I have to agree with Mini_kinkin. This is a story about Yona, so her influence is to a certain degree unavoidable. You can argue of course how the scene should play out and to what degree Su-won should be influenced by Yona. Their meeting and conversation may as well be a trigger that makes him look for his own happiness in life, etc.

As the main character, her influence should be palpable. However not overdone.

Because Yona emotionally dealt better with the whole difficult situation than either Su-won or Hak, I don’t mind if she inspires them on this level.

It would be a problem if in few weeks/moths she took over the power and were shown as being a better King than Su-won or were shown as a more powerful warrior than Hak, this would be BS based on what we know and how Yona only recently started training archery and swordsmanship and how she has shown zero interest in ruling.

It is not a problem when the main character plays a major role, because the protagonist should do it, but how it is executed.

Princess Tutu and Utena also ended up as inspirational figures, though it is also true that in their cases you can easily argue that the writing was much stronger.

FIRST OF ALL, lily hasn't been around that long. even if she has the mangaka hasnt shown there convos. so what do us readers expect. even If the story is around her doesn't mean the characters have too which I am saying would be cliche. I want soowon ( since there is so little of him so far) to do so and find his own resolve....but to do so he needs to break down. Probably with the help of his mother or lily. And if the mangaka is trying to make a character mysterious and complex than it doesn't have to follow the typical route, is what I am saying.
I am just saying that from my point of view there gonna clash soon within the next 10 chapters...than the kai issue is going to happen. what I want his development and his pov first.

what I like about the story is that this is the first person to oppose her even tho they have the same goals. I want soowon to find his own resolve and find what makes him happy becs he tends to think about others first and sacrificed a lot. TBH WE ALL KNOW THAT SHE IS GOING TO END UP FORGIVING. I WANT SOMETHING WE ARE NOT GOING TO EXPECT IS WHAT I AM SAYING
Exactly, we need something we won't expect.

Even now more than half of this fandom hates Soo-Won and are not able to look beyond what he did. Seriously the amount of people who think he will die/want him to die are still a lot. It's sad tbh why they still think like that.

What will be refreshing is not the typical Yona will overthrow Soo-Won and rule, or Soo-Won will die for the sake of Yona becoming queen or some bs like this. It will be refreshing for the protagonist to tell the "antagonist" (even though Soo-Won is not really an antagonist) that hey you're doing a good job, so stop beating yourself about your mistakes and continue to rule. Like I said, it is Akatsuki no Yona after all, so making her have some influence on Soo-Won on an emotional level would be a nice way to conclude this whole thing and the conflict between the three friends too.

I would say that less than half the people hate him...maybe are not exactly fond of him, though considering that he is the antagonist he has quite a lot of fans.
About Yona s influence...as long as she doesn t solve all the riddles and maybe learns a little at the end. Not a problem with such an end!

TBH I DONT BLAME THEM (the fans) becs they barely get enough of his side of the story. add salt to the injury ( the xing arc), IT LEFT A BAD TASTE IN PEOPLES MOUTH,,, like ur dad was a monster he deserved to die,,even if it was justifiable....like I'm frustrated at this point. if the she shows his POV AT THE END......I would care less. SINCE THE XING ARC I FEEL LIKE the mangaka HASNT EVEN TRIED WITH DEVELOPMENT. like soowon was in 2 chapters....becs she decided it was time for yona to shine.
THATS WHY I WANT A PLOT TWIST....LIKE WHO IS PULLING THE BIG STRINGS.

I DO WANT TO SAY WHEN PEOPLE COMPARE SOOWON AND YONA AND HOW THEY HANDLE THE DEATHS....THERES MANY FACTORS THAT VARY.
1. SOOWON WAS VERY YOUNG.
2. HIS UNCLE AFTERWARDS DIDNT EVEN CARE TO SHOW HIM LOVE
3. THEY HAD A HOSTILE RELATIONSHIP
4. COMPARED TO YONA, SOOWON COULDNT EVEN TELL HIS FRIENDS.
5. WHO ELSE KNOWS WHAT HE DID...WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR FUTURE REVELATIONS.

AT THIS POINT, I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THE HAPPY HUNGRY BUNCH... I WANT MORE SOOWON. I SWEAR IF U COUNT SOOWON HAS PROBABLY BEEN IN 30/158 CHAPTERS AND NOT ON EVERY PAGE IN THOSE CHAPTERS :(

True, if we compare their reactions right after their fathers’ murderer, Su-won had far less chances of dealing better than Yona due to young age alone, but right now ten years have passed. He is no longer an eight year old child, he is 18.

I don’t think it undermines Su-won or anything. It just does not make him Mr. super perfect contrary to what some people claim.

True.
It gives Yona a way to shine in a way that is persuasive.
Yona can never be Superman. I think that is Hak s role.
Yona s strength is her good heart. Why should she don t have a better one than Soo Won or Hak? She could teach them both and it also demonstrates how similar Hak and Soo Won are and that they could at least understand the pain of the other.
I don t want to imply her that they will become friends again, but I think it is highly likely that they could at least understand the motivation of the other. Maybe better than everybody else.

Yes Yona's main strength as a character is her kind heart, the ability to empathize and also see other view points, in my opinion. Kusa at least brought these part of her character out very well in the manga. The fact that she can somewhat move past what Soo-Won did and Hak still can't shows that she is far more emotionally stable and strong than Hak.

I'm OK with Su-won being the brains, Hak being the brawn, and Yona being the heart.

WAIT I DONT KNOW HOW TO WORD THIS SO PLEASE PARDON ME.
people say that soowon isn't empathetic, but once again we never see his emotions or his inner feelings. people think that soowon doesn't think of each individuals lives and is monster whose goal is to make kouka stronger. that makes it hard becs his main goal is to ward off kai....so they need military power and to unite the tribes, which he did. Yona is able to travel so she sees first hand what is happening and is able to jump into battle and fight small enemies. even tho he technically doesn't have to go from tribe to tribe. even in the water tribe he doesn't want to kill that individual that was on drugs and he had to think again before he killed him. he says he like people....he never hated anyone except king il. king il killed his father, emotionally tormented him and who knows what else he did. yes yonas main characteristic is that she has a big heart and was able to move on quicker than soowon. BUT WE CANNOT UNDERMINE HIM IF WE DO NOT KNOW HIM OR WHAT HE WENT THRU OVER THE PAST 10 YEARS. Yuhons dying wish couldve have been simply save the country and soowon had to take a life in order to do so. yes revenge played a huge factor and soowon has a hard time admitting his dad is wrong, but so does yona in a way(never brought up yahoos death). hak has a hard time moving on becs he was loyal to soowon as an ally and friend, and hak strong point is that he super loyal and that can be a disadvantage. compared to what hak said in his monologue, soowon is attached to people ....and that can be seen in the fact that he killed someone.
I personally believe soowon has a heart but he just needs to break down and remove all that stress.

YOU GUYS I HAVE A THEORY....IT MIGHT SOUND CRAZY BUT JUST LISTEN. I THINK THE MANGAKA IS USING SOME WORDS TO FORESHADOW WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.
1. SOOWON--" for everything that I did, I do not expect to live a long and peaceful life"--- at first I tho he was going to die, can sound like it..it can also mean that the people might find out and ruckus will occur like now....long life as in he thinks that yona might kill him, but we know she isn't. what interests me is that he never mentioned the killing. the day of the assassination the door was open and yona walked in with SOOWON TAKING A SWORD OUT OF KING IL CHEST AND BLOOD ALL OVER HIS FACE (how'd that happen). the way she is postponing the scene is making it seem like there would be a plot twist. Also can be used to explain soowons identity...like related to the prophecy becs I do think he was sort of power. I SOUUUUUUND CRAZZZZZZZY.

2. LILY CHAPTER 155- "your majesty you MAY have done cruel things for the sake of the country, but yet there is someone who loves you this much". SHE USED MAY. like bitch who else could have killed the king. we know you know that soowon killed the king. ThESE words make it sound like she isn't sure OR it isn't what it looks like. Also the way she is trying to get back that hairpin makes it seem like that hairpin is representing that there is hope for a possible reconciliation or something else.

3. JAEHA CHAPTER 153- " yona you are PROBABLY THE ONLY ONE TO SAVE HAK" why use PROBABLY...like the HHB ISNT HELPING....YONA IS TRYING TO HELP HAK MOVE ON BUT IT ISNT HELPING,,,,UNLESS THE PERSON WHO CAUSED THE PAIN IS THE ONE TO HEAL THE PAIN.....SOOWON :(

I am not sure we understand each other. By no means I say that Su-won is a bad person, only that he is not dealing emotionally with the situation very well. That he has a problem does not mean that he isn’t a good person.

Ur not alone. All this time waiting for his pov or il/yuhon revelation has made me critical. Some people in the fandom believe that we are entering our final arc (give or take 2 more arcs) and in my honest opinion i think the author did some poor planning in terms of the plot. We dont even know yet why hiryuu came a 2nd time, or that 1st prophecy of the priests during yuhons time, heck yona doesnt know of the dragons conditions... so, like when is the author gonna dish out this info? When we’re down to our last 15 chapters? That doesnt make any sense to me. These things shouldve been distributed and weaved through the past arcs. Dumping huge amounts of info during the final leg is so haphazard.

Like u i want a plot twist but i feel like we wont get it bec some basic information is still missing. The most i could hope for is we finally see what the author wants us to see. But to wish for some table flipping is overestimating the author.

Yup it is in fact sad that there is so little information concerning the main plot.

Yep. Kouvo/kuervo. The guy who wants to meet the dragons (esp. kija) in person and who has a lot of soldiers to spare.

Yep. Nothing relevant out of this chapter other than hot naked men taking baths and the authors usual antics of trolling her readers with a potential bed scene but is short lived. Add to that 2 new faces.
