#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

My problem isn’t just “shinobi is getting over pushed”. My problem is when we get a week like this where it’s just back to back color pages, and then there’s only 2 color pages next issue. It’s less that they’re overpushing shinobi, and it’s more like they treat it like one of the only series in the mag. Like we can’t get more roboco, nue, Akane, or even like now hertz, color pages? It’s genuinely that it’s a new week, a color page for blue box, modulo or ichi, and then always shinobi. I want variety at this point, it’s never ending. I can’t even escape it on an off week cause they get thrown into back to back now.

But I think the issue is that I think Shinobi's growth makes the push worthwhile (it doesn't cost Jump anything to put it on colors after all) and you think that it's not enough. Those are both valid takes imo, I can't really prove that Shinobi's growth is enough to be actually profitable, but 2K sales are signifigant in the modern industry, and if all Jump needs to do is stamp it next to Kagurabachi and Ichi to get more money, they will! They're businessmen. I obviously don't think that Shinobi is a KGB/Ichi level hit!

I think it's important to consider the opportunity cost of promoting Shinobi over other series when evaluating if pushing the series is worth it.

While it technically doesn't cost anything, is pushing Shinobi the best thing Shueisha can do using the KGB/Ichi duo's popularity? Is giving two consecutive color pages to Shinobi the best possible use of color pages in the magazine?

When looking at the results of this huge push, a 5k increase for a single series with close to no merch, I personally don't think the answer to these questions is a definitive yes, the benefit of pushing Shinobi this much looks pretty weak to me

You're still posting your specific reaction and hence making it guessable what happens. If you really don't have the self control to avoid talking about the leaks, at least put it completely under a full spoiler heading instead of in-line ones over only part of it.

It hasn't been too bad here yet, but there's always going to be people who don't bother to put the spoiler bar on and just openly post the leaks in response to someone else. Bleach and Jujutsu Kaisen were absolutely horrendous for this, you used to see unmarked spoilers for those showing up in random youtube comments and such on totally unrelated videos.

Though I think there should be a fully separate leaked spoilers topic, there people who want to discuss them can do so all they want without cluttering the ToC topic with leak discussions.

lol no, you definitely will not guess what i mean if you don't click in the spoiler part, i'm not even talking about something in specific that happened in the chapter, the comment about Someone Hertz was technically more of a spoiler but that is something literally in the preview page for next issue so that's on Shonen Jump itself

200 pages already. I guess Kiyoshi Otr Shinobi discussions always do the trick.

Not a bad week. Blue Box made it into the top 5, that's rare. Modulo is acting like it got axed, cramming what could've been three arcs of content into one chapter. Gonron and probably Mage are wrapping up too, the jury's still out on Hero Girl but it wouldn't surprise me (though I hope I'm wrong on this one).

The three new series are doing okay, but none of them could really keep up the momentum from the first chapter (hard to do, I know). I hope they can still find their footing, but I very much doubt this will be a rare 3/3 batch.

Shinobi: Imaginary OP is too self-aware. I still love their interactions. The new guy is... special. For a moment I wondered if Yodaka is good at picking locks, but then I remembered who he is.

WW: Called it. But at least one of their plans worked.

Ichi: Called that, too. If those two work together, they're going to be downright invincible.

BB: That was sweet. I'm glad they're being proactive. I've never seen a theme park with so many lights, but apparently it's a thing in Japan.

Kiyoshi: Another supersaiyan, this one expected. Poor newbie picked the wrong enemy. And the other guy is patching up flying demon sharks now, because manifesting race cars got boring apparently.

Mage: Now this is getting good? We're finally seeing more creative magic, and he's showing a stronger personality too (the shirts are a nice touch). I'm still afraid it's too late, though it's not as obvious as with Gonron Egg.

Alien: The new guy seems cool. The story is still interesting too (nice move). I do wonder how several kinds of aliens came falling from the sky all at once though.

Hero: That was random, but cute. They are so ending up together

Dr: Convenient. I guess a mute character would take too much work if he's sticking around? I did like the chapter, I'm glad things are moving at a decent speed (though it's time to wrap up this case now).

KGB: I did wonder what happened to him.

Kinato: That classism is so cliche. The story is okay, but there were a few scenes where I couldn't immediately tell what was happening (like when she was failing to draw her sword). Glad to see their relationship developing.

Gonron: Did she grow bigger? The proportions are weird in this one. The new location looks cool though.

Modulo: Did they just resolve 7 plotlines in 5 pages?

I could be way wrong… but isn’t Maru’s plan like a… eugenics?

Sure is. And a rather extreme case of it, too, since he is planning to modify every human soul in existence so no unwanted babies can be born ever again.

16. Under Doctor: I m starting to see the problems that you often talk about, expecially the fact that it is more text heavy than it should be (which is quite a feat for a chapter centering around a character who can't talk). Was it necessary to use a page to tell us why he can move his hands while being strangled? People in manga do it all the time. The final page is typical Kenshiro, but despite all this I still think that the series can raise up again if it lands the right chapter.

They're telling us why the other guy can't use his hands while he's strangling someone... which is even more unnecessary, because DUH. They could've cut all the text from that page and it would've been far stronger.

Then again, the pages before and after have barely any text at all, so it's not like this text overload is a constant problem. It just shows up in weird places.

I know they all were just together in the funny spirit place to hold hands and sing together but idk if that’s gonna cure Yuka’s cancer even if Cross makes it out the hospital haha

It's already cured, isn't it?

Or at least that's what it looked like when Malu casually lit up everyone's injuries on page 14.

So, after 3 chapters released from the 3 new series, which of these are your favorite so far and that you think has the most potential to be successul on Shonen Jump?

What I think has the most potential to be successul on Shonen Jump:

If all they cared about was pure sales we would still have series like 6P, KB, Ichinose, Cipher and Astro instead of Kiyoshi.

Ichinose lost 20k copies from vol 1 to vol 2 and ToC rankings collapsed as fast as chapter 20-something, also japanese readers hated the series with a passion, so Ichinose didn't really had anything going on for it besides Takopi big popularity, pretty much the only reason it still reached 50ch lol

The thing I learn from the death of P6, Ichinose and Astro is that you shouldnt write a story with a main cast bigger than 3 in WSJ

Notes that were interesting to me:

• Akane has gotten the most promotion out of any series
• Besides the obvious of One Piece, Ichi got the next most lead color pages at 6 in the last full year
• The most regular color pages went Akane at 12; a close second to Shinobi at 11
• JJK Modulo got some sort of color page for 40% of its run up to this point, to go higher as it concludes
• Despite selling and promoting around the same, Hima-ten! has about half as many color pages as Kyoshi and Shinobi
• Kill Blue got more "promotion" than The Elusive Samurai over the last year
• Harukaze got 3 regular color pages and still survived one round lol

Well, Jujutsu Kaisen too, but i don't see anyone ever bringing that lol but anyway, you're talking about series that died having more than 3 main characters as something like a curse, and Yozakura had 3x times that and succeeded
