When Kishimoto drew Naruto with more realistic features they were more eastern, so I personally hope for the opposite, I mean no one in real life has pink hair like Sakura, the hair and eye colors are just a way to help make the characters stand out and look distinctive.

Since I am child I always dream to see Naruto being played by Western Actors. Even if they are ninja Naruto has always been international. for example Killer Bee is clearly Afro-American or Tsunade clearly Russian with her breast size and so on...

i hate the fact that there is all this sceptism about Western live action... Cmon when you talk about it most people give it already as a fact that needs to be bad as movie.

ToC analysis:

One Piece with the cover & lead cp for the 29th anniversary, next year will be both One Piece 30th anniversary & Shonen Jump 60th anniversary, so Jump will probably go pretty hard with the advertisements, i think we can expect a abnormal number of covers for One Piece and magazine celebrations. Btw, curious to see the chaos that this issue with the special card will cause LMAO!

Sakamoto Days in 1st place after a lower week last issue, it hasn't happened since last year issue #36-37, a nice surprise considering how dominant Ichi & Someone Hertz have been this year. And talking about Ichi, that's the lowest placement for the series since issue #12 and it's quite hilarious that a nearly 2 years old series getting a 5th place is considered a surprisingly lower placement kkkk

Shinobi Undercover returned to the upper half after 2 bad placements, i remember reading quite positive comments even in the Forum for ch82 which is supposed to be the chapter ranked so i guess it makes sense.

Great to see Roku still ranking well after the color page, you never know, so many series suddenly rank after a color page lol I think is fair to say Roku is the winner of the batch so far, has yet to step in the bottom 5, but i don't expect to sell better than Class 2B vol 1 unless it's a Build King level of bomb.

Like i mentioned last week, HxH already being shoved to the lower half of the magazine.

Kiyoshi back in the bottom but in reality it wouldn't be if wasn't for the color pages, but i did expect the chapter ranked, Kiyoshi badass transformation and finally defeating the demon, to be higher than this tbh, but doesn't really matter lol

Well, some interesting stuff in the bottom 4, first Under Doctor rising a bit, not really much but going from b2 to b2 and above a cp does have a impact, like i said, the series aint going anywhere for this round at least.

Nue being Nue in the bottom but not gonna lie, chapter 146 deserved way better placement than bottom 3, Saito sucks...

Now for the biggest shock of the issue, Class 2-B, first of all:

Class 2B is definitely a surprise so far, it's been 3 consecutive weeks in 3rd/4th place, but i do have a feeling the series is going to suddenly drop heavily soon because i do feel like Jump is either keeping the series high due to not wanting to "doom" the series so fast or are readers voting so far based on Sorachi name, and i know this sounds like what a hater would say, which i'm not, i'm just finding these amazing Top 3/4 consecutive placements when the series was literally being mocked & trashed online a bit "off", like something isn't adding it

But i did not expected to be such a drastic drop, from Top 4 to Bottom 2 is crazy! It's like i said, i was feeling that a drop was coming the opinions online were too bad for the series to not suffer any sort of drop, and i know that there's the possibility of being a late submission because the next week color page but personally i don't believe because bottom 2 feels too low for late submissions but we will see, if it go back to the top 5 after the color page so yeah i guess it was late submission but so far i do think this is simply the "real" reception kicking in, not that i'm saying the former placements were fake but that Sorachi name carried the series in the beggining.

Of course not forgetting to talk again, what a disrespect is this placement for the Drawn to the Fire color page, bottom 3 is craaazy, what is even the point of giving a cp for the series if you're going to pull this kind of bullshit with the author? a regular bottom 3 placements was better than this, also not even mentioning Kinato's Magic situation, i legit wonder how Amemiya is feeling, i would be pissed, i would legit complain with my editor, the manga not only survived a round but sold pretty decently and got a reprint announced, so what's going on with Saito & cia not giving anything for the series? It legit feels like the editorial has something against it...

Blue Box ended, i already checked the chapter since Thursday and what i can say without spoilers is that it's definitely a fitting final chapter for the kind of series that Blue Box is, and with that a 5 years run comes to an end, the longest romcom ever on Shonen Jump and i'm perfectly fine with that, it's not any "masterpiece" but honestly, which Jump romcom is? maybe some of the older ones that i haven't read but the modern ones all have their share of positive & negative points and i definitely think Blue Box deserved the success it has, so congratulations for Kouji Miura for the very successful serialization, i hope for a good rest and that she comes back in the future, i do wish she doesn't return with a Blue Box 2.0 but with something different, unfortunately i don't think her current art fits the "Sensei Sukidesu" type of ecchi romcom series anymore so i would honestly not be surprised at all if she returns pairing with Kento Matsuura and serializing that one shot they published or a complete new series, but anyway, good rest and see ya in the future!

A live-action Naruto movie sounds like a bad idea, I know there have been adaptations that are at least not quite as bad since, but I can't help but think of Dragon Ball Evolution. If you're going to do a live-action anime adaptation, feels like a show would be a better idea. I am not watching it because I am not really interested in live-action anime in general, but the One Piece show was well received so doing it like that just seems like the way to go.

Yes, I quite like Someone Hertz. I initially wrote it off as something that would definitely get axed and didn't even give it a chance, and yet it ended up being the lone survivor from last year. Picked it up when vol. 1 came out and loved it. Pretty funny and Kurage is great.

First off, welcome to the forum!

Secondly, I pretty much agree with this. The last few chapters in particular, I've been wondering what was the point I enjoyed Under Doctor the most. And this post made me realise it was indeed the Maxell chapters. For me, whenever UD focussed on action stuff it got worse, and it was much better at handling the emotional stuff. But I remember when these chapters first came out I thought "yes, this is kinda what the manga should be like long term", it actually had a good balance of action and the more emotional stuff, and showed that the series COULD do some compelling action mixed in with the more personal story stuff, Hell, I thought Maxell would join the gang or at least be a recurring character, instead he just disappeared. And seemingly so did the type of arc that Maxell's was. Now it's swung mostly quite far away from action, and the one action arc we did have (the one in Cameroon) didn't really have anything personal behind it.

There's still time of course, the manga is still young and sells quite well (even with the scalping stuff), but I'd like to return more to that kinda stuff than what it's been doing recently. Although, shit, the stuff it's been doing lately might be what boosted its popularity, so maybe we're in the minority here lol.

I agree those chapters definitely had the best balance of the action and emotional aspects of the series. I definitely expected Maxell would be a recurring character, and am still hoping he will be. I could see him coming back as an all for when we finally get a big arc, although if those chapters really were received poorly I am a bit worried that will not happen even if it was in the cards at some point.

I feel like the editors saw Roku was successful and wanted to give it a color page; likewise they’re not going to ignore giving a color page to a successful vet like sorachi even if 2B gets dragged horrendously. They didn’t want to doom drawn to flame so they gave it a pity one. Basically the latter 2 colors were due to obligation. The real test will be placements after. DRawn to flame will likely flame out due to extended wait of volume 1. 2B will definitely survive a round since it’s sorachi and pseudo- gag so expectations are lower. I hope 2B recovers and still has a lot of support due to the plot twist.

My theory on Kinato is either it was dead but due to a lot of vet series ending and due to it having some potential, they decided to keep it another round on the off chance surveys improve but still had it marked for dead since it’s surveys never recovered OR it’s in a Nue situation where they see is as Jumps modern age echi and want to keep it towards the back (bottom placement each time makes me think the former).

What’s your guess on the newest batch? I think animal signal does middling but enough to survive, but I’m super curious on HAL and cannon master (which I accepted is probably OA since Jump readers seem to hate most fantasy adventure series sadly).

Have no idea with Animal Signal, it's not getting much talk online but the opinions are positive, i don't think its going to "flop" but also no idea if is going to be actually successful

Hal Formula i have a good feeling about, the series is generating a good amount of discussion online, specially considering the very niche theme, much better than GGG at the time if i remember well.

Cannon Master is another mystery, the opinions in the forums is really not bad but i just don't know.

Hmm, i think if Kinato is potentially going to end this next round, this week chapter might be setting up for that to happen, it's not 100% but it went pretty quickly from the end of the festival, back to the guild and starting a new arc where the villains from that former arc appears again...

I won’t definitively call it a masterpiece, but Blue Box is an extremely close one.
