gotta also point out bravern is being voted anime of the year in some japanese poll! cygames is a very good choice for a studio and hikaru's trailer was super good (another great example of a gay manga btw). if they do kagurabachi with the same style/sakuga talent they've been giving any of these shows it's an easy top anime contender for sure
Well, I have watched Bravern under the pretense of assuming it was a Gundam-like show, only for it to be more super robot Mazinger adjacent, only for it to be the gayest show I have ever watched. Can't even be mad, they got me good with that one. It's Cygames, their cashcow Granblue is being kept afloat off 30-40 year old women who are still pining for homosexual angels or homosexual knights who only show up in an event once a year. But hey, they give everyone a bit of everything.

Cygames is one of the few people who answered the question: "How do we answer the growing concerns over sexualization and objectification of women in media?" by saying, "Just make sexy women and sexy men." And that totally totally works. Cygames have warped my sexuality and I've turned into someone who lusts after good collarbones, shoulders, armpits and backs. Even now, I keep trying to hunt for a waifu to simp for, but nah, Cygames got me covered, and everyone I seek is just a lesser version of what Cygames had provided me...

Anyway, point is, I trust Cygames with my life. They've made a bunch of blunders and miss as often as they hit. But they're dedicated to whatever vision they have, and when they score a hit, they're going for a homerun.

Agreed about Bravern being the best thing since sliced bread, don't agree about blunders or misses though.

Bravern was a bit too much though and as a mecha fan much preferred others...still the no n cygames staff affiliated with it made it fun.

Bravern is the anime of the year imo. Kagurabachi would be in good hands if this rumor is true.

It's so funny seeing Nurarihyon there with such a quick announcement — 100% wish that had a remake and finished properly, although I don't think the ending is salvageable without rewrites. If I recall correctly we got some extra content last year but it never got translated :/ Still, very fond memory of watching it and I think the manga still holds up well. Also introduced me to the great band that is Monkey Majik!

I can't believe you'd downplay Jimoto ga Japan's explosive popularity like this.

Was pretty surprised at the fact that it was this early, but then again it’s not an official announcement.

Very doubtful that a Kagurabachi anime would just get casually leaked through a random article in a Japanese website
Did a little reading and they're apparently a pretty well respected business newspaper in Japan. One of the three biggest in the country and currently the oldest by a bit as well I think? Not saying it's factual or anything, I know how the news can be in my country, but definitely not a random article and that's why a lot of the bigger manga news accounts (and not only the sensationalists like tsumi, lol) have been spamming it as gospel.

Had a bit of time to sober up and CyGames is still such a funny choice to me. Like, if anything you think a gacha company would shoot for Nue instead. Regardless, looking at the article now and they mentioned Shueshia choosing them over, say, MAPPA or one of the usual suspects because they want to avoid a collapse in production. If that's true I'm in good spirits. It's probably the best outcome a fan of the series could have hoped for. Now we just gotta play the waiting game and see if any of this is true in like, a year or two or three.

It's still crazy to me that Kagurabachi got memed as the next big thing by Western fans and it ended up actually living up to the hype.

When you say that about the site, it's hard to be suspicious about the authenticity of the information...

Cygames has always went for the biggest shonens to prop up their brands. That's why Granblue has a Kimetsu No Yaiba, One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia collab. They probably saw the writing in the wall for Kagurabachi's future and immediately jumped on it while it was still in its infancy. And it's a golden opportunity to secure a piece of the pie, especially this early on.

My only doubts about Cygames are their several missteps. Granblue Fantasy Relink took ten years to develop (game turned out pretty great tho) and Uma Musume, the mobile game, was delayed so much that the anime aired way before the game was live. Production delays are a norm for them, so I wouldn't be shocked if it took 2028 for the KGB anime to hit the screens... The good news is, they make good on their delays and the end product is usually worth the wait.

I can't state enough that they hit homeruns whenever they hit. Zombieland Saga was one of the best idol shows I have ever watched (it was the only idol show I ever watched because I got bamboozled). Akiba Maid War was a shitpost from the getgo but was able to tell heartfelt stories about the yakuza underworld. With maids. Bravern is. It's peak. I have never been so... unangered from being fooled into watching Brokeback Mountain. These are all anime originals from Cygames. One look at the first episodes of these shows will tell you that there were probably ten people like me who sat in an office and started the meeting with, "Wouldn't it be funny if..."

Oh, as for animation, have you seen Uma Musume?

If they can pull out this banger for track and field, imagine what they're gonna do with a swordfight. I can feel that they know, if they bring out this level of animation for a battle shonen, especially one that's been taken notice of on a global level at its infancy, it's just gonna make money rain.

... Assuming the rumors are true, of course.

Still finds very weird how a japanese article would just casually leak the information that a Shonen Jump manga will get a anime and even the production and studio, they take these things (a bit too) seriously, if Jump would want to announce it they would have made with the issue #1 or give a Stage on Festa, if is true they must be mad, jp companies hate leak information.

It's still crazy to me that Kagurabachi got memed as the next big thing by Western fans and it ended up actually living up to the hype.
At the time, people were glazing it, hoping it'd turn out like Morbius. Just ironic glazing, fully expecting another dead flop. Maybe even fool Jump into publishing a million copies, expecting it to sell well, only to go broke. A Samurai 8 situation, just recreate it. It would be funny. It was just the strangest roll of the dice when it turned out that everything was solid. Just being a fun read was enough to retain an audience. Then Sojo just pulled up to the shop, and it felt like a huge deal because it kicked the plot into overdrive. And it has not lost steam ever since.

As for me, I was sold on Kagurabachi by the 2nd chapter. It was these pages.

If there was a way to describe setting the mood, tone and setting of an entire series, I would point toward these pages. The dark colors, the somber feeling as the panels pan out from Chihiro, out the building and into an overview of the skyline as a big ass TOKYO just gets dumped right there. I felt the cinematography from the paneling. It gave me a good feel for the kind of story I was about to read. It just felt right. It told me I was in for something special.
