Hello Everyone! Ready for a new round of the Art Contest? This time it is a writing one! The challenge is to write a Poem with Hopelessness as a theme.

Comments: I came up with this idea while driving to work one day.

One by one,
they hunt us down
until I'm the only one left,
and no one's here to save me.

Their hounds bay
as they pursue me
every nights and days
to the end of the Earth.

I tried my best
to evade them,
but I hear their shouts
become nearer.

I can no longer flee
for my wounds have burst open
from all my running.
All my efforts were in vain.

So I sit down here
and wait
as I can only pray
that my death will swift and painless.

So then, I won't be alone anymore.

"Another problem, Another Day
Another Way, Maybe not today.

The Earth, the Sun, the Moon, the stars
All of my face, covered by scars


My heart, Left like a broken glass jars
Our emotions arranged just like a deck of cards
You won’t survive until all the cards burn

The reality is that No one knows when it’s their turn

A life like this, A life like this is not worth being lived.

Not even a clue about when I might get killed

When you don’t know what to do,

Shout out to god

Wait for a miracle that’s not going to happen

Or try to make it out by yourself, Try to find a way,.

I know I was lost, I want to come back..

The path is clear,

I can see it, but who knows if the destination really is near?

Or if it’s just another mirage in the desert of the lost.

Who knows if my heart is still stuck in the frost?

All I have to do is find a way back home,

The regret of the mistakes I made is mine alone

The thoughts of people I can’t find,

Thoughts of all that I’ve done wrong.

No! No! No! No! No!

Who knows what kind of a monster lives under the floor?

Just a few yards to go, not any more

But who knows what mystery lies behind the door?

Maybe a monster, or perhaps another door

What if all I saw is fake?

How can I find another escape??

I wish I can make it out.

But then, Do they really even need me there? "

I cared a lot for days gone by,
I cared a lot for smiles that passed,
I cared a lot for children that cry,
I cared a lot for the women harassed.

I lived a life of joy and hope,
I lived a life of beauty and wisdom,
But suddenly I ran towards the rope,
Suddenly I was enslaved by my kingdom.

The kingdom of illusion was dear to me,
The roaring voices and the passing of time,
But now as I know that I am not free,
Is the spilling of my blood a crime?

Comments: There is nothing personal in this poem, just something that I came up with to fit the theme

I hath no such care in this world
for i m destined to die in this empty abyss,
Darkness resides in my soul
for its painted with pain and hatred,
I fight for my land as a true soldier
yet deep in my heart
i know i am nothing but a sacrificial pawn.

Its a duty they say ,
but we y'all know its just a lie,
Each flipping day i saw them
the eyes of my enemies,
it wasn't aflamed with hatred
or whatsoever,
rather a guilty and hopelessness look
we were doomed and we knew it.

The very thought of death
is my gateway to paradise ,
afterall i will be free from this
hopelessness .


i had a big bro who died from the war..... morever this poem doesnt talk about him but rather that exact opposite...

I lie in a murky pit of despair
No way out and no one to care

My body is shackled,my mind restrained
Candle of my soul is now flickering faint

Cast away,thrown out,my future is bleak
No water to quench me,no light on my cheek

Darkness presses on, overpowers my soul
Will no one help me? I am all alone

Time will pass but the tides shall not turn
Try as I may ,there is no escape that I yearn

The abyss is deep,there is no way out
I had a tiny candle and it blew out

an elder observed to me:
human lives are valued
so much less these days
than they used to be
before wars overseas.

focusing awareness
beyond splits and cracks
in history's crumbling façade,
what was the pattern?
which way the progression?

weeks without the nourishing dirt
days without refreshing water
hours without the warmth of fire
minutes with sails emptied of air

why was it throughout time,
patching one tattered soul
meant gouging several more?
how have we believed minds
measurable in isolation?

she felt lives were regarded
with lesser value now than ever.
even paralyzed by coexisting truths
and paradoxes of measurement,
I could only answer I disagree

Comment: Free verse about my fruitless attempt to reply to some thoughts thrown my way the other weekend.

Hopelessness- The Hunter and The Hunted- by Holt

The moon is out
The sky is weeping
It's a hunting night
And I am helpless

The hunter is here
And he intends to find game
The gun sings and the blade dances
Suddenly there is chaos

The screams are piercing
The shrieks are inhumane
The world is dyed in red
And all I can do is run

One by one they all fall
The hunter is intent on his fun
We're naught but players in his game
Willing or not, every one participates

My back is up against the wall
The others are gone, their game is over
Perhaps they are at peace now
But I'm still alone with a crazed predator

The tears of the sky mix with mine
My world is dark and empty and full of grief
The hunter is about to turn the corner
His footsteps are too loud..those are the steps of a beast

He's here and I'm face to face with him
Those soulless eyes gleam with delight
The smoking gun is pointed in my direction and it intends to sing
The hunter is down to his final prey
And I am helpless..

I've been meaning to make an entry for ages but haven't had much time to do one. I finally decided I had to pen something down since today's the deadline. In the end, the inspiration came swiftly and it took a few minutes to compose the poem and a couple more to edit.
Tbh, I found it a bit unnerving since I had to visualize it while composing XD
