So with the reveal that Davy D Jones is a crucially important character to the lore I think it's worth discussing what Davy Jones Locker is since it's almost pointless to introduce Davy Jones into the story like this without his locker being important. I am not too sure about the flying dutchman being a thing since that would imply the existence of the dutch in one piece. Which I suppose is feasible in the pre flood world but it'd still be weird. Then again "Japan" exists in OP so who knows.

In myth Davy Jones Locker is basically an euphemism for the bottom of the ocean. Which seems to pertain to imu who is very likely the "Sea Devil" which is occasionally mentioned through the plot. Davy jones supposedly owns everything at the bottom of the ocean. Meanwhile imu seems to want to sink the world deep under the ocean, probably under 10 kms worth of water. Essentially sending the world to davy jones locker.

So I think there's a few possible scenarios:

1.- Imu has davy jones locker.
2.- The one piece is davy jones' locker
3.- Imu is davy jones' locker.

Where I lean for the time being is that One Piece actually davy jones' locker. In this scenario the OP being found would mean that someone found the core of imu's power and would have the capacity to either take the power for himself or perhaps break imu's hold over the world.

Davey Jones might be alive, using the immortality power, he couldn't die so Imu did the next best thing. He put him in a place where nobody could go and free him... the bottom of the ocean. Jones helped Imu win the war based on a promise Imu made with him. Imu broke the promise and imprisoned him at the bottom of the ocean.

But didn't the Roger Pirates reach the final island already and what they found there just made them LOL? It's hard for me to find your reasoning to be "funny" because it's actually very serious and Roger and co would have had a more stern face and likely would have named the island something other than Laugh Tale. Instead, whatever he found he realized that he was early, not someone's power and at the same time what was found was hilarious.

In other words, if Davy Jones' locker is the source of Imu's powers, it cannot be the One Piece. Edit: I see that there are theories that Laugh Tale is underwater. If true then that will definitely lead more credibility to your idea that Davy Jones' locker is on Laugh Tale/is the OP. I can stomach the idea but it's just kind of convenient plot wise to be true. It's like man what have the merfolk been doing all this time? Not exploring their realm all over the underwater portion of the seas? I can see some limitations as the depths are extremely vast and dangerous but damn they got hundreds of years to explore more of the seafloor and as a race adapted specifically for underwater life, that kind of sucks they only congregate around fishman island underwater. I get there is light and all that but still.

So if you got the immortal surgery then you cannot be mortally wounded? I think if you get your head chopped off you still die right? It just let you live forever as long as your physical being is well was how I thought it worked.

Van Der Dekken's ship is called the Flying Dutchman. He is like the 8th generation using the ship and it crawls on sea floor. So we already have clues from Oda that this connects with Fishman. Maybe fishmen are a race created by banishing the original people of D to the bottom of the ocean and thats why CD hate them?

There definitely is a link. There has to be a reason why he is specifically Van Der Dekken IX. That 9 is no coincidence. And then throw in flying dutchman, a ship that might be from the void century, AND the ES (energy steroids) there is a connection.

Idk if anyone ever talks about this as I haven't seen anyone discuss it yet but for me, the ES is a very important but subtle plotpoint. It was introduced almost as a plot device to make weakass Hody Jones stand barely of a chance vs Luffy and then that's...it. But I don't think that that is the end of its importance. The ES were said to be a national treasure for the Ryugu kingdom. It sure seems like many countries has some sort of national treasure, from Wano's Pluton to Elbaph's legendary fruit to Alabasta's ponyglyph to Zou's...you get the point. The national treasure is always protected (and usually kept a secret) by the ruling ancestral royal line in respect to that country due to some reason that always goes back to the VC. I am going to lump in the energy steroids too because it literally is in the national treasure category stored neatly in the tomatebako. It gives you strength but makes you old. Now think about what will happen if someone who cannot grow old takes these? Someone like Imu? Bro hates the fishfolk because they took his sensu beans away so he cannot continue getting stronger. This might be the reason why Joyboy held Fishman Island in such regards, they risked being targets of Imu by stealing and becoming gaurdians of his energy steroids and that is to be respected for their courage and we can see the results of such heroic deeds: deep discrimination by many of the humans who survived the vc after Imu won. But I may be overthinking it.

One thing I cannot overlook is if this is all true how can hody jones duplicate the drugs and Imu couldn't if they really were stolen from him? There are a few things to hash out with my wild ideas but I really do think the energy steroids has a bigger role to play here because if you think about it the ES is actually found in Davy Jones' locker as they are found at the bottom of the sea in the Ryugu Kingdom.

I had forgotten about vanderdecken. I am going to guess his lineage is indeed connected to davy jones considering the current vanderdecken did in fact learn about the mermaid princess from his predecessor. The original's legend also fits imu way too conveniently (he angered a god and then threw his crew overboard).

Laugh tale according to oda does have a physical treasure so I would venture the guess there are a lot of things there. Probably mountains of gold along with other things of varying importance. I could see the locker being there while there's also sometime that made the crew laugh.

That's an interesting thought about the energy steroids. They did seem super random to have hidden away. I think beyond even use for an immortal person is using them for your soldiers if you don't care for them. Look at Kaido and all those pleasures and smiles. Imagine what he would do if he had access to those pills.

Have no idea how Hody duplicated them. They seem to require somone like MADs to work with them so Hody & co who are all average folk making more of them never made sense to me.

Fishman island definitely has deep historic ties. They are the exact reverse of CD in location 20k meters apart (10 above and 10 below), both will be unaffected by world flooding, both have giant tree in middle (same one with Fishman having the roots and Marijeose having the upper canopy). Plus Fishmen island had RP, has Noah, has Tamateko box, Flying Dutchman, and Poseidon. We also have a direct apology from Joyboy to them too.

I think Davy Jones might have been part fishman so he could breath underwater and use his ship. Maybe in the original world from thousands of years ago Fishman Island was the capitol of the AK or something.

When did Hody Jones duplicated the steroids?

Iirc, one of the Ryugu ministers noticed some of the contents missing. That is the keyword, "some." I think Hody jacked them after murdering Otohime then gave it to one of his crewmates/associates (forgot if he had his crew or not yet) to duplicate. But again, he didn't take them all but only some, likely because he knew he had a way to use those to create more but that was never elaborated. That is why they decided to put a bomb in the tametabako, it's so the next person who tries to steal the contents will have a fiery surprise.

It's kind of weird right? Basically all the national treasures we have been privy to thus far are singular and not something that can be reproduced just like that. Even Vegapunk cannot duplicate a Poneglyph. But these energy pills can be recreated by some fodders? They must have been widely used at some point and someone took the rest and spirited them away to prevent abuse and maybe the formula was lost? We really need more information regarding this.

And Idk if it is rational to think this way or not but does it bug anyone else that Davy and Hody share the same first name? Sure if the last names are the same then there is an immediate connection but it still bothers me. Maybe I am looking for something that isn't there but it seems like Hody was eating "power" that was found in Davy Jones' locker. Oddly enough, Poseidon is also found in this domain...

Fishman island has a lot of connections to the void century. Formerly a rio poneglyph, poseidon, noah and it's promise.... I figured the energy steroid was a another lost bit of technology. Maybe meant to be used in moderation for war.

I'd like to mention that Davy Jones and Flying Dutchman is solely a thing in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. In the real historical lore the Captain of the Flying Dutchman is... Captain Van Der Decken.

But not that I dislike this idea. My personal pet theory is that the fishmen/merfolk were created by precursors of WG experimenting on prisoners/slaves lineage factor by mixing it with Neptunian lineage factors in bottom of the ocean to create Poseidon. Maybe Davy was part of this fate too, imprisoned somewhere bottom of the sea for experiments.

After all it was said that the Ancient Weapons were created by ancient people in void century. And that Vegapunk tech is from void century. And Vegapunk technology included genetic manipulation to create hybrid clones (seraphim).

Ah I had no idea thanks for clarifying. Interesting idea on the origin of Fishman being tied to attempts to create Poseidon. I hadn't thought about it but you're right if they are weapons that were all built by man then Mermaid Princess powers were likely created similar to how DFs were and cycle over time through certain lineages.
