Mashima had to retcon Miraxus when he hasn’t given them any development after this timeline. Have they even talked in Alvarez or the entirety of 100yq?

Isn’t Cobra suppose to be locked up? Isnt Jellal suppose to be hiding his face? Why do I even bother asking?

This story didn’t feel needed when it didn’t feel much of a Laxus focused.

Why y'all act like Mira and Laxus are main characters? They obviously interact mostly off screen hence the covers always depicting in a friendly to damn near flirtatious manner. I ain't seen no one say Kianna and Erik are forced when we have never seen the interact before they were canon in the 100YQ.

Laxus and Mira being on the low makes sense given their characterization and they have never been ship focused but guild/family focused. Could he jave given them more development in the main manga? Sure, but does he have to? I honestly don't believe so since they are secondary characters in a battle shounen. Hell, I think Mashima would actually like to write more romance focused manga but was forced to do shounen based on this spin off lol. The battle aspect was the most "forced" part in the spin off and that's bcs the battles were mostly just Team Natsu being Team Natsu and the opponents were literally fodder.

Honestly, thank god Mashima didn't push Mira and Laxus as a couple in the original mangá!
Keeping their individuality intact is why they're so good. I'd take this a million times over characters getting completely sidelined or ruined by shipping like Gruvia or Gajevy, where the characters literally stop existing outside of their romance plot. At the end of the day, it's so damn cool that Miraxus got featured in a 20th-anniversary special, and it just shows how much love the author has for them.

Saying it needed more is w/e but acting like it's out of nowhere is strange. It is not 1 of the big 4 but romance is not important to either of their characters like Juvia's for example and in Laxus case even though he's featured a lot, it's always as a fighter and Natsu's idol in a sense.

So we got another S class powe couple and in this case they will be both leading the guild: Laxus as the future master and Mira continuing to be the heart/maternal figure and handling the administrative duties as she does now.

On the whole pretty typical of post-Tartaros FT, good basic ideas & concepts, but let down somewhat by execution.

Having said that, with only 9 chapters, this was obviously never going to be a fully fleshed out story, even the shorter early FT arcs usually ran beyond 20 chapters. There just wasn't the room to put in fully fleshed out fights or to give Ivan an actual scheme to take control of FT (If that even was what he was going for?) so this was to be fully expected, really.

I would stand by my previous comment that if they took the basic idea but actually built it out into a properly developed narrative it could make a decent basis for a third movie.

I love how Mirajane is not Laxus' fangirl or subordinate like Freed is and is not some obsessive, twisted male fantasy like Kyria (parading in her underwear, mounting him while he's out cold and making him her slave. Mashima ain't slick with his panel placement).

Mira's someone who knew him for years, is also an S class mage, helps run the guild he wll lead one day, understands him and who can stand up to him at the same time and she is someone he respects and whose power he respects.

I never said he was gay tho. My point is about basic narrative competence, A bond built on actual emotional depth and shared history makes infinitely more sense. Laxus and Mirajane have little to no actual interaction in the original manga. All you have are a few chapter covers of them hanging out. Idk what fanfics you talk about but feel free to wallow in mediocrity. Just don't expect me to sit here and validate your delusions

Freed isn't any more special to Laxus than Evergreen or Bixlow. Freed is a fanboy for Laxus also while a ship like Laxus x Erza would probably make more sense given their rivalry and belief in one another as protectors of the guild/leaders of the guild, and even that isn't close to canon. The only logical Laxus ship is Miraxus since even Kyria is obsessive and that ship seems 'dark'.
