Majima Let me clarify that I specifically mean Majima from Yakuza 0, not the travesty that they did with him in the other games.

I dislike when characters have a covered eye but I can look past it, just for him.

I like his batshit side as well but yeah, in Yakuza 0... oh boy.

He's already a bit crazy in that game but in a bit more of a cool, controlled way that's not a turn-off. And the tender side he shows towards Makoto... be still, my heart. I still think those sides shine through in other games and I do still think he'd be a candidate for the list even without 0, but he's my #1 thanks to Y0 as well.

2. Honorable mentions are allowed.
3. You can also send Dishonorable mentions(a player gave me the idea ) just for some fun hating if it comes up.

Probably the coolest character to come out of all of Wei(so far. Go Hou Mei is gathering his goonsquad and some looked interesting).
One big reason Chouyou fell was that Wei command could not imagine Qin having anyone who could kill Earl Shi

and even though he basically self-nerfed himself by just fighting to die, it was still barely possible to beat him. The pinnacle of a spear fighter, Ouhon is still nowhere on his level.

A former 6 great general. Akin to Youtanwa of this generation, but her story has a very sad ending. Had to die right as she finally reached her dream of marrying Ouki... Some also see potential parallels in her and Kyoukai.

She actually wounded Houken quite a lot, piercing him several times with her sword, but Houken somehow tanks it all and gets one good hit in with his glaive. Unfortunate.

Ou Ken

The king of the state of Qi. His weird love for snacking on snakes aside, he is probably the greatest unofficial ally of Qin. Bailing them out both in Coalition attack and sending food to Gyou. And while he doesn't do it out of kindness(they pay him very well), his talk with Ei Sei still shows that he can look beyond just his life as a king and towards something greater like true peace/unification.

Ordo

Out first dishonorable mention. Wow what a bum Ordo is. Not only is his personality consistently that of a giant prick(petty chair squabble with Go Hou Mei, disrespecting Karin and 0 humility for his major fuckup in coalition war), but he also is a giant fraud and gets whooped every time he tries to do something. Most notably being severely outplayed by Ou Sen and out-muscled/out-BSed by Shi Ba Shou. In his defense those 2 losses were to 2 of the greatest generals in the story, but there is still a strong dissonance between his personality, behavior and actual accomplishments. Too full of himself and the story keeps trying to portray him as a bigshot when he simply cannot tango with the greats.

Keep this guy on fraud watch because anytime he appears a major L is not far.

Ko Chou

The guardian deity of Kantan, they said. It did not take too long to overcome him, but imo he is as good as his title says. He got cheesed by Kanki(mostly all thanks to Shin making it even possible by baiting the final layer of reserve soldiers away) but other than that he was performing very well, stalemating Qin without use of Riboku!

Other than that, his main thing is that he's metal. Doesnt bat an eye at anything, and can do torture as bad as Kanki. He intentionally keeps piercings on his face to feel pain, I dont think the reason was conclusively stated - either he enjoys the pain, or he feels nothing anymore and has to use the constant piercing pain to get out of bed.

His capture scene is awesome, he never panicks at his demise, pretends to suicide just to kill some extra Kanki men for fun, and then suicides for real after. Quite badass.

Kyou Rei

I admittedly did not like Kyou Rei at all when she first appeared. Actively disliked her even. "Do we need another Kyoukai?" I thought. "Isnt her sad backstory with her sister just a rehash of what happened to Yuu Rei?" I pondered.

But well, those tricky questions aside, I have come to appreciate her nowadays. She adds to the story in a good way I feel, at least in scenes that show the Hi Shin Unit interacting. She brings the spice and personality in many otherwise monotonous scenes.

But lets not talk about how her and Kyoukai are basically super-assassins yet are not used to go hunt generals.

Also, her relationship with Kou is possibly my favorite one in Kingdom. Or at the very least in the top 3.

Denrimi

Ahhh I love(d) Denrimi so much. But I cannot quite explain why. I suppose I enjoyed the scenes he was in, and his relationship with Ou Sen - felt like student-teacher. And I could feel some degree of care Ou Sen showed to Denrimi. Ouhon could never.

Sadly he didn't quite accomplish much of anything, but he tried hard!

Hyou

Not to be confused with the Duke, I think Hyou was a fine, lovable guy. I just don't quite understand how he and Shin were equals in their duels, yet he couldn't survive against an assassin that Shin could beat. I guess he was tired fleeing from soldiers before the assassin got to him.

As for why shinobi dislikes him? Her comment:

Kei Sha

Very interesting general, probably Riboku's #1 student. I'd rank him somewhere around Duke Hyou's level which is extremely high. If he was alive during the western Zhao invasion Qin would've been screwed. I was shocked when he was defeated so early and suddenly. Perhaps so was the author, as Shunsuiju was introduced right after and he kinda takes on the mantle of Kei Sha, though Kei Sha is still quite superior in being a general while Shunsuiju is more an information/schemer guy, but I digress.

Garo

But anyway, Garo is one of my favorites in Shin's unit. He brought all the sass before Kyou Rei came, and made the HSU more colorful as a whole. He's not super powerful or a great strategist, but he fulfills his role well of the Red Hi Hyou cavalry. Sadly mostly a punching bag shown when the battle is rough, but I still enjoy every time he gets some screentime.

Kai Oku

Ok we need to talk more about Kai Oku, he doesn't get enough appreciation. He looks like an evil villain but his actions are the complete opposite. Sure he mostly does the bidding of Shou Hei Kun, but he was a godsend during the defense of Sai and overall entertaining whenever he appears. Most notably he trolled Zhao in a fake resupply attempt at Retsubi and did court shenanigans in Han as a messenger, but he does every now and then voice his thoughts in some events.

Acts kinda like a cartoon villain but so far very fun and interesting good guy.

Yuu Boku

Oh boy, the current king of Zhao. A morally depraved scum like his father before him, they say he is worse but at least he is not touching children... But he himself is still a child so maybe when he grows up.. bleh.

I don't particularly hate him though, kinda just a rotten spoiled teen and while disgusting, he's not exactly committing atrocities(yet). His reign also had far less awful judgements that cost Zhao land than during his father, so imo he's an actual upgrade somehow. There was even a little hint of potential character development after the war, where Riboku could teach him and improve him as a person!

.. but that may not happen, given where the current chapters are going.

Kai Oku is a good one. He's quite funny too. I like the scene where after SHK turning against Ryo Fui he is ready to go and he is loud, which was needed in the moment.

Denrimi made laugh out loud so many times performing those jutsu actions. Stupid shit like this elevates Kingdom.

And yea these depraved royals... I considered DMs for them even if they're kinda one note because they are disgusting. Still, there's even worse haramball that needs to be called out
