I look in some japanese boards about this image. It was extracted from this link that doesn't wotk anymore, The structure of the link is very similar to last year hiatus-return page, this one. Someone in one of those boards, said that before the link was taken down, there was a text that said that it will be an information disclosure on 5/29 (monday), the same day that Jump 26 is released in Japan, and where that image of Gon came from.

The fact that says free, (無料 Muryō) makes think that either they are going to put the lastest 40 chapters of the serie for free (for those that want to catch-up whats is actually going on), or yeah, we are getting a 40 chapters run. Let's wait for the official stuff.

I feel the more chapters he release the more his next hiatus will be. releasing 40 chapters is a blessing if its true, but its minimum 2-3 year hiatus roughly the next time he go away which will happen, eventually.

Dishing out the last 40 chaps for free to make people interested in the series again after the long hiatus would make a lot more sense.

That would roughly cover the DC and election arc (if we exclude the kurapika one shot) and give you the proper synopsis for what is happening right now.

am I the only one who feels its pointless? volumes are out and they sold very well. doubt people will (including me) will be hyped about free chapters since we own the volumes. plus they did not do that during the long chimera ant arc which took years to finish right? so why now. 40 free chapters are a lot for a series that takes long hiatuses + more fans probably did catch up during that time anyway.. seems fishy.

Same here. But, this is only 1 year hiartus. I think 40 chapter and for free is too much. Last year we came from an almost 2 years hiatus and they only made avaible the last 9 SJ issues were HxH was present, and not for free.

Both options are weird xD But the image was named "...TOP_bunner_hunterhunter_20170529.jpg" So, is safe to say that we are getting what this is tomorrow or tonight.

totally agree! it would make sense to make the latest 10 chapters for free but then again is that what the new volume conclude? I don't get this move at all

I hate to say this, but that is exactly what has been doing. I wish reality was different, but the only unknown is what version number of the game he is playing.

hehe, lets hope he has the ability to do that ,, if he releases 40 chapters in a row , we could see the return of the anime in a year or less hopefully i guess i'm being too optimistic

Togashi has assistants. Legends about him not having help are myths.
The only thing that he doesnt do is hiring another artist.

According to robby's theory @apforums he used to be not having assistants. Maybe just a little help from his wife. I believe that was the case too. Based on past volumes, which usually lack of backgrounds and screen tones (usually it's assistants jobs). Even Togashi himself said that in the beginning it was decided that HxH won't be using too much screen tones, so I think there is a little truth behind that rumor. There is an old footage showing that his studio were so messy and not suitable for group work,. But in JUMP Ryu, new? studio looks so neat, and yeah, he's using assistants now. I don't mind sketchy art and lack of backgrounds, but the level of details in recent chapters is more than welcome.

They published the first 10 chapters of the manga for free in their website and they will be adding one chapter per day till 30 June, that's a total of 40 chapters, i think their doing this to attract the magazine's new readers to read the manga.
