Yeah its not an encouraging sign for the manga. Maybe if it had an already ongoing and airing manga today it could be somewhat protected or have a partner manga it could do crossovers with which like Toriko had which allowed it to avoid early termination from being a bottom dweller, but Kagurabachi has none of that so is left on its own. Very worrying sign.
Are you actually comparing UXU to Kagurabachi?

Yeah, we’re pretty much on the same page save for Bachi. I think a lot of the current newer Jump heroines aren’t your typical “swimsuit-inclined” characters for lack of a better term, so I don’t know how possible it’d be, but it’d be nice to see something pulled off.
Being fair, not every character in these arts is supposed to be look sexy. Some just go for cool or cute, so they could just do that. Have a competitive swimsuit, goggles, etc.

Speaking of other surprises in the ToC, happy to see Under Doctor so high, happy to see Hal Formula not at the bottom, but I also wonder why Animal Signal is so high?
Animal Signal was just featured as Bentame Jump's cover, so I think this implies they see it as being popular or having potential to be popular with kids and they really have nothing else like that. Not that I buy into the "kids" thing that much, but it wouldn't be surprising if that was the logic.

Why am I seeing people claiming that the reduced pagecounts for bachi lately are somehow that he's involved with the anime? And not that he's just doing rough rn?
Like I get coping that nothing is wrong, but surely the most obvious answer is the right one here. Every week I feel I see new mental gymnastics about how everything is actually fine and this is normal.

They think he is literally drawing scenes for the anime.

It depends, because everyone thinks Animal Signal is a flop just because it came in 6th place, even though it sold 5k ?

Are people saying this? It's a common thing for mangaka to get busier when the anime is coming as they have to check stuff and be more involved with other projects, like the laundry one Hokazono did.

Most weekly mangaka can handle it, but he already struggled with the schedule, so yes, extra work will impact the number of pages.

Idk about that, I assume they think he's just super involved and somehow thats taking up his time?
It just really feels like every time he's struggling, somehow it isn't that "Hokazono is struggling with the weekly serialization, like many before him". Last year it was that he was overworked due to the anniversary, and so the chapters suffered due to that (nevermind the obvious cause of it being color pages, which have completely disappeared from the work). And now its this new excuse that I have literally never seen before.

I haven't seen it before this week, but now I'm seeing a few people spamming it under every discussion about this week's toc.

I wonder if next volume shows another drop of sales editorial is going to push Hokazono to be done faster with this flashback arc, at this point is pretty clear this Flashback arc is just not really loved by japanese fans (I read criticisms even here), so i don't think editorial will be glad with Hokazono wasting, god knows, how many months and months in this while sales drop and ToC placements keep in the mud.

You've definitely seen the spoilers for the next chapter, so you know the answer.

Also, as someone said, Kagurabachi sells more than 1/15th of the manga in the magazine, so it would be a waste to transfer or cancel the series.

I feel like this is happening with the Ruri Dragon author.

I think they will make him take an hiatus a month before the anime airs.

Is Hokazono in an actual Bakuman-style war with the editorial? The last place is insanity :XD

On a more serious note, either editorial needs to be held accountable for making struggling man draw manga or Hokazono is an actual madman that doesn't want to stop until he's done-done, in which case editorial needs to step in and stop this, there is no way you let your prodigy author hurt himself. I personally believe in Hokazono being a madman more because of the wording of the July hiatus announcement, but either way I think editorial needs to put him on a different schedule at this point. I don't read RuriDragon and understand it's a pure fantasy, cause of constant Shindo health problems and this being unfair to every other author in the magazine, but imagine weekly rotation of Ruri and Bachi?

Speaking of other surprises in the ToC, happy to see Under Doctor so high, happy to see Hal Formula not at the bottom, but I also wonder why Animal Signal is so high? Even if there are a lot of people voting for it, what is the incentive to put an underselling series at the 6th place? ToC is not a ranking, but a formula to make the best reader experience possible, sure, but that decision is lowkey buffling (unless I miss some crucial knowledge). Bizarre ToC all around this week.
In a way this kinda reads to me like Hokazono writing this the way Kunishige is forging the blades; working himself half to death against the advice of the governing bodies or something like that. Though Shiba might be a better example, who’s been constantly at 1hp and still doing the most with keeping people at bay and taking on bonus jobs against the betterment of his health.

Gosh, now that I think of it there’s an awful lot of Bachi characters that just keep throwing themselves into more danger/work until they either break or someone stops them. Chihiro, Hakuri, Kunishige, Shiba, Azami… maybe Hokazono has a lot of personal experience to draw from with these kinds of attitudes at this point. Isn’t this what Ivankov’s speech in the latest One Piece chapter was about?

Much as I want him to take all the time he needs to flesh out the Seitei War, it would be good timing for him to start part 2 proper with Chihiro back in the spotlight as the anime starts serializing, to get the boosted hype on multiple fronts.

I just don't get the point. Do you guys think this arc is so hated the 150k seller manga (not even counting digital) is getting less votes than Animal Signal and Hal Formula that are barely selling 5k? I don't think that's even possible. And this arc clearly doesn't get a visible ton of hate to rank this bad. Some people may not like and that's believable, but it's not like Kagurabachi went from ranking 1 to 4 or something. It's last place this week.

We know for a fact he struggles with the schedule with all these breaks and reduced page numbers, don't we? So what's more likely to be the reason for the TOC placement? I think it's obvious it's his schedule as the main factor.

They won’t do either of those things lol. It’s going to be the second best selling series in the magazine when Sakamoto ends and the only one other than OP that has some international cache. Jump is in their weakest position in several decades, they don’t have juice in their lineup to experiment with KGB. There’s a reason why they’re bringing Naruto and Bleach back, shit is grim so all big hitters are getting all preferential treatment

Jump will try and keep KGB in Jump as long as possible unless he physically can’t handle the load anymore. The rest of the lineup just doesn’t have that kind of motion so they’ll do anything in their power to keep the big ones there

See but is it hate, or is it apathy? I feel like its pretty likely that a large chunk of Kagurabachi fans just buy the volumes instead of reading weekly. And so, if that rules out a chunk of people voting for it, and the weekly magazine readers are just voting for other, more exciting series, then that explains the decline.
Flashbacks don't have to necessarily be hated to lose reader interest. People don't vote for them because it isn't what they read the series for, the main cast they know and love are gone.

Kuroki would be the perfect guy to bring back the Summer Jump Heroine illustration, just do it next year Saito :hee

IDK about this, but please hear me out on this theme idea:
Jump Heroines Marching Band, with all of the heroines in uniform, Ura/Nami as the majorette & Roboco's face being plastered onto one of those big bass drums.

Even though, since its cover, it had been placed on the lower end of the ToC.

I don't know why you always have to go to extremes with your examples to make a point, no one is saying Japan hates this arc to death or that Kagurabachi is getting actual less votes than Animal Signal, but at this point is just obvious that alongside Hokazono struggling with the serialization the arc reception isn't really good too, i just read a couple of opinions on Otona for this ToC talking about how they find the arc boring, this has been going for a while in these Forums which is no surprise, it's a long af flashback arc that just never ends and doesn't have the main character or any of the fan favorites, a portion of the readers will just get bored with it, just like how many Bleach fans got totally bored with the Fullbring arc for not having any favorite Shinigami for 95% of the arc.

It's just like Class 2B, actually worse because this one has actual plenty of rushed/unfinished drawing compared to Kagurabachi, but at this point is just obvious that the Class 2B reception with magazine readers is also bad which is why the terrible placements.

I feel like is just okay to admit that this flashback arc isn't particularly doing well with the magazine readers alongside Hokazono struggles, that doesn't mean the manga is in any danger at all.
