alternate 1950s Japan. Of course that gets weird when you see certain anachronistic tech like old cellphones and....a game console.Frickin' beautiful.
Remember that KGB takes place around the 90s if we observe architecture, vehicles and tech (not the flipphones). 50,000,000 yen is 328,000 dollars which in 1990 would equate to 800,000 dollars which is... still pretty cheap for a nuke. Guess Kyora was being stingy.
