WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP THREAD RULES​

#5. Don't post news about series from other magazine or publishers in the WSJ thread, post in the series own thread, but it's fine if you're mentioning other series or magazine to express a opinion or reflection about Shonen Jump.
#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

I feel like you guys are misinterpreting what Aniking teased, its not about the thing in question being bigger than HxH itself but that the news its much bigger and impactful than HxH returning just for another 10 chapters and disappearing again

So far, Saito's strategy as an EIC is to just bring back old successful authors to recreate past success instead of developing new talents. He's slowly shaping the magazine into another WSM.

Yeah, Hima-Ten 100% ending next week and i can only say: See Naoshi, isn't that hard to do that in your manga!

Himaten already getting rightfully ripped to shreds online. Gonna be remembered as one of the worst romcom endings ever by the west lol.

Every two years Togashi comes back, releases 10 chapters, release a volume to pay his bills and go to play Dragon Quest again. Not exactly big news at this point

Btw, isn't insane that Ruri Dragon is 4 years old and not even 50 chapters yet? technically it just about to reach 1 year worth of content when it would be reaching 200 chapters by now if Shindo was fine.

Cannon Master, well, it's definitely a Shonen Jump manga lol

Reiya Machida art looks pretty good for a newbie, improved a lot from his one shots. Some minor spoilers, not going to spoil the climax:

1st ch isn't adventure, a mix of training with a bigger threat appearing in the middle, i know it doesn't sound much exciting so wait to read, but it's basically the older guy is a demonic statue destroyer that protects this village, the kid is his student, a orphan he founds after a war ended, the creatures looks pretty cool, like Ryo said it looks like something out of Yu-Gi-Oh, the abilities are flute based, they look nice and the kid has super strenght.

Hard to know how this will be received, it's pretty much a Jump manga with a more different setting and good art.

I know you said it’s hard to tell but did you like it and if you had to bet do you think it’d be successful?

I prefer to wait and properly read it translated before saying anything, i feel like this is the kind of manga that needs that before juding it.

Assuming it goes for the Honoka end I think Himaten's ending is fine, just extremely shounen.

Honoka's had the least development of the 3 girls but MC liked her first and that's what matters the most. No twists, just plain and simple MC likes this one girl then gets together with her regardless of what else happened.

We've been totally spoiled after WNL giving each girl their own end route, if another Jump romcom manga did that it would feel like blatant copying but it was the most satisfying way to conclude things.

I've got thoughts on everything of course but there's no point posting anything in-depth until it's actually done.

I've been wondering if we will get a Kill Blue Season 2 announcement next week. I thought the anime would at least go till chapter 53 where the "2nd part" starts, but there's one more episode and we didn't even reach volume 5 yet.

Hope they stick with Kill Blue and make 3 seasons

i hope so too, i'm watching it on Netflix and I'm finding it very entertaining. I remember that when I were lurking here, there was always a member hating on it, but in the end, I didn't think it was bad, lol.
Curious to see where the story goes.

The worst problem with this is that it is not something new from old authors. We all agree we want old authors back, but they should follow Matsui's route of every series being unique than Series X - Part 2.

Do you think Ruri Dragon will span that many chapters? If so, we will be getting chapters for over 10 years if the schedule keeps like that. Haha

I’m not a fan of Saito but I think saito’s only vet he pestered to come back was Sorachi. To be honest, the biggest issue of Saito is managing his editor team and advertising current series. Development falls on the editors and it’s Jumps biggest problem right now.

There have been a few series now that had something to them but just weren’t fleshed out or advised the right way. Some are extremely boring after the first chapter like Harukaze mound. Some needed better advice like Kawaguchi and Otr (a shota MC with weird hair and a training arc on chapter 3 when that was the 2 biggest complaints with red hood?????). Some needed more time to develop like Gonron’s author.

Even editors for successful series have been slacking: UD feels aimless to a lot of us, SD has been disappointing in its final arc, I’m not a big Nue fan but it’s support from editorial blows (more of a Saito thing), akanes anime advertising has sucked (again Saito complaint), Kill Blue’s second half of the series plot etc.

Bleach is most def bigger than HxH imo. More worldwide renown ("big 3"), more sales, more video games, more merch, more spin offs, more everything.

This doesn't mean Bleach is BETTER of course. I think most people consider HxH to be better. But to think it's not bigger than HxH....I don't think so.
