The things you listed aren't really about "believing" because these pretty much happens and not even only on WSJ, or you forgot cases like Suruga Meteor on WSM having the "best survey performance in the last 5 years" despite not even selling 5k? that's not theory, that's a fact, we got Zumo having a amazing performance inside the magazine despite selling 30k copies in freaking 2014 when Jump was still in the peak of its 2nd Golden Age, nothing you described is any alien concept in Shonen Jump or the manga industry.
Not as consistent as Saito treating his babies like golden gooses and throwing the 2nd best seller with an upcoming anime into the bottom. lol Also, you're exaggerating the scenario a bit, there was never a second Golden Age after the Dragon Ball + Slam Dunk era, but even during that time some niche series did enough to survive. My point is about how consistent he is about protecting some series and not caring about others that are visibly more popular.

Wasn't Nakano constantly attacked for "treating Kagurabachi terrible" despite being literally the guy that greenlighted it? lol

The situation with Nakano was weird though, Kagurabachi was in the bottom 5 most issues until the very issue Saito took over and from then it was suddenly almost always in the top half.

Sure series sometimes do get a big boost from a strong arc, but the timing is too perfect to call a coincidence.

There very clearly is something happening behind the scenes with Kagurabachi and it's incredibly obvious someone at shueisha is trying to sink it

- Every merch release is wildly underprinted and is almost never restocked, at least not in an orderly fashion (outside specifically the physical jump shops)
- Kagurabachi volume got delayed but they didnt announce the delay to anyone and they only actually showed the new release date publicly a couple days before in the magazine (where most volume readers are volume only)
- Everything going on with how they are advertising the anime
- When it won Tsugimanga it got a 2 inch sticker on a small handful of trains meanwhile Undead Unluck and Ichi got PVs and a full train covering
- Kagurabachi TOC even with it's quote on quote "good arcs" was still awful, there was only a small exception in the 40-60 range where it ranked consistently well

There's even more too, I don't really know how a series can get this much incompetence in how it's handled by editorial before you realize its just malicious

I will say it was really fucking funny having weekly arguments over whether Nakano was responsible for tanking Kagurabachi's ToC only for it to go from bottom 5 to 1st the week after he left.

The thing is that the same happened with Nue's Exorcist, in the next issue after Saito "took over", issue #31, it skyrocketed from bottom 5 to 3rd place after a long time in the bottom :grin

The gap between those series and Kagurabachi is massive. Kagurabachi just lacks that fun factor, and it’s nowhere near being a Shonen Jump pillar. Meanwhile, Black Clover was genuinely fun and positioned as the new king of shonen. It was a core pillar that backed it up with a long-running anime, a movie, and video games. We had it going toe-to-toe with other top-tier series like My Hero Academia in a highly competitive era. Good times. Kagurabachi is struggling for relevance and acceptance in a significantly less competitive lineup.
When Kagurabachi was at the top you were quiet, but whenever there's a slip-up you're the first to criticize.
I didn't see your criticism when your fun manga were at the bottom.

Nothing I hate more on a forum than circular endlessly looping discussion where you see an unmovable object meet and unstoppable force and they just argue back and forth forever and forever in the unending now. The ranking is strange and likely a combination of factors (reception, health, poor scheduling, etc.) but the series is safe, Jump clearly considers it enough of a big ticket to rent out a kabuki theater for it twice (the final episode screenings and the reveal) so I think acting like it's being hated and punished by the powers on high is just dumb. Although I will say it's not a great look for the editorial to be placing high selling series that far in the back. I was seeing people freak out when it was like top of bot 5 a few weeks ago before returning to middle of the pack last week. The editorial team is going to cause an uprising this week when that ranking gets published lol.

I would also think its dumb however every single opportunity editorial has had with it it's either gotten below the bare minimum compared to other series or nothing

You really cant explain away the tsugimanga treatment as anything other than malice or contempt

Yeah, Cannon Master feels like is wrapping up: Author didn't waste any time, Bharat and Ur already meets the General and Bharat vs General immediately started while Ur is fighting the other long hair kid.

Probably 3/4 more chapters ending #51 or #52, this week chapter starts vol 3.

Does it say who the editor is?
Nope

Has Yoshihiko Hayashi’s one-shot (APOLLON) been translated yet?

Inugami and Suzune by Wani: First, i thought the mc was a girl but its actualy a guy lol

Well, hard to make a comment about this one without properly reading it because you will not understand what is going on for most part and i'm lazy right now to be translating pages, what i get is that overall it is one of these "MC and Spirit/Demon Contract" kind of work but it's not a battle shounen at all, it's pretty different, it's way more like a "horror" story and visually gruesome, so it's not a standard WSJ supernatural story, and the art is one of the main factors that gives this "horror/uneasy" vibe to the story, author's artstyle it's "good" but it's totally not "Shonen Jump", in fact this fits way more on Shonen Sunday or Shonen Champion, i wouldn't mind seeing a serialization for the author (not necessarily the one shot) but the artstyle is pretty outside of what you see on Jump, so i feel like it needs to be a story pretty well planned to have a chance to be a success

Overall i thought it was pretty unique visually, interesting. For me so far:

The Young Witch and the Teacher > Dog Eat Dog World > Banchoism = Inugami and Suzune >>> Cursed Case

The fact that his previous one shot was a comedy one of all things is what makes the change to a horror one to be genuinely interesting.
