@Ray Barracuda and @Strange and some others have been saying for a long time that SIU doesn’t treat the Family Heads with the level of respect they’re supposed to have, and honestly, it’s hard not to see that now. With this arc the record of FH/FH+ tier characters relevant on a floor has been broken:
S3 final arc: Urek, Traumerei, Gustang, V.
Spin-off 2nd Floor Test: Urek, Eduan, Mago, Aubryon.
The current one: Urek, Aubryon, Eduan, Latour, Shin, the PT.
I think theres a misunderstanding about the Family Heads. They aren't untouchable gods, that was the whole point of Gustang versus Traumerei. I don't think SIU is actually trying to portray them as weak but that hes finally now having them fight other irregulars.@Ray Barracuda and @Strange and some others have been saying for a long time that SIU doesn’t treat the Family Heads with the level of respect they’re supposed to have, and honestly, it’s hard not to see that now.
Even if they aren't as strong as prime Shines or Axis. These characters were built up for years as near-untouchable figures, so naturally, fans expected a certain level of weight and seriousness whenever they appeared. Instead, it keeps feeling like that impact gets diluted.
At this point, it’s not even surprising anymore. If this trend continues, the next Family Head appearance will be another joke or goofy.
Just a little bit of respect gives a lot to talk.
Traumerei himself had comedy scenes like with Lillial. You could even argue Shins nonchalance is a testament to her strength.SIU is writing characters not people who are supposed to be badass all the time. We have Urek himself, who is stronger than them and has been the butt of jokes countless times.
I think people wrote themselves a lot of headcanon based on the blog posts and don't know how to let go. It's even worse over on Reddit. People acting like an author's sketch of an idea from 15 years ago is some kind of bible. This fandom never ceases to amaze me.
SiU tells people over and over again that FH's are powerful humans not gods with the idea that FH's are still humans no matter powerful they are and people will still act surprised when SiU does it again.
Same thing with blogposts. The things were disavowed ages ago and people still get amazed by this and talk about stuff like Three Lords![]()
Reddit is acting like the blog posts were full of a lot more info than they were. Based on the blog posts we actually knew more about Adori than we did the FH.I think people wrote themselves a lot of headcanon based on the blog posts and don't know how to let go. Within Tower, they were portrayed as NEAR untouchable figures, not gods, but that doesn't mean that, like admin, Urek, and others can't do shit to them.I think theres a misunderstanding about the Family Heads. Yeah, true. That’s probably the one thing SIU stays consistent with. Even Urek, who’s supposed to be above them, gets turned into a joke sometimes.SIU is writing characters not people who are supposed to be badass all the time. We have Urek himself, who is stronger than them and has been the butt of jokes countless times.
That doesn't need to be retconned , siu simply can say "Urek was just lazy and that\s all " urek could fly even before he knew what shinsoo is and how to use that so there is no need to retcon and urek never have said i cannot fly without shinsooThe only true retcon I can think of is that Urek should have been able to fly in the floor of death.
It’s a good think that the blog posts are dead tho.I think people wrote themselves a lot of headcanon based on the blog posts and don't know how to let go. It's even worse over on Reddit. People acting like an author's sketch of an idea from 15 years ago is some kind of bible.
I think this ignores the simple fact that blog posts were a good part of the reason people got interested in the story even before tog was picked up by it's current publisher. You could pick up the story and look up all the stuff which SIU set up ages ago. Characters from the old blog posts and lore appearing was always pretty rewarding. Thanks to blog post stuff like the hell train, hidden floor or garam's appearance was pretty exciting when introduced(even if execution at times dragged on). Conversely the apparent changes to the lore seem almost consistently to be letdowns. Ari han went from being a powerful needle user with some connection to hon to a goth elf or something. Who is also not a progenitor to the ha family. Granted she could still be a powerful needle user (though to me it's not obvious how someone with a needle shinsoo attribute would attract lightning). The discarded bayroad lore I'd argue was more interesting than what we got considering it was downgrade to the cage which in turn was blown up halfway through the nest war. This also resulted in imort being scrapped or reworked. Gustang went from defensive wave controller to.... whatever the fuck he is supposed to be.It’s a good think that the blog posts are dead tho.
the dude doesn’t need to be shackled by ideas written down as drafts years ago.
this is new territory and I’m glad he doesn’t have to stick to drafts.

I agree that it's the one thing I really didn't like about Adori but nothing can beat your imagination.I think the issue is simply that the version of characters existing in BP are superior in idea than what we got. Adori being that strong without being connected to any 10 great family made her more special and unique.
I think yall are taking it the wrong way. They are goofy to actual gods like Shinies and a much bigger example a Axis like Urek. Phanta was so op high rankers lost their minds seeing him fight. While the Shinies lost they faught Phanta and retained their sense of self that says a lot about them at full power. To tower born outside of revolution family heads can fight them sitting down and no diff them. Plus with family heads there was always the issue of Admins being above them. A issue that does not effect Urek, Shinies, Phanta who all have potential to be stronger and progress the story. Family heads were always going to hurt the story scaling if presented as gods the whole time since they fear Admins and Admins aren't even gods.@Ray Barracuda and @Strange and some others have been saying for a long time that SIU doesn’t treat the Family Heads with the level of respect they’re supposed to have, and honestly, it’s hard not to see that now.

i have reinterpreted this moment as Gustang saying "You've had the power to end all of us assholes and open the way up all this time, why are you just fucking around playing spy games with your misfit gang instead of getting to work?"I don't know about that. Gustang talking shit to Urek in the Floor of Death, likes of " you play little games with your organisation", doesn't make me believe that they acknowledged him for the things he had done, based off your hypothesis on the way things had gone.
I mean, each to their own, but I disagree. It's not a disappointment. He has deviated far too much in his writing to ever go back. I accept deviations from your goal in a long-running story; even ODA does it, but he never strayed from his path. SIU, in the name of introducing something cool or appeasing a specific fanbase due to their popularity, completely changed the narrative for the essence of the main story. One Piece is running longer than Tower of God, and I've never seen these issues with Oda. When you're giving blog post information while sitting in his nice chair in a cafe packed with fans, you have to keep it. You can deviate from the plan, but the final goal must land and stick. This is essentially the main issue, and it explains why the quality of Tower of God has declined significantly.Idk, but i think this is just a slight disappointment. It’s too much to just outright bash SIU cause of something this minimal.
Ngl, story went downhill from S3 when Yama's background was changed. From Yama to Yirang, Arie Adori, Axis, Shinies, Baek's light, and Shin. Many things changed and will despairly continue to change.Blog posts was 99% of the enormous lore behind ToG. It is also the bulk of its popularity and the main thing that drives the diehard loyal fans (like myself). Scraping the blogpost entirely kills the lore for me. Im ngl, I use to be the type to recommend tog but that feeling has died hard.
