Do they pay you a lot? Cause if they dont its not worth it, you'll be in for some real grief. I swear over here, their is few things people hate more than telephone operatives...here is a story, just today my brother was calling his phone service because he couldnt check his credit, a indian lady answered (im guessing indian from the accent). He told her the problem, she said she couldnt help him, before he could say "why", she went into a long and really incomprehensible talk about the advantages of another contract. He got pissed off and i think she realised so she handed him over to an indian guy, and this man was even more annoying. He started the conversation like " Hello im gurpreet, my name is spelt G-U-R-P-R-E-E-T, i am here to help". And Mr gurpreet had this inablility to check how much money was on the phone without trying to sell him something at the same time, it ended with my brother screaming down the phone and "gurpreet" repeating "calm down sir, i am here to help remeber"....their not much liked. But here is a tip, whatever they teach you, throw it out the window...seriously, starting conversation my spelling your name might seem like a good idea on paper and it might fool people into thinking it will make you seem friendly, but it doesnt >.>;. And tip for the future "DONT ever try to sell something over the phone...unless you want some grief" :p

what the hell, so it is true, the services by indians are crap. not in this call center, we're pretty nice, direct to the point, they always stress out "customer satisfaction". and there are a lot of policies, and certainly the one you told us is grounds for termination... our trainor told us, if you ever get to have an irate customer that immediately wanted to speak to the supervisor, you should say, "im sorry sir but our supervisor has his hands full right now, if you want we can transfer you to an indian agent". of course they'd rather talk to us than indians! :D

anyway the fact that i am listening to dub music, watching nba and posting at 4chan and here at MH speaks about how disciplined i am to the rules :XD no seriously, everybody is your friend here, open-door policy, no honorifics... i like working here, its a fun environment, they only ask in return impressive performance from you.

are they serious?? honestly i've heard better sounding indian accents than that one, that one sounds like a joke....

there are funny sounding filipino agents too, but majority can speak english fluently. in here, i toured the operations floor and everybody speaks better english than the americans themselves :D and the call center industry is getting better in the philippines, standards are getting high etc....

I hate those kinds of Indians.

I've got a cousin who's now a manager of The Room Group in UAE, and he got FRAMED by his Indian counterpart for stealing about 11,000 dinar...

Assholes.

when im at work and the western union money transfer system is down, we always call tech support. the other day, we were on the phone with them an hour and a half! once we got off the phone, i turned to my supervisor and automatically said "that was an indian"...she just laughed and nodded her head, asking how i knew that...

the girl on the other end had the fakest english accent i had ever heard!

well you can't really blame indians for having a crooked accent. i guess it comes from the nature of their mother tongue's accent.

about their expertise, i dunno. it might been that you just got a very low techie guy/gal. AFAIK, indians are the ones that are employed mostly when outsourcing technical personnel.

@yonie

musta naman ang training dyan? masaya pa yan ngayon kase you get paid for LEARNING! :nuts just wait till you get on the floor 'adre. for the first week, you'll be anxious and excited getting calls, the next week, you'll wish you have less calls and the weeks after that, you'll be in the bandwagon of "cursing/irate agents".

@imp

it's not that i am defending call center agents and indians but them not knowing what to do is kind of to be expected from them. Why? agents only have a few weeks training on the product before taking live calls. they aren\t experts as well in that field. sometimes a tech support agent can be a graduate of agriculture, finance or performing arts. plus the abuse you get from customers makes the agents think: why should i exert effort?

this, btw, was based from experience and from experiences from other colleagues.

sometimes I know how to deal with the problem but i'd just tell the customer's that there's nothing we can do to save time and lessen the frustration.

bakashi pre! mustaaaa... haha yeah i do get paid to learn... its like college in here, but of course that wont be when we get to the floor, but its good that from day one they've warned us of the Nesting horrors already, and we buddied-up with the floor-agents and listened to calls... but im not that intimidated, at least for now :amuse we do mock calls of every situations frequently to condition us to the real thing. it depends on the person if he's intimidated or not really.

just like college! hehe! that's true.

nesting horrors? hahaha! one of the horrors you'll get there are nagging black housewives! the slangs and the accents...O-M-G! I got one call before who was trying to shut their dog up. she yelled in the highest pitch possible on the receiver: SHUDDUP YO STOOPID DAAWG!! then when she realized that she shouted at me, she reverted to: "Ah'm sorry da--ling."
and of course the irate customers...aahh classic! as soon as you answer the phone, they ask for a supervisor immediately!

oh well, lots of luck pre. at magready ka nang makipag plastikan sa mga customers. remember, the MUTE button is your best friend!

nga pala, bakit gising ka na ngayon? ang aga mo magising a.

*off to wash clothes*

hahaha yeah that accent is so hard to understand! also the southern accent, they played it to us, and of course we have to really keep up with what they're saying! and lol at the mute, almost everybody there does it. "im sorry sir can you repeat that? *mute* YUDIP*TA PANGWAKAL MO MAN??? *unmute* thank you sir."

btw i just woke up, shift is 10-6am, im gonna sleep again later... but now, its PAYDAY! my first ever salary! hahaha let's see... what will i buy today..... food food and food. cant think of anything really, im far from materialistic :sweatdrop
