Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

Toriyama is the creator of all the main arcs & main characters of Super, this is something confirmed by both Toei & Toyotaro, Toriyama didn't "write" the episodes or chapters, he created a layout with the main plot points & developments of each arc while Toei writers & Toyotaro wrote the arcs on their own way based in these main plot points, this is why despite so many differences between both with the way the arcs developed the end was still always the same.

Toriyama was in fact heavily involved with the manga alongside Toyotaro specially after the anime ended, he was writing the manga together with Toyo and even the last chapter published before his death had many modifications done by Toriyama as Toyotaro revealed later after his death.

But according to Franz none of this matter, manga it's filler because the anime is the "original source" since it started first

You're probably thinking of the movies Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, which were also written (or at least heavily modified) by Toriyama and then adapted into both versions.

The canon debate really does take on a new dimension when you have three continuities of the same story that are all slightly different but were all kinda sorta written by the original creator. (And they're gonna reboot the thing in Dragon Ball Beerus soon, so that'll be version 4. Yay.)

No, i'm talking about the anime & manga, Franz point was that the anime was the "canon" because, the movies, were the first and the anime was always way ahead the manga but it's not the case, Toriyama created the layout, characters and main plot points for each arc while Toei & Toyotaro, wrote the whole arc, each on their own way, filling in between based in the instructions from Toriyama, so there's no "original canon" between Dragon Ball Super anime & manga since both were following Toriyama's original draft.

Curious: How much did Hima-ten’s 11th volume sell so far?

14,612 copies, virtually the same amount of as the former volumes, maybe slightly more, it ended in a high note with the series selling extremely consistent through its serialization.

Hopefully it gets a anime, it did well enough to warrant that.

Honestly, nothing lifts the spirits like a recent batch of serialisations hitting in the way you want them to and giving you hope that they might stick around. Neither are in my top 5 for this issue either (twas a really good week) but The Ura Report continues to lean into the heavyyyy BokuYaba influence in a fun way, and is just all round a fun read while Graykeith: Translator Daemonica is tickling an itch I'm glad is being scratching; it's not quite a battle shonen by the way it's setting itself up, more just a fantasy/supernatural series, but it could go any which way. All I know is every chapters' exploration of the world and the core characters' dynamics so far have been winning.

Naturally, I must join in on the glazing of this Akane-banashi chapter and the excellent colour page (because the amount of colour =/= a good colour page), wish I hadn't seen it on here out of context before it came out, but oh well. The whole chapter itself was quite un-Jump like in its pacing and panelling, and if this really is Issho's epithet and his approach to telling stories then the contrast it'll have with the comedic routine before is going to make this already massive moment even more hyped. I am sooooo strapped in right now. I suspect even if Hunter x Hunter was still running this string of Akane-banashi chapters would still overtake them for me.

I'm glad WITCH WATCH isn't wrapping up in the way the Bone Crisis chapters concluded, which didn't feel at all satisfying compared to what came before it. Not expecting this new set of chapters to be any longer than that arc/sub-arc though (I still expect the series to end first half of 2027). Those finger crushing panels alone were such a creative moment in a development that is probably the most exciting thing the series could do right now. Kagurabachi I feel has been overstaying its time in this flashback - especially when we already know the outcome of so many of these things and there seems to be more suspense in the writing than feels warranted - but this was a badass introduction to a character we know isn't going to make it much further than this flashback, so I feel like we could go all-out with him. Fun. I'm also glad Hal Formula is winning me over again now that it's off the tracks. The actual sports in this series? Boring. The company politics and character drama? Good shit. Cannon Master was so excellent last week too, while this week feels like a shift that might have given me hope for a new story arc under different contexts, but I'm beyond hope now. And Me & Roboco delivers two really strong chapters in a row, love that for us.

Issue 44 2026 (actually on time for once):

1. Nue's Exorcist: Since it is technically part of the chapter, I will mention my thoughts about it: these are possibly the most insane Popularity Poll results I have ever seen, jesus christ. We see Kazusa in 1st, which makes sense! She was popular from her introduction and has had plenty of big moments since, a true main heroine. Then we get... Kyokotsu. I mean, that proves the existance of a decent female audience, and he IS hot, so I guess...
Kathy? She's awesome! But lemme check- OH. 777 Votes were all grom one guy! And 4th is- KABANE??? Like, is the tragic, angry Shota energy THAT powerful?! Ok, ok... Shiroha is 5th! I love Shiroha! My boy Gakuro is 6th, which is still good given that this is a harem series, and my girl Shitotsu is 7th! I KNEW she wasn't THAT unpopular!!
...What the fuck do you mean Kazusa's MOM is 8th?? This whole list is just madness, we got Shinozane Senpai in 16th due to people wanting a face reveal early and Tsujita didn't even make top 20!! But I love that. I was laughing in the middle of the night looking at these results, far, FAR more interesting than what we would have gotten had the Interims been more accurate. And it makes sense that niche characters would rise like this here, given the short voting period and the single tickets. Not to mention, the sheer passion that Kawae put into these illustrations. He said he had a lot of fun and you can feel it: everyone with a different outfit, some blushing, some confident, Kabane had a little angry veing popping, and even a few outside the top 10 (Rip Nue...) were given a bit of shine through that introductory page! Mr Marvelous and the freaking chapter 1 spirit got illustrated too!! Over in japan, they are going crazy over these results and laughing just as much as me, and I wouldn't have it any other way. What an absolute blast of a poll! If only they gave us the damn LCP spot for 42-43...
Anyways, onto the chapter itself!
Seeing all these Level 4s in action at once is so hype, and all 4 at once stopping Gakuro is a tell of just how much is really needed to hold him there. I mean, shit, he wasted no time going after the enclosure and the INSTANT Shie said he needed to kill her (actually, even before she finished the damn sentence) Gakuro had already beheaded her clone made by Shin. Look at his eyes, that is pure unfiltered murder in there, he is NOT about to entertain any of their bullshit. The designs are spectacular as always, and I am really looking forward to learning Black Hair's name finally.
Switching back to Nue, to the surprise of absolutely nobody, she's getting destroyed. You can see the shards of multiple Zenoblades around her, and bruises on her usually perfect face. She has never been in a lower state than this. And we bare witness to another one of Nue's Hollow Weapons, the last resort forbidden to her by her friend even from the grave.
"Hollow Weapon Number Zero: Brave Of Atmos".
"Brave" is likely refereing to its heroic nature. It wasn't revealed through a spread, nor is it flashy, big, or powerful. It's a single arrowz taking two lives into itself to create a Hollow Weapon. It turns them trash without minds of their own, bot Kasha AND Nue. That "I really must." is Nue truly accepting that there is no othet option. She made a plan together with active Captains, she obtained a weapon capable of killing immortals, she fought until she lost everything but that one single arrow. No matter what she told Kathy, she does NOT want to die, or rather worse, turn into mindless garbage. She loves humanity, all of her friends, and her contractor. She still even considers Raisei of all people to be a friend for crying out loud. She wanted to avoid this scenario at all cost, but it was for naught. Now she's left to strangle an unstoppable enemy with the last of her strength, damning herself for failing over and over, all to create a path for the future of humanity, just like how Gekka wanted a future for her and Tomonaki.
Her friend shares two distinct visual details with Gakuro: the mark under her eye, and the inverted hair colors compared to him. Was she of a branch family of the Yajimas perhaps? And why they ended up exterminated? And we can confirm that yes, Raita WAS Raisei.
She mentions graduation, and the petals in the spread must be representing that. Nue's graduating and leaving everyone else behind to pick up the pieces. The sheer raw anger in that vertical panel is incredible... Oh and now we can assume that Natsuki can turn into a weapon cause Nue can too! Someone else pointed it out and I feel stupid for not noticing.
The suspence is through the roof, the emotions are super strong, and Kazusa's mom is hot and sweaty. 13/10!!

2. Someone Hertz: As I predicted, Ei wants to create parallels between The Long Hopes, Mimei and Kurage, to the point where they end up playing a cd left there BY Inami. By accident, we saw their possible future as a comedy podcast, a sort of successor to The Long Hopes, and Osera did kind of mentor Mimei here too. And the rest, as usual, is pure youth. With music notes. God bless copyright, I guess?

3. Class 2B Hero Destroyerz: The idea that heroes don't even hold any other purpose beyond the one given by their own title, just "going through the motions", and performing crimes like these adds a sense of horror to something that was mostly treated very humorously before.

4. Ura Files: It's a common trope to introduce a "Bro" type character make the cast in a romcom like this more varied, and I do not mind Takada being that bro. Instead of just reducing him to an insensitive horny prick, he's made funnier by being not completely a prick, while still making him horny, and rather than insensitive he's just... Dumb. I think it's already leading to funnier moments, and it gives more room for character depth.

5. Kagurabachi: Misaka's fairly cool, and Shiba saying "roger" while obviously about to do the complete opposite is pretty funny I think. That said, I can really statt to feel this flashback arc well overstaying its welcome now.

6. Roku's House Of Oddities: Those celebrity dogs are such a stupid fucking joke that I can't help but praise it. Rest of the chapter is ok.

7. GrayKeith: Translator Daemonica: A bit more worldbuilding and tsundere GrayKeith. Not as good as last chapter, but still fine.

8. Hal Formula: Cute, I guess, but that is mighty convenient lol.

9. Animal Signal: The Giraffe neck made me laugh.

10. Cannon Master: Snooore.

At least delving into papa and mama chihiro makes sense because their relationship are the main motivation for forging the swords to begin with. And also delving into Chiaki makes sense for the big bad (Chiaki's brother) developments

Ibuki’s story is very tied to Natsuki, who we have in current day and who will probably inherit/surpass his brother’s will in some sense with the new cloud gouger replacement (guessing here, admittedly).

I would counter by saying why go so hard on Geto’s story in JJK when he’s functionally dead by the start of the series proper? Just because someone is dead current day and they don’t have overtly direct ties to another character does not mean there’s no value in the story they’re unfolding.

The swords and their users are the coolest and most hyped part of Kagurabachi. Of course seeing the original user of one of the swords is going to be a big deal in a flashback arc.
