I don't understand how Gonron has more views on the Jump+ app than Nue, Elusive, or even SH or Haruzake. Baffling.

(I posted it in the Sunday Shonen thread I don't know why 😂 😭 )

Nue was a school exorcist series when western readers were getting sick of them, so despite finding its strengths and getting good early on with the Fujino arc most had already given up on it by then, and Elusive Samurai being a historic series also drives people away. Someone Hertz isn't the type of series most western Jump fans are looking for (this is a fanbase where a significant portion of it literally only reads battle series and nothing else, people still often use Shounen as a synonym for battle series).

Gonron might have awful art and terrible fights, but it's a dark fantasy adventure series so people will read it for the premise alone.

Mission: Yozakura Family Anime Season 2 Key Visual!

Anime PV, the opening will be "What's "KAZOKU"?" by the popular idol group Sakurazaka46, apparently the group first Anime opening ever!

It will broadcast on Spring 2026, same timeslot and anime block as Season 1 and Witch Watch, so almost sure is going to be another 2 cour

Shonen Jump most tweeted chapters of the week:

Otr managed to rank again, unfortunately i'm sure is because of the clearly "it's ending" development.

Oh shit I just realized

Right now in Nue we are seeing the past 13 centuries prior to the story...

And going back to chapter 64, we got to know that Kasha created the system through which level 4s are born... TWELVE centuries ago, just 100 years away from this current flashback-

Kota is subtly constructing a precise timeline of huge events little by little, holy shit.

The raws for Kotaro Yoshida's Kokugoku no Magamaga are available online now:

To be honest i was expecting something more creative from this one shot taking in count the description, art is fine but the content is just standard exorcist series, reminded me of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 1 quite much.

No hate or anything but I was active here like a year or two ago, and now coming back to see the lineup it seems much much more weaker than a yr or two ago or is it just me? Like I have no urge to read any of the new manga or others.

Well, alongside the current estabilished series, exactly 1 year ago there was still Yozakura, Undead, Syd Craft, Astro, Kill Blue & Chojo and 2 years ago there was still MHA, JJK, Dr. Stone, Cipher Academy & MMA, so yeah, current line up is objectively weaker, not counting Modulo since is a short one, Someone Hertz is the only new series we have as a new hit and pretty good series.

Hopefully things will get a lot more interesting this year with all the potential changes in the line up.

All the recent battle oneshots are very boring and basic, this one is not fun at all. Next week's also looks bad. I know you don't like I blame everything on Saito, but I have a feeling he simply has terrible taste in battle manga.

Well, it's not like we didn't have a overdose of exorcist series with Nakano :grin

Saito san can't say no to every oneshot. If he did, they wouldn't have anything to publish...

The problem is how they raise mangaka into becoming good scenarists too...

Have you seen the report manga made by Matsui sensei? (I think that's the name, I'm not good at names....) Editors just say things (like "It's boring/doesn't work" and "we should do X") and mangaka have to interpret these and think by themselves a way to solve the problems and it's often NOT doing what the editor wants. They have to do a high demanding cognitive PDCA process, without a lot of support.

So, it's no wonder that there are some problems that need to be solved here... The process of educating mangaka. A lot of pros on the internet say that mangaka are freelancers, so they have to educate themselves because it's a business partenership and editors are not teachers.... Well, maybe.

And there is the problem of oneshots with good reception that mangaka can't really turn into series. A shame, really.

But there is something to do there, so there is a way to solve the problem by taking actions like the classes, seminars and others that jump mangaka are taking. It won't be enough for somebody that isn't capable of solving problems by himself, but it's a start. They need explicit learning and more direction (IMHO). It's the same problem as a kid bad at maths: you can say "No, your answer is not right", if the kid can't do the cognitive process himself because he didn't learn how to, then he won't be able to solve the problem by himself. Need explicit learning, where you guide him step by step, vocalizing what you are doing and why, scaffolding, up to the point where he has integrated the cognitive process and can do it by himself. Same thing for adults learning new things they're not good at from the start (everybody is not a genius from the start and some are more suited than others for some tasks).

I think this probably happens because Jump editors must have like a f@cking ton of newbies trying to show their one shots for Jump editors every week + the failed newbies they're already taking care and trying to nurture + the serialized series they take care, so is probably just impossible for them to act too much like a "teacher" for simply a newbie trying to debut their first one shot in the magazine.
