#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

Is that what you meant by knowing something about a different series? Thats wild then, it still feels like it has over a volume left in the tank. Plus, Bleach returning before the anime finishes airing just feels wrong.
No, that one is about a anime

Dang, anime? I'd assume Nue, right? It feels too early for anything of the 2024 series, lol. (Besides a himaten anime alongside the ending, like Kill Blue) But thanks for clarifying.

This is the manga industry version of an anime / videogame / movie remake. The entire entertainment industry is creatively bankrupt right now.

You mean the name of the former EiC or the successful series under their belt?
Well, I did just initially want the list of the names of the former EICs, but now I'm also interested in the successful series under their belts :p If it's not too much trouble ofc.

I'm all for new works from these authors, series like Ichi are bringing new worlds and stories. I would be happy to see a new Tite Kubo manga! But going back to an old finished work goes against the idea of nurturing new talent and appealing to new fans, this stuff should be on their other magazines. It would be very disappointing to see a line up full of things like MHA sequels, Demon Slayer prequel, etc.

And while they have a leg ahead because of their fame, they're still fighting in more equal standing. Like it or not, Bleach may decline 90% of what it used to do, but it will do well enough to take a slot away from a newbie that will get axed or not have their shot like Kubo did in the past.

It's rare for Jump to do publish sequels or spin-offs and I think it was a mistake when they did this before as well. At least Modulo was a short series and was used to promote a brand new manga, but needing Bleach to bail them is too creatively bankrupt to me.

All the GFC winners are locked in the Dragon Ball Hyperbolic Time Chamber or something.
I am happy to see Bleach back but I don't entirely disagree with this. WSJ putting sequels for their old hits in the main magazine truly does feel like a 'washed' moment. That's the kind of stuff the other shonen magazines love doing. Just filling them with sequels and spinoffs while Jump put that stuff in other Shueisha magazines. We'd been talking about how Jump as a relevant brand feels like it has dropped significantly in the past few years as their mega hits ended and none of the new ones could take over but this does feel like cementing it

Thank you! Idk why but for some reason I expected it to be like...a document or something rather than it literally being text :p

Anyway, I was mainly curious on the EIC's pre Heishi, since I have basically no knowledge of that (Heishi's era was when I started following WSJ properly). Hisashi Sasaki's era seems an outlier in modern day (not counting Toshimasa Takahashi's for obvious reasons) in that there wasn't too many hits, though he was there for a shorter time, And also, I guess he didn't NEED to have many hits since man of the hits from the previous eras were still going.

Also this list has given me some new series to add to my PTR list lol, especially older series. Also it always makes me lowkey laugh that Bleach and Ichigo 100% released around the same time. Anyway. Thanks again!

Yall got to relax, Modulo and likely the TPN chapter are not much different than Dr. STONEs side story that Nakano ok’d. Nakano also probably gave the ok on the Bleach future run back when the one shot happened. The magazine will always be about the current series (the bigger problem has been Saito’s marketing and his editors not having a pulse on what JP audiences want as well as not putting exciting material out). Having kubo back is good, young artists will be assistants and learn from him and editors will too.

They even had a crossover cover to celebrate their OVA for the "Jump Super Anime Tour 2004" before their TV anime broadcast:

Also, it helps to see what was published at the time and feel how each EiC made their decisions that was reflected of the magazine at the time.

There was also Eyeshield 21 Brain x Brave one shot in 2024.

I don't know why we're pretending Jump has been alien to sequels or old hits being back in one shot or short serializations, that has happened for decades, we literally had Araki running 7 Jojo parts on WSJ with Stone Ocean & Steel Ball Run being even their own separated entries.

MHA doesn't need any sequels anyway. The main manga ended very satisfyingly

And didn't Boruto run in WSJ for a fucking THREE years too lol. People are being so overdramatic over Bleach. Bleach Hell Arc has been anticipated for YEARS.

Also, I am OOTL. That guy was the 1st who leaked Bleach Hell Arc returning? My very first source was actually a Japanese tweet with millions of view lol.

That’s true, and a very good reason to bring back Kubo. As for Saito, I kinda have to disagree because I love the series he is putting out there. Sure there are some flaws with some of the series, but at least there was variety and a greater focus on newer artists or failed artists who are getting a second chance that really are showing potential.

I will say yes, Saito does have some problems with him trying to lead a bit. The only time I “really” got upset was Chojo’s cancellation. Other than that, I think he is okay, but the real test will begin when 4-5 of Jumps established or hit titles will conclude and then we have to worry. Now aside from a couple of editors that are captains that have been in Jump since 2011 and 2012, a lot of the younger editors date back to 2018, so some are really trying to make a name for themselves as well as work on not just new hits, but need to excel at different genres, as well as marketing, product tie ins and making them grow to become established franchises.

Btw, i wouldn't be surprised at all if Furudate starts a sequel of Haikyu on WSJ in the future, he still very much engaged with the series and drawing Hinata & others as adults in illustrations and it still a very hot topic in Japan, he's also one of the healthiest authors, could handle a weekly serialization just fine.

I don't know why we're pretending Jump has been alien to sequels or old hits being back in one shot or short serializations, that has happened for decades, we literally had Araki running 7 Jojo parts on WSJ with Stone Ocean & Steel Ball Run being even their own separated entries.
Because there were 10 years gaps between series, right? It's such a disingenuous comparison even you know it's different from usual. And people mentioned other examples before, doesn't mean they were good ideas.

And here it is. lol Now people will just beg for endless sequels because we surely don't have enough remakes and sequels everywhere and even this magazine has to be nostalgia pandering.
