Yusei Matsui author comment for this week The Elusive Samurai chapter:

"My deepest gratitude to everyone who filled out the questionnaire votes. Your support alone is what determines the lifespan of this work."

Notice how Matsui didn't thank who bought the volume copies but who sent the survey votes? :teehee

I knew the promotion was really big and a lot of people were talking about, even a professional olympic snowboarder said he liked boruto... but i actually didn't think it would manage to get all the volumes in shoseki, that's really crazy

I would like to hear more about your author predictions, please.
I think with Numa and Chojo if it gets high reception with the anime, we might see him again.

Others I think will come back from 2018 to 2024 are:

-Masayoshi Satosho
-Takahide Totsuno
-Natsuki Hokami
-Shinpei Watanabe
-Daisuke Enoshima
-Omusuke Kobayashi

Those are my personal picks but I’m willing to see who else there is.

Completely forgot to post about Kinato's Magic J+ Views, after 2 days and 12 hours it has nearly 108k views:

Under Doctor after 1 week and 1 day and 12 hours has reached 145k

Kinato is on par with Under Doctor & Someone Hertz numbers within 24 hours and Under Doctor is also on par with SH numbers after a week (153k), so both series are doing pretty fine on J+, definitely not dead like the former round. in fact Under Doctor ch1 in just a week has more views than Gonron, Osoegawa & JK Hero 1st chapter after months of release lol

Since is probably that TES is ending next week

The Elusive Samurai Stadistics in Weekly Shonen Jump (2021-2026)

5 Years

11 Covers
10 LCPs
22 CPs
238/244 issues (97.54%)
Average ToC ranking: 10.48 (Until Chapter 236)
48th Longest Series in Weekly Shonen Jump History

5 000 000 copies in circulation (23 Vols)

That first and last cover is amazing, look at how far Tokiyuki went! A very rare feat of having a Shounen MC actually age lol. I mean, it HAD to happen in TES because it covers real history but still.

I know TES is not the most popular series here (or anywhere for that matter, really), but i really really liked it. I think i liked it better than AssClass overall, though AssClass had (so far) the more emotional ending - but TES's ending has been pretty nice too, and I think it's final arc as a whole was also better than AssClass's imo. I also liked TES's characters more, AssClass's main characters were very good but the supporting cast was mainly just "you have a mini arc and then you're irrelevant" so that there could be a full class of students. TES's main cast was very good, I'd say on par with AssClass, but it's supporting cast was much better imo and stayed relevant till the end and even the ones who didn't make it and who died before the end such as Tadayoshi, Akiie, Yoshitsune and Sadamune, were much more impactful and memorable. TES also has Takauji who's a far better main villain than...uhhh...I can barely even remember the main villain in AssClass, the cloak dude? Yeah...

Matsui is legit one of the best Shounen writers in the game imo, I'd say he's kinda underrated tbh. Part of that is probably his art style which doesn't resonate with everyone, but I like it. But I also tend to skew more towards liking "weird" or more "unique" art styles than most, I think.

I assume he's not done here and he'll have another series too, so i'm greatly looking forward to it.

It’s going to be pretty sad but a great hurrah for Matsui. Let’s give it up for him to do another hit and a possible final work in Jump.
TBH, I'm perfectly happy with Matsui just retiring from the magazine, especially since he had a legendary run with Neuro, AssClass & finally, EluSam.
You don't see much authors with a track record as good as Matsui in Jump.

I think with Numa and Chojo if it gets high reception with the anime, we might see him again.

Others I think will come back from 2018 to 2024 are:

-Masayoshi Satosho
-Takahide Totsuno

-Daisuke Enoshima
-Omusuke Kobayashi

I already predicted Amemiya's return, but my other picks are:
Returnees:
- Yoshihiko Hayashi (MamaYuyu)
- Tadaichi Nakama (Tokyo Demon Bride Story)
- Omosuke Kobayashi (Psych House)
- Kei Kamiki (Magu-chan)

Rookies:
- Shirokuma Shirosaki (Sezaki-san)
- Kuji Tabigoro (Canvas Terra, Kemono Kuru)
- Izumi Hakase (Signal All Red)
- Tarō Kaneko (Demon on a Plate, Warped Fairy Tale), probably unlikely due to him currently assisting Amemiya's new series
- Kento Sako (Naraka)
- Taisei Tsujita (Kage no Zainin, Naraku no Ko)
- Natsuki Osonoe (Tate Roll)
- Danjō (Ghost Workaholic)
- Kazuhiko Okawa (God of Resurrection Hanzaki)
- Ryosuke Momota (Cyborg 0-ban)
- Sho Fukamori (Zanki)

Matsui wrote one of the best final arcs this magazine has had and I'm extremely sad it won't be appreciated as it deserves. And this is his second time and arguably, his better rendition of an emotional final climax. I love Assassination Classroom and it will always be special to me but he really did one up with Elusive Samurai's finale. It's so so so brilliant.

I wanna go through the rookies more to get a better sense but in terms of returning authors, the ones I think are more likely to come back are:
- Yoshihiko Hayashi (MamaYuyu)
- Tadaichi Nakama (Tokyo Demon Bride Story)
- Kazu Kakazu (Our Blood Oath)
- Masayoshi Satoshou (Momiji no Kisetsu)

And my bizarre, random throw ins that will never happen but how funny would it be if it did:
- Yuuji Kimura (U19)
- Koyoharu Gotouge (Demon Slayer)
- Atsushi Nakamura (Agravity Boys)

What having or not competition has to do with putting backlog in the top 500? This is happening because the series has gone viral on jp social media in the last 2 days.
