Do you ever worry you'll be too old for anime and manga?
I work at a movie theater and the amount of older people who come, without kids or grand kids or great grandkids, to see the anime movies (and also the K-pop music groups too) is much higher than people would realize. Good stories are ageless, just like legos for people 4 to 99

I'm already on the older side and watch and read more than ever before because I got more open to trying anything, no matter genre, demographics, style, etc.

What is the illness this guy has? He took over a month to publish a 19p chapter and now he will take almost 2 months to publish the next?

Wth happened in these 6 first weeks of serialization that f@cked him for life?
It can be a permanent one or one that destroyed his body like the author of No Game No Life that if he work "too much" he ended up in a hospital for a few weeks or more and had different complications. With the anime we will see more thing like this heppend.

He got something in these 6 first weeks he published Ruri Dragon, Shonen Jump wouldn't start publishing a newbie that they know has some form of illness or condition, but this is like a breaking record, i never saw any case of a author that got permanently sick or damaged his body physically by publishing for 5/6 weeks, even Togashi took a while to start taking just few 1 week breaks here and there, Shindo went nearly 2 years in hiatus after just 6 chapters lol

How would things be different if Wanted got serialized instead of One Piece?

You don't see Wanted being the megahit One Piece is?
Megahit? I don't see even surviving 1/2 rounds, there's a reason why western shounen mangas haven't been successful since the 70's, Watsuki tried in 2000 after Kenshin and failed miserably despite looking more interesting than Wanted.

I tried reading the chapters in ToC order for once.

Votes:
1) Kiyoshi
2) WW
3) OP
4) KGB
5) Hero

Alien
Shinobi
Akane
Mage
Dr
Ichi
Nue
BB
Hima
Modulo
Gonron
Kinato
Sakamoto
SH
Roboco

OP: I forgot half these people were there. Those two haven't changed... It would've been a pretty fitting conclusion for them.

SH: I spotted 5 differences.

Sakamoto: At this rate, we're here for another five years.

Ichi: She's not even remotely ready to give up her position as the GOAT.

Roboco: ... That's one way to congratulate somebody.

Shinobi: I'm starting to understand why his family didn't want him around. That page were he finally jumps into action is cool.

KGB: It's weird how he looks exactly like Chihiro and also not. Very interesting, I hope the sushi chef will be all right.

Alien: Congratulations, now go to the hospital. The story is actually good when it focusses on adventuring rather than just fighting.

BB: Why tf would you say that to his girlfriend? While she's working?? He's lucky she didn't 'accidently' tip the bowl in his lap.

Modulo: This feels more like a set-up for the next series than an ending.

Dr: Yep, that was to be expected. Well, it won't hurt the kid, even if he only wants a cook.

WW: Nah, any of them would've done that. High time to get those two to talk to each other. Tense chapter.

Kinato: Why are all the women in this so overbearing? (Well, the men too, I guess...) The story is fun though, and I like the variation in locations.

Akane: Speaking of overbearing, lady... So she's up to improvise? Bold. But won't dragging another unprepared person into it make things harder instead?

Hima: She seems to be doing pretty well.

Nue: How poetic. I wonder if all Nue's contractors had light hair with a dark spot in it? His new hairstyle is, um, special.

Kiyoshi: Ooh, nice move! And strong too? He really is their secret weapon.

Hero: "... about HIM." *skips to image of the guy's back with leaves floating around like sakura petals* Is this a love story? It reads like a love story. I'm glad the manga is giving us some real plot for once, but I'm afraid it might just mean the series is wrapping up.

Mage: Well, that explains why there aren't more people that use multiple kinds of magic... but really, you're getting rid of the MC's main selling point just like that? The girl in the beginning is cute, the guy reminds me of Sakamoto Days and is annoying. This feels like a final arc, but not like it'd be ending in 2-3 chapters.

Gonron: No! Vampire guy! Why'd she take off her armor though? It looks like things will get worse before they get better, but at least we will probably get to see what's inside the egg!

Why are you so convinced it had something to do with the publication? Maybe the guy just found out he had cancer two weeks in and has to return to therapy regularly. Not every illness has to do with work.

Because it's pretty obvious? He worked for months in the pre-serialization, started, and went until chapter 4 just fine, after publishing the 5th chapter he had to take a break, published chapter 6 and went into nearly 2 years of hiatus after that, came back and went from weekly to bi-weekly but now he's taking 1 or even 2 month hiatus after just publishing a 19p chapter after already taking a month before, something happened between the 4th ~ 6th chapters.

And we know something suddenly went wrong because Shindo actually did a Ruri illustration for the group cover illustration in the issue #36-37 but he was forced to go in hiatus after issue #34.

How does that prove it wasn't cancer? He found out after the beginning of the serialization, finished the chapters he had already prepared, went on hiatus for two years to undergo therapy and is now taking regular breaks because he gets tired more easily and/or because he needs more therapy every time the cancer threatens to come back.

I fail to see why the illness needs to have been caused by his work. Especially since most new series start with a backlog of 3-5 chapters, so those first 4 were probably mostly done by the time publication started. If he already had trouble drawing back then, I doubt they'd have published the series in WSJ.

Didn't post somehow but good issue this week. I'm liking Under Doctor a lot and I would love to see it survive, and the bottom duo of Mage/Hero are so promising if they pivot rn but it's looking over :(

Kiyoshi meanwhile dropped such a good junk food chapter but man I love it, easy sucker for this kinda shit.

Anyway issue votes

1) Ichi the Witch
2) Modulo
3) Kiyoshi
4) Under Doctor
5) Nue

I saw a lot of people in their 70s proudly wearing anime t shirts and carrying itabag.

I worry more about dying before watching and reading the things i want to do, if i make a list of stuff that i haven't watched despite watching & reading AniManga since 2007 people would be shocked, starting with stuff like Steins;Gate, Neon Genesis Evangelion & Cowboy Bebop :sweatdrop

It was about the post above of the background animator leaking him working on Kagurabachi anime

How i will prove that the guy doesn't have cancer when cancer is just a personal assumption from you? lol

So only on september????
The time of the announcement doesn't make the anime release sooner or later. Jump decides to announce whenever they see fit. For Hokazono who can barely do anything but a weekly chapter, it sucks but makes sense

Either that or somewhere between March-April. The next volume is in May and that's a pretty substantial gap from the last volume.
Quite a wrong movement from WSJ. Even more so if you think Kill Blue and Chojo will have anime by this year.
