Please do not twist my words. I said I had a problem with certain sites/media, not opinion pieces, which speaking on live television and reporting on something as news is not an opinion piece. So I'm not "devaluing" journalists, but certain ones, which should happen when they show their true colors. CNN, Fox, CBS, ABC (fake images of Trump etc), NBC etc are all dishonest, unethical morons who would just as easily push false stories without evidence (Assange is a pedo, Hillary was shot at while at Bosnia, there are no violent left riots, Ben Carson was violent as a kid, CNN lying about debate results (poor Bernie), rigging debates etc) as they would directly lie to people.
Those are fair points about not instantly trusting every story that runs through a TV station (because there, to be fair, anchors have to do everything to keep ratings high and sometimes do not factcheck before they say something).
But there are still hell of a lot mainstream media who are trustworthy, for example the new york times or wall street journal.

My personal approach is to use any medium which does not regularly lie to me as a base to see what is a topic and when there is a topic that is controversial (for example when someone claims that a newssource i used is lying) i factcheck in detail.

CNN would be held responsible for their actions? What CNN have you been watching the last 8 years? They only recently have been called out at large for their garbage and that's largely because Trump won (and wikileaks). If you want to learn more about CNN's problems, for example, go to their controversies wikipedia page. That's just some of the stuff people can't ignore and have to record. They are about as dishonest as anyone can get, but it is ignored so people don't believe it happens.
I don't use TV as a newssource in general, i only watched CNN during election time, and the things they said in their actual political pieces were mostly true and if they weren't they usually clarified it at some point (they did, for example, clarify the assange thing you mentioned).
And do you know why they clarified it? Because Assange threatened to sue them, thus, yes, they can be held responsible if they lie.

CNN can be made to utter apollogies or rectifications, and that happens.
Even if you are completely ignorant and think everything CNN says is true, they have to clarify if they did a mistake or outright lied.
That is hell of a lot better than the alternative fact landscape we have today, where your elected president and his crew lie into your face while it is clearly visible that they are lying.
CNN can be made to aplogogize and rectify things. Your usual conspiracy blogger can't, trump and Conway can't and similar things are true for Breitbart news (they technically all obviously could be sued, but they are much harder to be held responsible than CNN).
Just look how CNN had to apollogize after the Assange thing and Breitbart news can still happily claim all kinds of vile shit about individuals or even races.

That is the difference between established media and the new media that arose just lately.

I'll support journalists, so long as they are not lying scum with agendas to push. That kind of journalism is not welcomed and will never help a democracy like ours, just undermine it. You can feel free to watch their bs and support their corrupt and dishonest values and agendas, but I won't be apart of that.
What do you mean with 'an agenda to push'?
If something is true, it is true.
I wouldn't see a problem if an actually respectable republican journalist would uncover an actual scandal about any given democrat politician i like.
He might have an agenda because he focussed on a democrat in his work, but it is still the truth.

Problems arise when things are fabricated to push an agenda.

The thing about trump is that the vilest things about him that were ever said on TV were all true.
CNN may invent some bullshit celebrity story about nancy sinatra not liking trump, but they didn't invent all thecrazy shit he said.

I found this bit particularly fun. All it is missing for it to be perfect is a subtitle saying "go ahead, make my day bitch"
A thing about Obamacare is that many people do not realize all of its different parts.
Obamacare as a phrase is unpopular, but some aspects of it are popular and people want to keep them.

If if is actually completely nulled, then trump and pence will have to deal with a bunch of angry people from the group that actually liked them.

Until a incident happens and it turned out a 2nd gen. radicalized muslim refugee did something, it´s not that far up the possibility and did already happen, also I´d advice to go watch some vids like this:

There´s also this lil, thing on Sweden, it seems not only the police was pissed, they are deporting 80k, I´m certain there must be some very good evidence to back this up:

Now it´s not exactly terrorism, but a very dangerous case of civil unrest, which just like terrorism trump most likely aims to prevent all together.

It´s not just about Reading it, it´s about understanding it and it´s visible that the man knows what he´s talking about when he talks about stuff related to that, he´s experienced in warfare a good veteran, all in all it was a good pick for the spot, it´s not like I knew what his competition was though, If they were better than him and you guys know something on them, I could change my views on Mattis.
You should really stop using nonsensial sources like these.

Sweden took, by comparison of its size, more than 100 times the amount of refugees the US took and they did so since decades.
Sweden has any right to sort out people who they think are not actually seeking help but there for financial reasons.

Sweden does not do that due to an actually risen crimerate (that is a fabrication in the video, a rumour is suddenly made a fact there even tho factually crimerates didnt rise), it does because with a big influx of refugees and migrants like that it got to its limit.

The Us is nowhere near that.
"In 2015 alone Sweden, with a population of 9.5million, received over 160 000 asylum applications and the country is expected to take as many as 190,000 refugees, or two per cent of the population, in 2016"
Now, let's keep the number round and say they took 300.000 in 3 years
Comparison to the US "Mr. Obama's announcement last September that the United States would take in at least 10,000 Syrians in the current fiscal year (2016) was part of his effort to resettle more refugees generally, from an average of about 70,000 a year to 85,000 a year over the next three years."
And almost none of those 10.000 are there yet and obviously there are not going to come much more since trump is president now.

Let's take the 10.000 figure (which is far higher than the number the US actually took) and take population divided through refugees for both cases.
With sweden, we get 31.6, with the US, we get 31800.
That is roughly the number i gave you before: Sweden took A HUNDRED TIMES more refugees compared to its size than the US (and only in the last 2 years, in the last ten it would grow even more enormous with the difference) and is NOW sorting out bad apples.
And it is still a country in which the residents are richer, the crimerates are lower and the education system is better than in the US.
And you want to tell me that even a HUNDREDTH of that share they take and still run laps arround the US when it comes to quality of life is too much to take for the states and a safety risk?

Really? Because of a youtube video made by idiots that perpetuates some bullshit rumours?
--- Double Post Merged, ---
Not to mention even that the US has an insanely strict vetting process.
Why would it matter, right? Muslims are always a safety risk, right?

Well, it's what they wanted to begin with. The FYP party wants to eliminate the ACA, and the Trumptards allowed it to happen, so why not repeal it and see the repercussions.

What a time to be alive...
Can't be worse than the Anti-Defamation Group labeling Pepe the Frog as "Hate Speech" tbh.

Yeah, that is about the gist of it. Republicans are neck deep in shit when it comes to the whole "repeal and replace" unfortunately. They rallied against it after it was approved, then got behind the whole "repeal and replace"... but the reality here is that repealing it even now would be a monumental task and succeeding would leave millions without health care. But they are so neck deep into this that they can't just do a 180 and change their approach to "the odds of us repealing this are insanely low and succeeding is political suicide so we kinda gotta work on the whole "improving or replacing" thing". On the other hand, I do think they have at least a decent chance at succeeding when it comes to gutting it systematically. Which would, over time, have the same effect as repealing except that the damage as well would be spread over time.

Well that's stupid as well, but I was just reacting to that actually being on the lower-third of a major news station.....

The moment that degenerate fuck Jones says that the Sandy Hook massacre was Government Conspiracy was the moment I no longer call such maggot a "Human Being". I knew that neither of the shitty websites were credible (at least with Fox News, it's not what they report, but how they report it, similar with other news stations like CNN or MSNBC), but never thought it was this bad.
Who would've fucking thought that a POTUS, of all people, would get so many misinformation...

True, it's quite unbelievable that such header would contain useless contents.

tbh Trump played it beautifully. By making sources like CNN to be fake news, any news that isn't automatically biased towards him, Trump can fuck up a lot and big time, and most of his supporters wouldn't believe these sources. Whereas, sources like Infowars and Breitbart would lie and make Trump either look good or deflect blame.

I mean, Trump could crash the economy through bad decisions, and CNN would cover it and offer proof, but his supporters would cry bullshit; Breitbart would say it was caused by liberals or started by Obama, and the supporters and conservatives would believe that like mindless sheep. If nothing else, this'll help him do well in the next election.

But the sad part is that news stations like CNN have only helped Trump prove that he's right regarding "Fake News" (which I doubt MSNBC, CNN, or even Fox News are "Fake News" like Shitbart and Cancerwars). They could've avoided it had they'd been more organized and do their jobs in reporting important news.

To be fair: It can hardly count as an argument that people have no competence in media usage and trust everything they see on TV and thus conclude that nothing not uttered by a complete psycho like jones is true.

Even then, the problem more lies with how easily Trump supporters are brainwashed and how willing they are to believe any bullshi that makes Trump look good or validate their ideas while calling anything that they don't agree with as fake news, despite evidence.

Seems like Trump doesn't care about keeping things secret, given he was talking about North Korea in front of people.

Safety my ass.

How reliable are the white house leaks? If there is any degree of truth to them then the guy is not quite as incompetent as I thought he would be. He would be more like a cartoon of the degree of incompetence I expected from him. Seriously, the leaks portray the guy as an incompetent manchild who is afraid of small fonts. I would be legitimately surprised if he turns out worst than I expected considering my expectations were virtually non existent. So..... are the leaks reliable?

After the leaked executive orders that never came/come to pass I take any leak with a grain of salt.

So uh.... remember how people accused Donald Trump of affiliating with the KKK because David Duke endorsed him?
Well... turns out, David Duke is endorsing Keith Ellison.

Unless Keith condemns his endorsement, I have a feeling that the Democratic Party will face their repercussions sooner than expected...
