I love Hunter x Hunter and I think the nen/hatsu system is probably the greatest power system invented in all of fiction. Having said that, the one thing that really bothers me is IN. It doesn't make much sense to me and, like someone above said, it makes it so that the logical thing to do in that universe would be to use Gyo all the time since the risk of getting killed by an invisible attack would be too great.
Fair point - especially if you could use it on emitted attacks I guess.

Maybe it's a high level technique, though? Well, even then...

Take Kurapikas fight against Uvogin for example. Even if we agree that OP Kurapika can conjure invisible chains, how come Uvogin didn't FEEL the chains the moment kurapika first used them on him?. Why didn't he feel the weight of the chains or perceived them in any way? That was just stupid. Reddington is right about that. The entire IN thing is the biggest flaw of the system.
True, true

Another thing I don't like is that the lines between conjuring and emitter seem a little blurred sometimes. Like why is Kunckles Bankrupcy power emitter instead of conjurer? And yeah, I know most powers are like 60% of this and 40% of that but still it seems like the difference between emitters and conjurers is kind of arbitrary.
As explained, Conjuration allows the user to create a real object, which is usually the sole focus of the users power considering the amount of nen and focus and whatnot is required to create something real, while Emission allows for the projection of Nen with properties.

PotClean is Emission because it doesn't appear until Knuckle has hit you and placed his Nen on you fulfilling his terms & condition....Once he touches you/hit you he emits his Nen Onto you which becomes PotClean and it has adver effects...

IN is a pretty high lv technique and the way the usage of Nen is set up there a many tell tales that somebody is using IN.....Also IN hides all trace s of your Nen even once it comes in contact with someone...Unless Gyo is used it's not traceable

What do you think is Leorio's ability exactly? We know it can be used to warp punches, as a radar and for medical purpose but they are all applications of it.

No, that's all there's to it I think. Through palpation he sends out his nen and warps the punch he sent in out of it, Ging explained it in the manga too

He doesn't warp punches with palpation though. It's done by punching. Ging used a move which seemed to have done internal damages too, again without palpation. I still don't see the link between these two moves and the ultrasound one.

I don't know if I should post this here, but here goes: There is something bugging me in the fight between Kurapika and Uvogin, and I would like to know if you guys agree with me that there is something missing. The thing is :

How was kurapika's aura able to match Uvo's, especially in terms of Reinforcement ?

I know what your instinctive response would be at this point: Kurapika was using Emperor's time therefore his mastery of reinforcement abilities became 100%, just like uvo. But this is only mastery, how about the amount of aura in itself ?

We all know that the more aura one can summon at onces, the stronger he gets. According to Biscuit and Knuckles, one has to train in order to increase the amount of aura he can release, therefore it makes sense that Uvo has an incredible amounts of aura (even at 20%) since he is a veteran in nen abilities. But what about Kurapika ? At the point of his battle with Uvo, he is still a rookie in terms of developping and manipulating his aura (about the same level as Gon and Killua), so even assuming he mastered reinforcement abilities at 100%, how did he generate an aura that ties with Uvo's, in terms of strength and quantity ?

In other words :Let's say the average fighter's aura is at 1500. Suppose Uvo's aura was at 3000, and with 100% reinforcement mastery. Then in order for Kurapika to match him, he should also be at 3000, plus have 100% reinforcement mastery. The thing I find odd is how did Kurapika develop an aura of 3000 when he just learned nen ?

He didn't match him. Kurapika with Emperor Time active was a bit stronger than Uvo without his Nen.

I was talking about when they where fighting, before Uvo got caught by chain jail...Like when Kurapika blocked the first punch Uvo threw at him.

He blocked it but it broke his arm. And it only broke his arm because he noticed the attack at the last moment and dodged quickly.

If you notice, some of the training Gon and Killua did had to do with efficient utilization of their nen. Basically, concentrating their nen at the right moment at the right place. That's the 100% percent mastery. Uvo might be strong, but he is not 100%. It kind of depends on what you mean with 100%: if it's volume of nen, then he's towered by the likes of Youpi. If it's power used, he called out what percentage of his power he was going to use, and Kurapika could block those with his 100%. If it's technique, Kurapika didn't fully withstand Big Bang Impact.

Yes that's true, and it's odd. I mean how can a beginner in nen block an attack like big bang impact at full power and escape with just a broken arm ?
One possible explanation is that during Emperor's time Kurapika's aura increases in power and quantity, but do you guys agree with this ?

By 100% I meant mastery of the output of power, which is what you mentioned in the beginning of your post. But why did you suppose that Uvo hasn't mastered at 100% his own category of nen ? he's clearly a veteran in battles and nen. Kurapika on the other hand is still a rookie (in nen at least), the only apparent advantage he has over the spiders is his Chain Jail. Emperor time, while it gives him 100% of mastery of any category, will not be of great help in battle since his aura is that of a beginner's.

It's because he dodged, he most likely focused all of his Aura on his right arm at this moment too. Uvo was not aiming for his arm at this moment, it's believable enough for me.

Had Kurapika not done that he would have died.

Well, Kurapika does have a lot of nen. As a Conjurer it takes lots of nen to make efficient use of your conjurations. So if he can consistently focus all of that every time he's been hit, I guess it could be possible

I don't know, to me he looks more like blocking than dodging...
but if he did dodge, then I agree with you. However, all of this still remains quite ambiguous.

This page is also pretty clarifying

http://www.mangareader.net/hunter-x-hunter/83/19

In the first panel, it's said that Kurapika's nen increases considerably

In the last panel Kurapika explains that he can convert all that nen into whatever catagory he desires

And this
Yeah that's the only plausible explanation we have gotten, I agree with you.

Now to sum it up, when Kurapika enters emperor's time, not only he can achieve 100% of mastery in any category of nen, but also his aura increases drastically. I can't wait to see what he can do at this point in the story, in the dark continent.

Well, even if his nen has improved since we last saw him his next fight likely won't be quite like the one against Uvo. Against uvo kurapika fought like that because he was against a ryodan member. From an emotional standpoint he would be at his highest point, probably even in terms of nen. His emperor time is objectively powerful however without the strong emotions he had against Uvo I do doubt it would be quite the same, along with him not having all of his chains available to him while not fighting a ryodan member.

In a way it's kinda funny how Kurapika vs Spider is still questioned, even though Togashi went through so much trouble to justify the power of Emperor Time :XD

True. It's quite similar to gon's situation, when he saw pitou for the second time, his aura was stronger and was nothing like before. But still, I expect Kurapika to have somehow learned more about the other high level uses of nen, like Kou and Ryu, or how to maintain his Ken long enough, so he can still manage in battle, even without some of his chains. Plus currently he seems to have even more assurance and is more intimidating than he ever was (hum...outburst on Mizai...hum), so his nen would certainly be affected by that.

You mean emission. There's no such thing as "palpatation" in nen its just bursts of emission.

Um if you block a punch with your forearm like Kurapika did and it gets broken you didn't just block an attack your arm just got f*cked up. Normally blocking with the forearms/elbows hurts the fist more than your arm and breaks the fist but in this case the opposite happened. That means Uvo's attack was successful its just that Kurapika healed it twice with no problem thats why it didn't do anything.
