And after freaking 19/20 days since the last ToC leaked on December 26 we're (hopefully) finally going back to normal this night! 🎉

My predictions:

-The Elusive Samurai will get the cover & lead color pages for its 5th anniversary.

-Color pages will be Hima-Ten! (It's been ages already lol) for volume release, Nue's Exorcist for arc popularity & The Mage Next Door for popularity or a one shot.

-Top 5 will be One Piece, Sakamoto Days, Witch Watch, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo & Shinobi Undercover

-Bottom 5 will be Otr of the Flame, Harukaze Mound, Gonron Egg, Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call It Quits & Hima-Ten!

Okay then, i might then wait a week to see any changes and all that. Thanks for the heads up, thought something might have been wrong on my account. Thank god it ain't that.
I had this happen yesterday searching for the weekly young jump thread, but thought maybe I was just putting in the details wrong 😭
It was a bug, is said to be fixed now 👍

Damn people were talking a lot comparing jjk to boruto for some reason on twitter (mostly saying it sells well) and in the end it had quite a underwhelming first week

It actually sold a bit less in physical:

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations #1 (183,413) - 4 Days
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo #1 (190,989) - 7 Days

Of course digital is way stronger right now than in 2016 so JJK Modulo actually sold more but that just goes to show how sequels of big battle shounens will always sell way less doesn't matter if the original author is writing, if is weekly instead of monthly and if has "great art".

Yeah… and tbh i don’t even think it was supposed to have this types of comparisons… if they wanted to compare so much to something it should’ve been naruto gaiden

but yeah sequels or spin offs will always sell less

lol but that would be a humiliation:

Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring (619,964) - 6 Days

Don't expect JJK fans / Boruto haters to do that :XD

Hertz outselling two thirds of the still running post 2022 successes in its first week alone is damn impressive

Gotta update the rankings of best selling 1st volume in a week and etc, but yeah, great start for Someone Hertz specially taking in count how shortage of stock affected the performance 👍

Weekly Oricon Top 50 (1/5/26 - 1/11/26)
26. Shinobi Undercover #6 (14,606)
33. Hima-Ten! #7 (12,936)
lol only 1,671 copies separating them but the difference in treatment for Hima-Ten compared to Shinobi Undercover is this drastic, like night and day, editorial bias is really strong with Saito -_-;

No doubt that Shinobi Undercover must receive more survey votes than Hima-Ten but that doesn't explain Shinobi suddenly being treated as same tier as the flagship series and pushed as the next big thing while Hima-ten hasn't gotten a single color page in over 10 chapters :grin

Lol so my very 1st initial guess of Modulo selling 200k ish was actually more accurate. A lot of people here thinking it would do 400k to 500k a month so I raised my expectations along.

I think the much lower sales is because people just want their old cast not the ones from 68 years later. A significant portion of fanbase actually has been saying they actually do not give AF about the modulo casts, they are reading just waiting for yuji to shows up or if their favorite og cast will get cameo.

Hypothetically, say after Modulo gege does jjk again: if it is direct continuation with original main cast plus gege art and gege story, will sales be on par with og jjk? And the volume is jjk#31

Basically what happened with Kinnikuman, i guess it would sell on par if it was a direct continuation to the original final chapter and Gege doing everything lol

btw is it too early for a Roboco cover? Feels like forever since the last one

non zero chance of a kagurabachi color/cover with the volume release too, it's always gotten something and this is probably the longest window hokazono has to recover to do one lol

My very late New Years confession:
For the last few months of last year reading Shonen Jump had become somewhat of a chore.😅

So I’m hoping that I can reignite my joy of reading Shonen Jump this year.🙂
--- Double Post Merged, ---

Also a few days ago I was looking at the Ruri Dragon anime announcement post again and I remembered a thought I had last year, about how I wanted Kyoto Animation to adapt Akane-banishi.

JJK, KGB, and Hertz all sold great! The latter is especially very impressive. I couldn’t get into Hertz personally but I always like when new manga become hits

This means Modulo is no threat to top Oricon year-end 2026
