MY PREDICTIONS FOR 2025

Oricon:

• One Piece either 1st either 2nd.
• Sakamoto Days within top 3, reach 250K per new volume.
• Blue Box within top 10, almost reach 200K per new volume.
• Jujutsu Kaisen within top 10.
• My Hero Academia within top 20.
• Kagurabachi within top 20.

Anime:

• The One Piece starts airing at the end of 2025.
• Akane-Banashi anime announced.

VERY UNLIKELY PREDICTIONS:

• Oda stops drawing One Piece and focus only on story.

• Kubo is back with either last arc of Bleach or Burn The Witch.
• Taizan5 comes back with a sport manga which will be successful.
• Yes, these ones are actually not predictions but just what I would love to see ahahah!

 

[Discomusic]

- One Piece will be One Piece-ing for another safe year, Elbaf arc will be a short one and then the story will move to some other plot thread outside of Mugiwara territory for the remainder of the year.
- HunterXHunter will last 20 chapters total and that's it for 2025.
- Yozakura and Undead are very close to the end. The next batch will be at the expenses of those two and Hakutaku.
- We will worship the knees of Roboco for yet another safe year.
- Sakamoto Days will have its true explosion and will aim at the status of pillar thanks to the huge popularity boost from the anime. The series won't definitely end this year.
- The Elusive Samurai will likely end around the second half of the year while Witch Watch will close the second part of the story before the end of 2025, that will end with adult Nico back in action.
- Blue Box will keep resolving plots and subplots preparing to close within the following year.
- Akane-banashi sadly has reached its popularity peak, anime will be announced but won't change much the perception. As for artistic peak, we haven't seen the best of it yet.
- Both Kill Blue and Nue's Exorcist won't change much from their current situation. They will probably reach anime announcement but it won't be this year.
- Kagurabachi explosion still going strong. Fans will find many reasons to talk about it and I will probably find some cosplay and action figure at the comic convention I attend every November.
- Chojo won't survive and will probably end in Spring. Astro Royale will float, and unless it finds the correct ingredient for a turning point in perception, it will be axed at the end of 2024. Kiyoshi will have a chance but won't get to see the summer. Hima-Ten! will still be there by the time 2026 comes.
- Ichi the Witch will be a great hit with a lot of potential. Shinobi Undercover will be a decent hit, Yozakura-tier. Hakutaku is dead already, as I stated I expect for this, Yoza and UU to be the sacrifices for the next batch.
- Syd Craft will survive for a while because of the author, but the second part of the year will be sink or swim for it.
- RuriDragon won't change much from its current situation.
- A number of veteran authors will return, if I have to pick some I'll say Yuji Kaku (I hope he will overcome his problem with author comments) or Kei Kamiki. Some newbies will debut too, and the hit of the year will come from one of them. A GFC winner will debut and fail, as per tradition.
- Given that new battle mangas are going strong, we'll have at least one of them each batch. We will also have a bit of all the other genres, with proper dedication to finding a slice of life series that works.
- All in all, in 2025 some important series will end and there will be a lot of debuts (not immediately though). The year will be mostly dedicated to consolidate the new potential hits that Jump has recently found and maybe we will be in for a surprise or two.



Also, as I declared last week, it's time for my traditional ranking of the axed series of 2024:
1. Green Green Greens: We all loved it and I won't be the exception. Once it was clear that the focus of the story was the path of maturation for the protagonist, we were able to enjoy the ride and to cry with the heroine when it ended. Having said that, I think that the author should get over it, he seems still attached to the series.
2. Martial Master Asumi: I didn't know Kawada and I liked a lot what I saw. I was easily engaged by the characters and always found myself rooting for the undercard. It's a shame that it didn't get the success it deserved.
3. Psych House: I think I am a fan of the genre, so I liked it even if it was clear that it couldn't work in Shonen Jump. The characters were charming in a way, and I could see them use their powers for petty things for many years to come. Unfortunately it was not bound to happen.
4. Two on Ice: The memories of this series are fading, I remember that it has some touching moments but the sport was way too niche (and they even admit it in-universe). The "Gift from God" was a very disturbing and fascinating character that became the real protagonist towards the end.
5. Cipher Academy: I remember it for being very tough to read sometimes. Good when the focus was on the story and the characters, bad when it was on the riddles. In the final part it learned the lesson and focused more on the former aspects.
6. MamaYuyu: The series with the greatest potential and consequently the one with the most wasted potential. Instead of gathering every hero and antagonist of each universe in one, it should have been an exploration of other universes, and perhaps we would still find it in the ToC.
7. Dear Anemone: Weird experiment, the author did good in trying but apart from the art, the series didn't have much personality. The best part for me was the end with those rabbits, they should start from there if they want a second try.
8. Kyokuto Necromance: Unfortunately Aliens Area was better. This one flattened the good points of that series while keeping the bad ones, so it couldn't work.
9. Shadow Eliminators: So bland and anonymous I can't even say anything about it.
10. Yokai Buster Murakami: Please stop giving Ihara these chances, it is clear at this point that it is not his job. He does good covers, maybe he can become an illustrator for some artwork?

Splitting into returning and new series predictions like last year.

Spoiler: old series

- Yozakura ends at the first batch.
- Undead ends between the first and second batchs.
- Sakamtoto get's a modest boost during it's first cour, leading people to deem it a failure, but the second cour manages to boost sales much higher.
- Witch Watch enters final arc by the end of the year.
- Blue Box gets a second season announced as well as a live action movie (gonna keep saying this until it happens, seems like such a no brainer.)
- Akane-banashi anime announced for Fall 2025 studio Madhouse.
- Kill Blue ends this year. Despite this, an anime is still announced.
- Nue continues to chug along, no anime announced.
- Kagurabachi peaks pre anime at 200k, anime announced at the end of the year just before Festa.
- Chojo ends after it's 1st anniversary, does not get a cover.
- Astro continues as it has been.
- Kiyoshi ends before it's anniversary.
- Hima-ten makes it's anniversary but is cancelled afterwards.
- Ichi sells 40k, they make Usazaki into a color page machine.
- Shinobigoto makes it past one cancellation round before ending.
- Hakutaku is instant axe, Ishikawa gets lead color pages in an issue of Giga later in the year.
- Sydcraft is another entry into the vet that sells 30k leading to heated debates.

Spoiler: new series

- Natsuki Osonoe debuts, it's neither of his one shots.
- Jun Harukawa debuts with Hitsuji Tora wo Nasu (please).
- Masayoshi Satoshou returns with his Tonde Hi ni Iru Natsu to Mushi one shot from last year.
- Yuuki Kawaguchi returns with a romcom (Saito making Jump a romcom magazine confirmed)
- Phantom Seer duo still do not get a new series.
- Isekai manga.
- Gymnastics manga.

WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP 2025 - PREDICTIONS!

Yo guys & girls, feel free to make your official 2025 predictions for the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, mangas and anime! You can of course include Jump Festa predictions for December since it falls into the beggining of the 2025 fiscal year, don't be afraid of making some wild predictions, it's just a fun game we're doing and who knows, some wild predictions actually come true, so be creative if you want but of course take it seriously too

Important: Do not mock or criticize any prediction from others, each member has the right to make whatever prediction they want even if is something almost sure to not happen, okay? so let's go!

yay, first time participating it:

Predictions for 2025:

• One Piece won't finish Elbaf arc, because oda will take a lot of breaks.
• HunterxHunter won't stay on the magazine, Togashi will go back to hiatus
• YozaFam ends this year
• UU ends next to the middle of the year
• Sakamoto Days will get a significantly boost on sales and will have 2nd season announced in this year
• Roboco ends this year too with the announcement of a 2nd season
• Kill Blue WILL survive and have it's anime announced by July, and will get more 2 magazine covers this year
• Ichi the Witch will be the manga with more magazine covers after one Piece this year
• Shinobigoto will stay at the magazine for the entire year
• Astro Royale will get a boost on sales and TOC ranking and will survive till the end of the year
• Kagurabachi will get to 300k manga sales on a single month, but it won't get an anime announcement this year. KGB will also be the manga with most 1st places on TOC this year
• Ruri Dragon will still sell amazingly well and it wont get an anime announcement this year
• Elusive Samurai will reach its story climax
• Nue will reach a good sales point, next to 50k this year
• Kiyoshi will live and have a huge boost of popularity, sales and TOC rankings this year, Kiyosho might become the next hit together with KGB, Blue Box, Sakamoto Days
• Blue Box wont have nothing big this year, but it will stay doing awesome
• Hima-ten! wont get axed, and will get Nisekoi's author recommendation in one of it's volume releases
• Black Clover ends this year
• new basketball manga will be released
• another romcom after syd craft is axed will be released as well
• Masanori Morita will be back at jump

• Hakutaku and Chojo will be cancelled
• Syd Craft - dead this year

Sales Jargon

- Ichi the Witch sells 50k~ first volume and ends the year doing much better
- Shinobigoto sells 20k~ first volume and stagnates around the 40k range
- Himaten climbs a little with volume 2, and overshadows Syd Craft completely
- Speaking of Syd Craft, it sadly flops (I haven't read it yet but I've heard J+ views are abysmal)
- Kagurabachi stagnates at around 200k copies first month
- Sakamoto only gets a slight boost, and people are stuck saying "it would have been the next Kimetsu if Bones got their hands on it!!"
- Kill Blue continues dropping
- Nue's Exorcist keeps pace with previous volumes but never surpasses 30k
- Same with Astro, it regains some footing but never enough to earn its audience back

Adaptation Jargon

- Akane continues soldiering on as it has and gets its anime, it's by Doga Kobo
- Kagurabachi anime officially announced late 2025, it's by Pierrot or MAPPA
- Nue anime leaked around the same time, it's by Shaft
- Netflix somehow manages to get the licences for 2 of the 3
- RuriDragon or Blue Box get a live action adaptation (if RuriDragon, I learn Japanese)
- ChainsawMan Movie (do we count that, since the content was published in WSJ?) gets a trailer next month and puts the first season to shame
- Sakamoto anime is pretty bad overall and the Japanese are NOT happy (petitions are made)

(End)

- Hakutaku is gone immediately (if this were bingo, you'd call this prediction "free space")
- Kill Blue gets axed as well, though not nearly as fast at around 2-3 rounds from where we are now
- Kiyoshi meets a similar fate, and maybe Chojo as well? I don't know, can never get a read on that series
- Roboco and Yozafam finish on their own terms
- I don't know if you'd call it a natural conclusion, though Undead Unluck ends in 1-2 rounds regardless

New Serialisations

- Tate Roll is serialised but flops; everyone blames the editor
- Shirokuma Shirasaki is given a chance, and it's the next big thing
- Maybe Muji Mujina as well? I don't know too many of these one shot mangaka

Mix

- Nue's Exorcist continues to dodge recommendation obis for some reason
- Jump claims another, and Takeru starts taking more frequent breaks (often supplemented by ex chapters)
- I catch up to HxH before it goes on hiatus again and when it does I get really bummed out

 

[SunPillar]

• I believe Undead Unluck and Yozakura at least make it to the spring so like March to June before ending.
• I think the anime for Sakamoto Days doesn't really give it a big boost, maybe a smaller one, but it does keep sales from declining for awhile.
• Witch Watch will have respectable boost. Nothing too crazy, but noticeable.
• This series hasn't been in the magazine for while, but I predict Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 to come out October 2025 and it may not do Mugen Train numbers, but it will still be really successful.
• Speaking of Demon Slayer, I will predict that Gotouge could debut a new series this year. Another veteran I would like to see come back in the main magazine this year is Furudate.
• I think Kill Blue will be soft axed.
• I believe Nue's Exorcist is the new Ayakashi Triangle in that its found it's niche audience and sales will neither grow or decline no matter what promotion and will stay in the 27,000 - 29,000 range.
• Akane Banashi and Kagurabachi will get an anime announcement.
• Yu Odoriba (My Little Mars and Bad Tripper) will finally debut a series in the Magazine. (I'm coping I know). I hope he doesn't go with Bad Tripper because while I enjoy it, it will be continuously compared to Kagurabachi.
• Togo Goto and Kento Matsuura will return! (I'm coping x2). I hope it's with a sports series, but if they do return with a supernatural battle series I hope they go with the vampire one because I'm in a vampire mood lately so I think it would be cool.
• I think Ichi the Witch Volume 1 will have higher sales than it's following volumes. But I don't think the decline will be steep and stagnate at a respectable sales place.
• I think we see a series debut from a GFC contestant before we do the winner, but I believe a winner will actually debut this year, but maybe towards to the end.

Kagurabachi will be the next official pillar in 2025 (pseudo-jjk status) next to sakamoto days and akane, maybe blue box in between too (these 3/4 will be constantly in the front of the groups cover with luffy)

Kagurabachi & akane will also have an anime announcement, in next year festa

Sakamoto's last saga (part 1/3) type shii will be on the roll, sakamoto will be running for an next few years


Blue box might end late 2025


Astro royal will be a greater succes,


UU with a "rushed ending"

(New series in it's place will be a hit action manga by a veteran)



Yozakura Family ends with an new series in its place being an unique manga/or they will try a spoken... (gonna get axed tho)



Kill blue will have a neutral ending having an slot for one-shots from newbies in its place



Himaten thrives with sales and popularity if they keep pushing

Shinobigoto is a 50/50. We don't really know the state it will go but it will stay for an long time atleast in 2025. But IF i had to guess, My guess will be that it survives



Kiyoshi after all that hope... will be axed. But will have an long run



AND HAKUTAKU WILL SELL 50K HAKUTAKUSS IN VOLUME 1 & 2

- The sports curse will be broken by a fantasy manga that'll mix sports with exorcism. Will be made by a duo, with the writer being a veteran.
- Paru will follow Nishi's footsteps and will write a WSJ manga. The artist will be the Dear Anemone author.
- New manga with the MC's companion being an AI.
- New gag by the Packy/Let's Haikyu author, with a non human MC.
- Kaito will be back to the main magazine with the Blue Box killer.
- One of the Roboco volume covers will be a Kagurabachi one.
- Netflix will open their own comic/manga platform and some famous WSJ authors will be in the starting line-up.
- No WSJ author (classic or new) will die this year, one might get arrested.

Decided to get a little pessimistic with sales prediction

-One Piece's final volume of 2025 fails to surpass 1 million in a month, with steep declines throught the year
-Hunter x Hunter starts getting released irregularly, and if another volume is released, will drop to around 600K
-Yozakura ends early doors. It'll decline a little pst anime but won't drop below 30K
-Undead also ends around the same time, and drops a little more to 25K
-Me and Roboco's movie does jack all for the series
-Sakamoto's anime does a little better than Blue Box and gets a couple volumes on Oricon, but doesn't get massive. Sales will increase to 170K
-The Elusive Samurai goes straight back to dropping and will hit 45-50K before the second season, which'll air Summer 2025, will bring it back to 55K.
-Witch Watch's anime does a little better than Yozakura and brings the manga to 45K. A second season is announced.
-Blue Box's anime boost has legs due to consecutive 2-cour and ends up outlasting Dandadan on the Shoseki lists. it'll stagnate at 150K.
-Akane-banashi countinues dropping and ends up stagnating at 40K like Elusive. An anime is announced for Winter 2026.
-Ruri's momentum is killed by the hiatus and it quickly stagnates at 140K
-Kill Blue is sent to where it belongs. Take it how you will
-Nue continues stagnating and goes down a little to 25K, but will still get a healthy amount of color pages, a couple of decent rankings, and will stay afloat. An anime is announced at the end of the year.
-Kagurabachi continues growing, but at a slower pace. It hits 160K and Hokazono takes a few breaks and drastically cuts down on color pages, though it'll still get covers.
-Chojo gets axed around the 60-70 chapter mark. Sales will continue dropping and it hits 8K pre-axe.
-Astro continues on its downward trend and by the end of the year will hit 20-22K. Rankings will remain volatile and by the end of the year, will find itself in a similar position as Kill Blue is now.
-Kiyoshi vol 2 sees 0 growth, remaining at 11-12K. It'll get axed before its first anniversary.
-Hima-ten's rankings see a trend towards the middle, but will conitnue to avoid the bottom. Sales growth is stagnant, will be around Cipher level, but being the only popular romcom at the moment, it will suffice.
-Ichi the Witch sees a strong start at 40K before quickly growing and stagnating at 70K. Won't reach Sakamoto or Blue Box levels, but will get lots of color and covers, taking some workload off Suzuki and Hokazono.
-Shinobi continues with the ok rankings and volume 1 sees a decent start at 15-20K. Rankings afterward will be volatile and it will only grow to 30K, but it'll be hanging in there at 2025.
-Hakutaku becomes the obvious smash success that we all know it to be. Oda weeps when checks his name Ishikawa announces that the Hakutaku is real.
-Sid Craft has horrid Jump+ trial and PV views (even worse than Hakutaku) and quickly drops to the bottom and gets axed. Tsutsui's name will allow sales to reach 7K.

So this is how I see the 4 week rankings going

1. One Piece - 980,000
2. Hunter x Hunter - 600,000
3. SAKAMOTO DAYS - 170,000
4. Kagurabachi - 160,000
5. Blue Box - 150,000
6. Ruri Dragon - 140,000
7. Ichi the Witch - 75,000
8. The Elusive Samurai - 55,000
9. WITCH WATCH - 45,000
10. Akane-banashi - 40,000
11. Shinobi Undercover - 30,000
12. Nue's Exorcist - 25,000
13. Astro Royale - 22,000
14. Hima-ten! - 20,000
15. Me and Roboco - 13,000

-While we don't get any straight exorcist series this year, we'll get a twist on the premise like Sentai Daishikkaku.
-We see another romcom series get published.
-While some gag series will be published, none will find success.
-Tate Roll gets the serialization
-We'll see one more sacrifice to the GFC curse.

My 2024 Predictions
ONE PIECE: Egg Head will end, and next step will be Elbaf
MHA: Gonna end before spring (prob meanwhile S7 airs)
JJK: Gonna end at the end of the year (or at leas will be not much left)
MYF: Will not end in 2024 but will anounce with a CP the start of the final arc, Anime airs on spring (2 cours), will not be a super boost but much better than UU (maybe gonna help reach 50k mark)
UU: Anime will continue to do nothing, sales will continue decline, by the end of the year (if its not already gone) it should be near the end
Roboco: Its roboco, so who knows (i just want a Bleach and Black Clover parody covers)
SD: Finally the anime will be announce, gonna fell over the 100k mark but still above 80k
TES: Anime will be a good adap but will end up as UU, sales will be pretty much on the line (40k mark), and maybe will be closer to ending
WW: Anime announce
BB: Anime on fall, pretty super strong boost, but series gonna end meanwhile the anime airs (end of 2024 start of 2025)
Akane: Anime annnounce in Jump Festa 2025, sales will be between 45-50k
Ruri: Return.
Cipher: Will finally reach the 20k mark, struggle to survive
KB: Sales gonna start going up instead of the actual decline, 2 covers (random and anni)
Nue: Same as KB, i think it will start getting pushed, and maybe some recomendation in a vol obi
MMA: If a miracle doesnt happen, axed
MMY: Gonna be axed
Kgb: If it survives is gonna be because everything else is doing worse, time will be Kagura best friend, will end up survive (and maybe win Next Manga Awards)
TOI: Gonna be axed
GGG and Ruirui: Too early to said, but if GGG succeds (or at least does more than 10k first vol), then is truly over form MMA

New series/Future of Jump:
-Burn the Witch will return
-Naoshi Komi will return
-A new Jump game will be announced
-Nakano leaves as EiC

-The winner of GFG 2022 and 2023 will be published

MHA: It did end, not before Spring tho
JJK: It ended in the final part of the year so... 100% correct
MYF: It didnt end in 2024 (i was correct), it was 2 cours and started in spring (also correct), didnt reach the 50k mark but was kinda better than UU's nothing.
UU: 100% correct in everything
Roboco: Still not Black Clover or Bleach Covers
SD: Almost 100% correct, some vols did end up selling less than 100k but it end up recovering
WW: 100% correct
BB: Anime did start in fall, good boost but not super strong as i said
Akane: Sales part correct, anime have to wait
Ruri: 100% Correct
Cipher: It died
KB: Its dying

Something like Blue Lock for the acid trip but with more depth because I don't really care about BL's characters....

One Piece: Releases less than 30 chapters this year.
Sakamoto Days: Won't get a good boost.
Witch Watch: This gets a better anime boost.
Akane: Anime out October 2025. Doga Kobo.
Ruri: Anime announced for 2026. Cloverworks.
Nue: Anime announced for 2026. Bind.
Kagurabachi: Reaches 250K and anime is announced. Bones.
Himaten: Lives.
Ichi: 100K seller.

Jump will publish a "Banished from the Hero's Party" manga and people will get mad.
Syun Matsuena will show up on Jump.
We'll get a shared cover of Kagurabachi and Nue's Exorcist, reaction to it will be hilarious.

- The ending of two pillars, MHA and JJK
- Yozakura and Undead Unluck entering their final stretch
- Yozakura, The Elusive Samurai, and Blue Box anime debuts
- Sakamoto and Witch Watch anime announcements
- Kagurabachi's explosion in popularity as the new big battle series
- Wakui and Nishi release new series on Jump
- Usazaki's return to the magazine
- Ruri Dragon's return from hiatus
- Tributes for the passing of Akira Toriyama
- Nakano stepping down, and Saito becoming the new EiC

Definitely the most exciting year since I started following the magazine. Now it's time to see what 2025 has in store. I'm looking forward to making my predictions because this will be my first time doing so.
