Senpai of the Seven Wonders and Iron Man-kun: Huh, the Kawaguchi one shot is actually more interesting than i thought, it's a whole mix of horror, scifi & romcom genres, it's like a exorcist story but the ghost/spirits are captured with technology like the Ghostbusters but the technology gives the mc powers, it's kinda cool, the girl is a scientist and she's that mix of Toga face but actually cute, so that definitely could be popular with male fans and the guy is pretty big, so is a interesting combo, i do think this could actually work as a serialization.

I can't wait for the Hitman Reborn new 'anime' projects to inevitably be a collab illustration with Kamonohashi Ron and some new keychains.

Is it high fantasy (new world) or low fantasy (modern day with fantastical elements)?

I cannot believe the same week i complained about Ishiguro not being part of the UD ensemble cast is the same week he came back. Wow.

Please let him be a recurring character.

You can just tell shindo is psyche about these last few chapters. He's great at making Ruri look cool in alot of these panels. Pun intended.

Every single time I decided to give UD another chance, and just as when I thought "wait this can be interesting", Kino immediately ruined it with his power

I don't know if it's because I've been mentally checked out of Sakamoto for a couple months now or because I'm dumb but I didn't make the connection that the prediction about Sakamoto dying is probably for Suzuki after taking on Sakamoto's personality. Dope idea but the way it's playing out is so clunky in practice, lmao. I liked that double spread at least.

Issue 35:

1. Nue's Exorcist
I'm always happy when they let a Nue chapter breath. Not a lot of words with the action taking the focus, but the subtle character writing with the unhinged Gakuro trying everything against Yagyo, acting as a protector to the girls, is a pretty good way to show the parallels they have. The hero is in an animal state of fighting mostly with instinct, while the villain gets more human progressively during their battle.

Again going with this arc's themes of not shouldering all the pain alone, ending this with Shitotsu asking her brother to trust her makes complete sense. This connection humanizes Gakuro again.

2. Ruri Dragon
Love to see all the powers being put to use like this after she kept containing them for so long. That last smile is basically Ruri finally being satisfied that she doesn't need to hide a whole side of herself.

3. Hunter x Hunter
Not as emotionally charged as last week's, but still a lot of pieces moving and new information. Very interested in what Kurapika chose to do there, but I have a feeling it'll take a long time for us to know as it seems he had a proper plan to trick everyone.

4. Someone Hertz
These moments where its shown how much people look up to Mimei are great. It helps a lot with the main idea that what he needs the most is to trust himself a little more and how Mizuo gives that push. In return, she also keeps leaning more on him as she needs a bit of normalcy as well.

5. Animal Signal
I enjoy how much this series is about how knowledge alone doesn't cut it and how important communication is as well. Just like Hertz, the fun here is about how the couple is growing thanks to each other.

As for the others, seems likely Sakamoto Days is truly wrapping up already for the next batch. Hero Destroyerz keeps missing my top 5, but it's still making me laugh every week as the humor now is more focused on character dynamics. And Under Doctor going for a chapter about triage was another good move, but I don't get why people, doctors at that, don't recognize Haiji at this point, it's not like he's trying to hide his identity or skills. Gives me the impression the underground stuff was going to matter more originally, but the author gave up on it.

A lot of people were calling it, so it's kind of a predictable move. But it's not a bad idea, the villains are boring enough that Skinny Sakamoto vs Fat Sakamoto makes for a better final fight, both for spectacle and the story's main theme.

1. Witch Watch: It's not easy to steal the first position to Akane-banashi at its peak, but the dark turn taken by this flashback left me basically speechless. Both the first and the second killing scenes were so out of context for Witch Watch that sent a chill down my spine, and I never had a more clear feeling of the despair of a character than today. What a bomb.
2. Kagurabachi: It's not easy to steal the SECOND position to Akane-banashi at its peak, but the returning Kagurabachi presented a depressing story that really touched my heart. It's impressive for a series about people killing each other with enchanted swords to deliver an emotional chapter like this. On a brighter note, I see that during the break Hokazono learned from Oda his new technique of a flashback inside a flashback.
3. Akane-banashi: You think this cruise event has no more stories to tell, but here is the twist, now I'm eager to see this new duel. Great move by the authors that give us something to look forward to even after such a climax. And Karasu returns! It's always nice to see him.
4. Roku's House of Oddities: Very good chapter for two reasons: the first is that despite the gags, it is the first attempt at a serious story; and the second is that it continues next week, meaning it is an attempt at writing something longer than one chapter. Perfect timing for trying both things out, given the reception and the upcoming cover.
5. Ichi the Witch: Hakari's reasoning makes sense from his point of view, I don't blame him for coming at the conclusion he came at. Everyone thinks this will be the arc of Kumugi, but it will be the arc of that guy who showed up at the end of the chapter.
6. Cannon Master: It now turns out that the rival is greener than what we were made to believe, which is better in my opinion so the protagonist win is more justified. I am 80% sure that the kidnapped minister will turn out to be evil and 65% sure he is in control of the Regilith.
7. Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi: After the lore drop of last week, the same scenario is used for an emotional chapter, complete with a flashback with no tragic events, but simply a wholesome training arc set in the past. This trip to the woods is a chance for the author to explore a lot of narrative techniques.
8. Me and Roboco: It was strange that last week Roboco didn't celebrate the ending of Blue Box, so it was somehow due to have the hommage chapter this week. Glad that they didn't reenact also the climatic scene of chapter 248.
9. Under Doctor: Seeing back the other doctor of chapter 1 is like seeing back the lesser demon from chapter 1 of Kiyoshi. It is great news that he hadn't been forgotten.
10. One Piece: A chapter full of little interesting parts, where many stories are starting to intersect to become one. Nice save at the end, it's time to shift again the momentum in favour of the Strawhats.
11. Kinato's Magic: This arc is already better than the previous one, because the characters involved are much more fun. I liked Kinato recognizing straight away that he couldn't win the battle against the rival, instead of clashing head on like every other Jump protagonist would do.
12. Drawn to the Fire: The match looks engaging enough, but it's just warming up. I liked the dark vs. light uniform contrast between a team who plays aggressively against a team that just wants to have fun.
13. HunterXHunter: First part very interesting and followable. Second part less interesting but still followable. Now, we entered martial laws, can we please stop overthinking and start rolling some heads?
14. Hal Formula: So if I got it right, he was so close to death that his life (all contained in the previous 5 chapters) flashed before his eyes, and he defeated that? Impressive accomplishment, but while he was in the cockpit his mentor became the new protagonist of the series with all the focus he had. I'll skip the comments about "speed of the race vs. speed of commentary or internal thoughts" because I know there are laws of manga to respect.
15. Shinobi Undercover: We finally snap out of the Kill Blue spell by having: 1. Yodaka realizing that he can now talk normally with people, huge character development for him; 2. A bad guy showing up and doing something more in line with the series than a beauty contest, bringing back the action that was so dearly missed.
16. Sakamoto Days: The very predictable outcome just arrived, and the streak of good chapters lost its momentum. Probably the Nagumo Days are almost over and the rest is up to the protagonist duo.
17. Nue's Exorcist: I did a bit of research to remember who the enemy was. I regained some memories now, but it remains true that the chapter (and the reveal within it) are more enjoyable for the true fans who remember everything.
18. RuriDragon: Battle manga RuriDragon feels very...generic, and could be axed. So I hope this is a temporary state and we will return soon to the supernatural slice of life genre we all know and love.
19. Someone Hertz: Good idea to separate the main duo with an excuse, bad idea to have them reunite at the end of the chapter and continue their awkward dynamic as if nothing happened. I expect great things from the new character who idolizes Mimei.
20. Class 2-B: Hero Destroyerz: After a good streak, here is an episodic chapter that doesn't leave the mark. That was also because the cast is limited, they could have used another estabilished character or two to variate the gags more.
21. Animal Signal: I am starting to lose interest for this series. Unlike Roku, it wasn't able to adapt its formula and now it's basically the same chapter over and over, with some variation. This series needs a shake-up fast, given also that the first ToC ranking isn't very encouraging.

I have fallen behind and need to remember names. Is Karasu our smiley face guy or the afrobastard.

Yeah I noticed that. I was behind and started catching up and then I realized something. Even though it’s a comedy, its chapters didn’t make me laugh, not even a chuckle. It’s all feeling one note. Was ‘Tis Time for “Torture” Princess like this too? I know I can’t blame or criticize Tsutsui because he is doing the art, but if I took out Haruhara I would have thought that he was writing it.

Karasu is the smiley face guy, and the afrobastard is Zensho. You find me prepared in one of the very few series where I remember the names of the side cast.

EDIT: Karashi, not Karasu, dammit! I correct myself before someone else corrects me after my useless bragging.
